Agreed. United has trash food on their flights. Had a friend get sick on one of them just from eating something small.
Maxster 9898 United sucks. Continental was actually a good travel experience. United fucked it all up.

You mentioned a while back that United was an airline "in transition." (After merging w/ Continental) Doesn't look like that transition is going too well. United, after the demise of U.S. Airways, has become the new "Skid Row Airlines." Everything about United is substandard. I fly United only when absolutely necessary.
Continental was one of the best airlines in the U.S. Merging with United has done neither of them any good.

Pete Kessler I agree. I miss Continental so much. Was always confused as to why they decided to merge. Skid row airlines is the perfect description. Unfortunately I still travel on it with my dad since he’s big on brand loyalty. Oh well. Hopefully they will get better.

I'm a Star Alliance man from the US (although I live in Asia). Despite the fact that I have gold on Singapore Airlines, I still refuse to fly United for any reason. In Phoenix, they're very convenient because their terminal is dedicated to them and pretty small, with convenient parking. I still refuse to fly with them. Southwest is my go-to for domestic any day of the week, JetBlue when it works and American or Delta depending on which is more convenient. I can't imagine paying first class fares with cash and being told "we'll see if we can serve you eggs". Total crap, and the food was shite. What a disappointment, which is par for the course for United.

Yeah I fucking hate getting on a domestic flight in the US. The quality of flying has really gone to shit in the past 28 years I’ve lived here.
Shitty Airlines, Delays, Morons who work for TSA and Abysmal customer service from disgruntled crappily paid employees pretty much sums up the flying experience in the US.
US really needs high speed rail. It will light a fire up the airlines’ asses to straighten up and fly straight.
Never had an issue with Delta, have always had issues with the other major carriers tho... United, American, Southwest etc.
Manpreet Singh The only carrier I’ve had no issues so far is Alaska Airlines. Rest of them are junk. Especially the Big 3.
I’ll give Southwest a pass because they’ve always been a low cost carrier and they don’t nickel and dime you for every small thing.

There was a local news piece on UAL's' new Premium Economy Service. and it included this sentence. United has decided to move from a 3-3-3 standard economy seating to 3-4-3 to "cram" one more seat into every row. Cattle car indeed.

Wow! 247k at this point! 1M is just around the corner and you deserve every one of your subscribers! Great content, excellent reviews and good reporting of the Joy's and pitfalls of each journey. I love SF and used to visit almost every year from 2003 to 2014. Haven't been able to travel last 6 years or so. Always flew Southwest from Albuquerque to Oakland because it was always much cheaper and I grew to love the AirBart/Bart train into San Francisco to my friends apartment in the SOMA edging on the Mission. Some day I'll get off this continent.

United Premier is such a gift. Only time I’ve used it I was the only person in that area at LAX. When they were having technical difficulties, I was just having a laugh with the counter folks.
I flew a 757-300 first class to O'Hare recently and it was a pretty nice experience. What was cool read how the captain welcomed us aboard from the forward galley rather than from the flight deck (with the stereotypical 60 yr old midwestern Chuck Yeager drawl) .
I love how US carriers us FF status to determine meal priority, what a joke.

You came up as a suggested vid from Sam Chui’s channel about 3 months ago and have to admit, as someone who’s not an aviation fan, seeing how different companies offer differ is brilliant! Becoming a proper little flight nerd because of your channel, Sam’s channel and Non stop Dan’s channel!
Great review/video as always!!!! The food prioritization is not 'Nonsense'. As a traveler I completely agree with UAL's strategy of insuring their higher mileage patrons are prioritized for meals, etc. The higher rewards members are, after all, their bread and butter and loyalty counts absolutely. You always take care of your family first. However, you still got your eggs; probably because someone realized who you are. A critic with well over 100,000 followers and growing exponentially, is an important customer. Please, keep being critical, you are the 'high bar' of airline reviews. Your reviews are well done, well spoken, not boring, and just enough video of parts of the trip to be very informative. Great work!!!! You own the formula.
Especially given that other aorlines do that too. This prioritization is no reason to bash United for doing what others do.

We just flew from from IAH/Newark/Dublin and then back from Dublin/Heathrow/IAH last week. The food was awful. We flew Economy Plus and maybe it's my imagination but the food seems to have gotten worse lately. We flew on Delta last August to Rome from IAH and the food was good as was the service. United really needs to step up their service!

The only domestic US airline I had somewhat decent food in First, was Alaska, all the rest are rubbish.
At least you get food included. Try Ryanair, where a sandwich will cost you €10

Thanks for showing Moffett. I learned to fly there. Too bad the famous Hangar 1 is no longer there. It built to house the enormous dirigible the USS Macon, the last dirigible to serve the US Navy. It was so big it made its own weather inside. I have been in and out of it more than a few times but it was torn down in the last few years because it became an environmental hazard inside with so much fuel and other chemical spillage. It was black and silver, like a giant Raiders NFL monument. It sat on the other side of the runways from the two green hangars you saw.

Wishing you continued success Paul. Where I think you do really well is simple honesty. You are prepared to sometimes fly economy and that's where the majority of passengers will fly too. Contrast that with others who's opinions are seemingly "for sale" - they have no grasp of reality. I won't name names but you know who I'm talking about.
United does things that even Alaska Air won't do, flew with United since the military paid for it but after that Alaska Air became my top airline of choice

For first class that breakfast looked shocking! It would have been better to have gone to a fast food outlet at the airport. How much would economy have cost on this same flight?

For this short flight I would go no-frills economy and make sure to stuff a burger down my throat before boarding 👍

Being an air-travel aficionado myself I love your videos. Very honest and direct appraisals. I've flown United a few times and for their internal flights, the punctuality was abysmal. It's really rather remarkable that the US is so far behind so many other airlines (although UK airlines are heading the same way).
I fly with United all the time in and out of Chicago O'Hare International Airport. I also love your trip reports on the trains. You should do more trip reports on Amtrak when your in the USA next.

Flying out of DEN, I had the chance in January to fly to EWR in a -10, and I think you’ll like it. I was in a 757-200, but the morning of my flight United decided to switch to the -10 as I guess they needed to reposition it. Funny thing was is that the flight was that plane’s first revenue flight which was a bit cool to me. I was in 1A, and with it being a 1-2-1 on the -10 meant I had no one next to me. Can’t wait to see your -10 review!

I think the merger of United and Continental is what destroyed UNITED in their service delivery and quality overall. I no longer fly United for many of the reasons you and other reviewers mention, but especially your last few flights across the USA.

A few comments, yes the power/headphone socket position is incredibly badly located, however, once you have everything set up, it works well, especially the headphone cord being held out of your way when you put the seat down into bed mode. The food....Okay, I took 6 PS flights last year, the food ranged from blah to pretty darn good, out of EWR was better than LAX. There was a time many years ago when I was a CO road warrior, however, I got tired of EWR, if one thing stood out to me it was how friendly the EWR staff were and so helpful, a total 180 from a decade ago.

Pre-departure drinks are always served in plastic for safety during takeoff. Quicker to clean up. American Airlines does it too.
Me before subscribing to this channel: "I am NEVER flying first class! What a waste of money. A bigger seat and some extra food for three times the price? Hell no."
Me now, after watching a few dozen trip reports: "Hmmm, well, that seat does look comfortable....oooh it folds into a bed! Niiiice. Might be worth it."
I was once stuck in Denver because of tornadoes. My flight was able to land but no takeoffs when there are tornadoes

Fly with united into Newark a lot from Heathrow. Never has any issues and staff always friendly. The only thing that bugs me heading back to the uk is the age of the in flight entertainment.
