What he means by “Venus syndrome” is that scientist think that Venus was like Earth, but it actually had a runaway greenhouse effect (causing it’s high atmospheric pressure and dense clouds) and also Venus’s terrain resembles a planet with oceans that evaporated, meaning that Earth will end up like Venus. Heck, for all I know what if life on Venus (if there ever was any to begin with) also caused it’s own doom.

We dont know how or what an actual sentient AI will be like, and as long as a sentient AI is avoided there is no way an AI can directly cause our downfall due to the limits we code into it. Even then, a sentient AI would still probably have to follow coded rules we put into it, for example you are sentient and you see a disabled baby, that disabled baby is not needed or desirable, so do you throw it off a cliff? No, because you have a set of cultural rules instilled into your brain that prevent you from doing that.

Considering feedbackloops we don't include in our prognosis, our inability to take the necessary steps and our appetite for ressources, consumption and growth my educated guess is that things will get gradually worse from now until 2040s with the world sinking into war and chaos in the 2050s.

Thanks for the info :) I kinda forgot some of the details on Mars but I still think that Earth will eventually end up like one of it's siblings. Maybe not following the footsteps of Mars but Venus, most scientist today still don't really know what actually caused the green house emission on Venus. But that's not the main aim of my argument, what I'm trying to say is that with the high rate of carbon dioxide emission, Earth will eventually lose all its magnetic field leaving everyone exposed to radiation, clearing out the human race and finally turning earth into a hellish planet.
