I have found that 6-7 frames seems to be a good number. The animations in this video are all 6 frames long. This might seem like a small number, but it can often be overcome by making animations loopable, using rotating symmetric objects such as the cog wheels (0:22) and the Super Mario question block (2:00), and having multiple objects moving after each other. Good luck with your animations!
I can't seem to make your program work... I open the files, and I can't select more than one image. I select number 1, and it shows the animation as it should be. So I click "merge animation" but the result is only the first frame there, the other ones aren't merged and so no animation. Text function doesn't seem to work properly either... What am I doing wrong??
Hi! Many office supplies stores carry such plastic papers because they are used for overhead projectors. So you can use the stripes-only image that is also generated by the program to print the stripes directly on the plastic paper using an ordinary printer.
Does not work because I'm unable to load more than 1 picture at the same time. If I try the samples a error message appears that I cannot create an animated illusion with only one frame but more than one frame I cannot load. What did I wrong?
I would like to talk to you about these animated illusions. I'm doing mine with pixel art. I'm making the effect work but my black horizontal bars are very thick and I'm getting 8 frames of animation, but its not as clear as yours. Your transparent layer has almost equal width of black and transparent bars. I'm assuming that your frames are razor thin on the actual paper.
@@TheUnicycleMaster I'm doing this effect on a video game console with pixels and I'm getting and understanding the technique, but yours is more optimized for something. Do you have a contact where I can send you the animation? Or another social media outlet like Twitter?
Lol, I have just read that you have a program for producing these animations. Oh well, I spent a day or two on Java Swing to figure it out by myself, it was pretty funny...
Fast question: how many frames do your animations have? How many frames have you tried maximum? (I tried 12 and it looked bad, you could barely see through grid with 12 frames). And of cource, since I do this "art" too, liked this video!
Thanks! I am making Tardis flying in space and turning 90 degrees animation right now... it is the biggest project I've made on animations for now :D By the way, can I make my animations like yours? I know, I won't be author etc, so I ask you if I can "steal" some ideas? I really liked rollercoaster and mario cube!
@hunterespalier Another name for this type of animation is "scanimation", which was invented by Rufus Butler Seder. Watch this: ruclips.net/video/LOTqX8ddLwg/видео.html

Nice 👍 Its possible to buy somewhere the foil with black stripes? And what any circular illusion?

The circular animation works by pinning the plastic paper at the center of the image and rotating it to see the animation
Yes, that's ok. Cool project by the way, I would love to see the result when you are done!
I bought it at my local office supplies store. You can also order it online, try searching for overhead paper.
Hello, I'm a friend from China. How can I export high quality pictures
another question would you happen to have one with a rooster or a chicken image? Thanks

Who does the original drawings for you? Thanks

I was wondering if there's a more technical name for these types of images/illusions? I'm trying to find information about who discovered the effect.
I will make sure to show you!
That amazing! Good work, man!

Hm, maybe it would help to rescale the images to be larger before sending them to the program?

Yeah, just make sure to print both the plastic and the paper in the same size
