    Her live album is one of my favorite pieces of music. She has this kind of country/rock voices that are very pleasing to the ear. If she isn't using her red tele anymore I would gladly take it off of her hands.
    I have a friend that spent the last 3 years going through Cancer. Thankfully, they think they got it all and his lasted PSA numbers are clean.
    I have incredible respect for anyone that fights their way out of that horrible condition.
    Big props for Cheryl. Took gut and graciousness.

    My Telecaster has a rosewood neck. I bought it in 1994 and had the frets re-crowned but otherwise the damned thing just keeps on playing for me. I LOVE IT!
    People have tried to talk me out of it but ....uh uh!!
    Whether maple or rosewood neck, well, for me it's...do you like blondes or brunettes?
    And I always say, "YES, I DO!"

    My Tele Nashville Deluxe sounded so good to me and my bassist, that I bought one for him as he played guitar too. On a Saturday night gig, I inadvertently left my guitar in the case near the stage. I went back the next week to find "no one saw it at all". As it turned out the man opening the next day, stole it, took it home and kept if for a few years. I bought my bass players Tele back from him as they were identical except for finish. Years later, I was in a music store 60 miles away looking at an identical one and explained to the store worker that mine had a couple extra knobs on it as it was tricked out by a friend of mine. The store guy asked how I activated the extra knobs and I said there was a toggle switch between the acoustic and guitar knobs. I went on to say it had been stolen and it had a "ding" right behind the bridge... It was a sunburst. The store man said, "come with me", and we walked over to a section with used guitars and low and behold, there was my guitar hanging on the rack, ding and all.... Police were later notified and retrieved the guitar for me. Ironically, the man who stole the guitar played drums and had traded it in for drums and the week end prior to me finding the guitar, I filled in on a gig with this guy in my hometown on a Sunday. My bass player had approached the band stand and said, " Hey Bobby, where did you get the new drums?"... Well, now you know where. Now I have both Telecaster Nashville Deluxe guitars. one for practice and the other to play out...

    Yep. Also, since the late 1990s she recorded vocals while playing her bass (a Fender Precision or a Guild M-85), which usually made it to the final mix along with the original scratch vocal.

    What sets her apart from most of the pop divas is that her voice is so real and genuine. No autotune bullshit from her. There are others too who are real, but many can't sing worth a shit without help from the mixing desk

    I have had two guitars stolen. One was at a gig in Vail, Co way back in the late 70s. We caught that guy a few months later trying to sell it over in Aspen. The other one broke my heart. It was a 1959 Guild Starfire 5, deep red, worn in from years of playing it. Never saw it again but what was so depressing was that the bastard didn't even have the courtesy to steal the case. That instrument was just taken out into the elements to God only knows where with no case. What is it that people feel compelled to steal other peoples instruments. I feel for her. Losing a guitar is a violation and it's very personal.

    I agree with everthing Sheryi saysabout the feel between the maple vs the rosewood neck. She's exacly right.

    • @j_freed
      @j_freed 8 лет назад

      Fretboard. The necks are nearly always maple to be exactly right. ;)

    • @andyhamlett8814
      @andyhamlett8814 7 лет назад

      jonas brave... necks are generally maple (George Harrison's Rosewood neck tele being a notable exception), fingerboards are rosewood or maple.
      I somehow feel it's important to make the distinction... um pedantic that way. 😊

    • @j_freed
      @j_freed 8 лет назад +1

      I have played mostly just my Tele for five years, it's making my Strats and LP collect dust. It's a big soft V neck profile and my friend amazingly didn't want to keep it after tweaking it in fine detail including a custom refret and oil/wax neck finish a la Roy Buchanan. To me it's like nothing else.
      Although if another Tele played just as nice, and had a neck Bucker... never know, a 70's Tele Custom would be sweet.

    • @andyhamlett8814
      @andyhamlett8814 7 лет назад

      jonas brave... hmmm, gotta say I discovered the tele late on, my strat is my strat and has its mojo, my tele then does its own thing... different, but equally gorgeous... between the three of us we are irrepressible.

    • @jamesallen5591
      @jamesallen5591 6 лет назад

      David Mcque I recently acquired my 2nd Tele. And I recently purchased my 2nd Gibson LP (waiting for it to arrive next week). I have found myself playing my Tele way more than my LP, but I don't compare the two types of guitars. There is some sound overlap, but my Tele can make sounds that only a Tele can make, and my LP can make sounds that only a LP can make. I'm not choosing one type over the other; I'm not parting with either of my Teles nor am I parting with either of my LPs.

    How rosewood can sound different to maple is beyond me, I learnt from a very early age that the change in tone would come from different pickups, bridge & saddle type, & what gauge strings you use, as for the rosewood & maple neck thing, it makes not an ounce of difference, I play rosewood because I like the way it feels under my fingers, and it stays looking good, maple wear is not something I like, & rosewood is much faster as it does not have the coating on, that's my take, so deal with it

    You know I always been more into a Strat/Super strat 80s rock/metal shit or LP etc lol but Tele's do excel at the twangin" tone you know it? with a Blackface/Bassman related circuit with All GEs gotta have a 5 star 5751 black-plate triple Mica in V1 at least, Ironic because they sound just as kick ass in plexi/jmp/Jcm Marshall circuits too xD But most people here are missing the point the guitar itself can only do so much pickups included, the real magic is the amp circuit/tubes.

    I've always found Telecaster necks too small and the fingerboards too narrow. I'm 6'2", 225lbs though. Great for smallish English rock guitarists, country pussies (JK!) or girls I guess. The sound? Well that's another matter. Extraordinary!
    I always wanted to build one. Like from Warmoth bits, with a Jackson style neck. Yum!
