      I hope that Labour wins in every Scottish seat to make Starmers move into no10 a lot easier. And to stop you the English spouting the non existence virtues of the SNP saying they would get your vote if you didn't live in England. Stop whinging about the parliament system. You have the ability to recall your Mps and force early byelections. We can't bc Sturgeon removed that right when she was first minister.

    The resistance of Tory, Labour and LibDem parties to establish formal triggers or mechanisms or pathways for Scottish independence is one of the main reasons I can't vote for them. Even if you disagree with independence, they should be democratic enough to respect the independence sentiment in Scotland and Wales.

      They’re not all that tbh. They pulled a Labour and took their electorate for granted. That said, I don’t know who else to vote for; I won’t vote Tory until the day I die, and I wholeheartedly believe Labour has 0 clue what the Scottish electorate even care about

    Based on your twitter I thought he was gonna chat loads of shit about Matheson. But hes entirely right, now ive understood the objection it makes perfect sense. Of course someone part of the hearing committee or whatever shouldnt be able to have made a comment like that and be part of it anyway. As he says thats how all juries or judgement committees work.
    Your point about the highest standards even actually demonstrates his point. Hes an elected member, they should be very thorough BOTH in terms of making sure people dont get away with shit AND in terms of taking it very seriously that they are suspending peoples representative.

    The best political party in the UK. After supporting Labour for years I moved to Scotland just to be able to vote for SNP.

    Hi. May I make a request? If you interview the first minister again, can you ask him why he has made Kate Forbes the deputy first minister and if her regressive views are appropriate for a promotion such as this? Also, couod you ask what the SNP are going to do to address Sandyford shutting down their gender identity healthcare services for people under 18? Thank you.

      SNP are as scared as Labour. Labour refuse to condemn Israel due to fear of antisemitism, and SNP are terrified of trans people as a result of the gender reform bill (though honestly SNP have less excuse, as no one in Scotland really seems to care outside of old fucks, but the Tories and British press are too powerful for them I suppose)

      @@jackoh991 Perhaps it's because in Scotland we respect the Equality Act 2010 which protects people from discrimination over religious beliefs. Swinney is smart enough to see Forbes' potential and has the maturity to separate the personal from the political. As for Sandyford, the SNP government are carefully considering the Cass report and trying to work out how best to look out for children (children shouldn't be undergoing gender "reassignment" surgery in my view.

      @@daftymcnumpty8198 England last year saw 145,214 recorded hate crimes; thousands prosecuted, hundreds jailed just for talking silly trash talk. No one in Scotland will be prosecuted as we still have Burden of Proof.
      J.K. Rowling knew exactly what she was doing, she was not breaking the Hate Law, just being a stooge for Westminster by stirring the pot. Why doesn't she speak out against England's Hate Law, or the European Hate Laws, etc?
      Personally, I'm against all Laws are they are a failure to deal with problems humanely and responsibly. Laws are simply a lazy way, not resolving the underlying issues... within society, within the person.

    I find this all very upsetting, I have scottish blood in me, but happened to be born in england, have many friends, who are kilt wearing , card carrying scots. it's a union, equal partners. there are scottish laws, different to English, they have remained, I hope the Union continues, for our mutual benefit. I wish brexit had never happened, we got suckered into that one

      More stability in Middle East is important for Scotland as her Exports of Goods into the Middle East were growing and were worth £1,868 Billion in 2023,
      Up 6,1% from the £1,754 Billion in 2022.

    Can we please bear in mind that swinny was the Scottish financel minister under Sammond and introduced austerity to Scotland with the SNP. Also the SNP are not the left wing socialists that a lot of people like to think they are. They have heavily introduced centralisation and cuts for public services, in particular to education and social care. This has removed power and finances from the local governments and wrecked alot of what were considered some of the best services in the world for people.
    The issues with the SNP is their not inherently left or right wing as their nationals and therefore cannot subscribe to ideology except for independence. Take kate forbs the deputy leader. Some of her stances of policy would make even Tories look left wing.

      @@benwilson6145 reality check. Palastine doesn't exist. It belongs to Saudi Arabia and is called the Gaza Strip. The only reason just palastinians live there is because in 2005 Israel Defense Force moved all the Jewish people out of the Gaza Strip at gunpoint because the naturally nomadic race that are now known as palastinians kept bombing and shooting Jewish people and their properties which sparked civil wars. The current war is NOT genocide as Israel have the right to do what they're doing under international law. BOTH sides of the war are being funded by the very people that you support the narrative of just to keep that fact quiet. Blame anyone but those responsible.
      Were are all still waiting for the CRIMINALS of October 7th 2023 to be held accountable by you and your cronies. As a Christian I stand with my fellow people of God. Long live Israel!

    I live in Glasgow. They've wasted all their good will over the last few years and have done little positive here that can be praised. Yousaf and the way he treated the Greens, bottle recycling, gender reform and Kate Forbes new position shows they don't have a clue what they are doing. I love that Ed challenges the group think that surrounds the SNP..

Not sure how well lots of banks opening up shop sits with their socially progressive position. One finally point, have you been to the QE Hospital? The pointless, massive atrium is covered in scaffold and the Mat ward is from the 70s.

      And yet the people of Scotland don’t pay any bedroom tax on social housing, don’t pay a penny for healthcare at the point of use, the rivers and lochs aren’t being pumped full of faeces, council tax has remained frozen, and higher education is free of tuition fees for Scot’s.
