Monsters with unique abilities (and unique starting health?) should be fun.
I'll have to look inside the box to see about the starting health.
Who is the designer? I am always surprised that the designers get so little credit in the board game community.
When you review a book, it is silly if you didn't mention the writer.
We love KoT and I was looking for something that I can play with my kiddo alone. I wanted to play dice throne so bad but he can't read English yet (from Hungary) so this should be perfect as cards have few text and easy to explain, pretty straight forward.

Hmm, I really enjoy KoT but I’m not sure I need a 2-player version competing with games like Dice Throne, Unmatched, etc in my collection.
On the other hand, I love the art style on this one! Will keep an eye out for more coverage on this.
This feels less like those comparisons, and more like an answer to the question: "What if King of Tokyo did something like 7 Wonders Duel?" I would say this is a more accessible experience than even Dice Throne or Unmatched.
Played Dice Throne at a convention and we own Unmatched, both are more involved than a lighter weeknight game. We are very much looking forward to King of Tokyo Duel :D

Iello has shown the box art at UKGE, but also censored the side. So there must indeed be something special on it.
I can tell you, it was one of the monsters that they have not yet revealed -- not to mention a fancy bit of editing on my part (if I do say so myself). 🤓
Not familiar with the symbol (explosion?) on the card at 1:13... anyone knows?
Our interpretation of that symbol was "damage". So if I use the smash icons to deal damage to you, the damage is represented on cards that way.
Looks like the AC's out...fellas got that sheeeeeen.
Ha! Actually we have a brand new AC system. I just turn it off when we record, and this was the last video of the day. 😅😅😅😅
Can we know how many monsters are in the box and will the old ones have a conversion or be compatible?
I would assume two, Gigarex and Mechadragon.
Pure guess, I think 6, the 6 main ones. Each will have an individual power, so every time you duel, youc hange things up by taking another character.
I love all the speculation, but all I can say is that there are more. I think Iello will be revealing more in the coming weeks.

Is there gonna be a way to use the monsters of the original game?
I'm not sure, but the new monsters have unique powers printed on their boards, so I don't know if that's in their plans. This is enough of a new experience though that I don't think that would be a deal breaker many people.

Ha! There are some game elements still yet to be revealed, but the general concept alone of tug-of-war King of Tokyo is pretty clever.

Great little family game for when you have two players looking for something to do.
Since I usually play with my wife anything that says Duel or Duo in the title is usually a must, my question is, what other Kaijus come in the box? The 6 classics or oth3rw?
I wish I could answer that question. I will confirm that there are more in the box.

How do they keep getting Gigazaur's design wrong? The skinny waistline is sooo weird looking. They've had like 5 shots at it and miss every time.

I really like this art style a lot. I'm unfamiliar with the style you're referencing, so I'll have to look it up.
Question : i like the original game BUT when the players remains in 2 the game is quite "forced" and less funny.. So, those two game can be combined? The monsters inside are the same? In case od yes, when the players remains in 2 in base game, i can play this... It's possibile? 😊😊
The art on the cards are different from the comic art on the rulebook, board, …
I'm sure they used more than one artist, but I think it's still a similar vibe -- just not presented as washed out and "pulpy".
I’m gonna be so annoyed if in a year and a half they release a “mega” sized version of this.
Why would they not allow to show it all? My goodness it’s a board game. Relax people.
