    Excellent info!
    I've recently bought the Atlas and I am very impressed with it's good looks and it's crawling abilities.
    Those stock tires are excellent crawling tires. These stock wheels/tires are a perfect fit on the SCX24 and improves it crawling performance.

    Great video! Love the truck man, do you have to bind the new reciever to the remote or does it just work because it's on the same channel or something? Looking at using the reciever linked in the description with a furitek ESC because I am in the united states and shipping from Germany is slow

    Is it possible for you to show a video of the way you soldered the BEC in parallel to the AS12/6RW easy? I have never used a BEC before and I’m looking to recreate your results. I have the same BEC that you have used and have ordered the ESC from Germany! Thanks for any help. What I’m asking is did you solder the BEC direct to the board or did you solder to the battery leads just off the board? If that makes sense.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  3 года назад +2

      OK, will try to, but first will try to explain, it is not difficult.
      I soldered it directly to the board, battery and BEC wires side by side on the pads of the ESC, but this is not important.
      You could also twirl the (blank) ends of the two wires, first coming from battery and second going to BEC (plus with plus and minus with minus), presolder those and then solder them to the according pads on the ESC. Pretin the pads on the ESC before, so that there is a small amount of solder on the pad (put your clean and pretinned soldering tip to the pad, and then put the soldering wire on the pad touching pad and soldering tip).
      Clean your soldering tip.
      Then place the pretinned ends of the wires onto the pretinned pad (correct polarity of course, plus to plus and minus to minus). You can do this by hand, using tweezers, or using helping hands. But at least one device (ESC normally) should placed so that it cannot get off place.
      Then place your clean and pretinned soldering tip to wires and pad, till solder of wires and on pad melts. Remove the soldering tip, keep the wires in place for a moment, soldification will take place in parts of a second, and here you go. If the soldering joint is shiny, it is good.
      I will probably upload a Katana video this weekend, there I will try to show one of those tiny ESCs with BEC in detail. If this is not enough, I can make a video.
      BEC and ESC are two independent things, both get their power from the Lipo. BEC will drop the voltage to be adequate for the receiver (5 V, 6 V, ...) and then power the receiver. ESC will give power to the motor, how much is controlled by the receiver (Throttle/radio). So BEC and ESC do not have to be one unit. You could place them on different locations, you could power them by different batteries, ...

    That’s brilliant, thank you for that video, I’ve just ordered a set for my fms 6x6, and I’m thinking about upgrading my ftx micro crawler too.
    Have you looked into any upgraded motors for the fms? Maybe something a little bit more powerful?

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  3 года назад +2

      No, did not search. IMO the motors are quite ok, those are the motors many use for the SCX24 as upgrade. It is exactly the same motor (including lettering on the can) that comes with teh RGT/FTX 1/24 and the Katana and the (new large motor) CR-18.
      Motor ist sold as RGT and Hobby Plus. Check my RGT vs. CR-24 video, there I do show those motors.
      However, if you find a better motor, I am interested which one and where.
      So far did not see any need.
      Ordered a lot of tires and shocks and... will have to try this somewhen...

    Dear Sir:
    I have an FMS atlas 6x6 and would like improve it´s speed control. I've been told that this crawler comes with a stock integrated receiver-esc. Since I'm not an electronics expert, could you please indicate or maybe make a video on the detailed way to connect the modellbau-regler ESC and the other brand receiver on the Atlas 6x6. Thanks in advance.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  Год назад

      Hi, you cannot do this. You will have to buy a TurboRacing receiver and connect the ESC to the receiver. It does not work with stock 2-in-1 Control, since there is no CH-2 out.

    Does your motor get hot? I just picked up an Atlas 6x6, I pulled it out of the box today and test drove it on my rock course and in less than 10 minutes the motor was hot enough to burn my finger! Seems way over geared or something is binding.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  3 года назад

      It is the same for Atlas, Katana, SCX24 with Bec. What do you mean with "build"? Wiring? I do explain it in several videos, Katana,"Best ESC for micro crawlers", etc.
      This ESC is originally made for boats and not for cars, for builders...
      Maybe they will do a plug and play version for tiny trucks one day, but Germans are not as fast as Chinese in this ;)

    Hi Donald,
    I recently ordered a As12/6RW easy with cables to replace my mini z stock esc. I was thinking to use as main ESC but it doesen't work.
    I saw here that you were able to get this ESC running just with a battery and the receiver connected.
