Thanks Darren, really great to get your feedback. I was pleased with the microphones and am still exploring different placements, though I find that piano itself is a little too bright - it's been much used! The Clavinova at home is 10+yrs old, a CLP-270. Unfortunately, though I do enjoy the sound, the touch is now very poor with odd notes ringing out substantially louder than others. This has partly pushed me to explore acoustic recording, with the piano I use for teaching. I absolutely agree and Trinity have led the way here in promoting contemporary piano music. This is crucial if we are to engage with and support current creativity, creativity which is an essential element of music making. What instrument do you play? Do you record too?
I have 3 different digital pianos at home. A Yamaha CLP575, a Roland HP508, and my hands down favourite... the Casio / Bechstein Grand Hybrid GP500. I have only recorded one item so far (Over the Rainbow from a past grade 6 syllabus) using the Roland. That recording is on my channel, and I hope to do more :)
My word, you are obviously the person to speak to when I upgrade my keyboard ...and very interested to hear you are enjoying the Casio. I have just listened to and really enjoyed your recording of Over the Rainbow. Lovely expressive playing and it does sound terrific too. I shall look forward to future recordings. Take care,
If and when you upgrade, I'd be very happy to advise... I'm a bit of a tech geek so I do love digitals and digital hybrids :) Thanks for listening too!
God bless you for providing this wonderful resource. First reactions to new sheet music are usually “WTH??” so seeing and hearing your carefully thought-out performance is not only helpful but reassuring. Thank you!
How wonderful, Julian! I think this piece and one from Grade 8, namely Remote Xianggelila, are the most beautiful and pleasing of all the Trinity pieces! I'm happy to let you know that I have finished preparing Handel's Allegro and Chanler's Aftermath. This will be my third piece! I love your channel and thanks for always playing a piece the right way. (whatever the "right" way means, but I hope you understand!) Congratulations on 3000 subscribers and carry on the good work, you deserve many times more! Warmest regards and until you upload again, Saurabh.
Thank you very much Saurabh. Really pleased to read your message. Yes this piece is very satisfying both to play and listen to and it will make a great third piece in your 'recital' for the examiner. Will you sit the exam in November? Thanks for your kind words about the channel, I enjoy putting it together and uploading a new piano piece every Saturday morning. Best wishes, J
A lovely clear sound from those microphones Julian. Out of interest, what model of Yamaha do you play on at home? Also, isn't it refreshing that this style of music is making it into the exam syllabuses these days :)
I am learning this piece at the moment. I have learnt the first two pages at the moment, just struggling a bit with the rhythm. This is beautiful! Well done!
Thanks Zipporah. Yes, I spent a wee while 'feeling' the rhythm on the first page and a little more than a wee while sorting out that tricky middle section ...not to mention the final page! It is a lovely piece ...for us and our audience! 😀
Hello sir one query I have... What is Con Pedal How do we play ??? Do we have to hold pedal once in the start till the song ends or we have to play on the first beat and third beat or we to hold pedal on the first beat of every bar.. Please do reply thank you
I use a Casio and am very pleased with it, but I have also been pleased with Yamaha in the past and enjoyed playing Kawai. I recommend you visit a local store, preferably one that has a large number of pianos for you to try out. Good luck, let me know how you get on.
Sir,can you give some tips on how to go through with dynamics of this piece such as how much soft should a piano sound than a mezzo forte or how to bring that exact difference between the dynamics
Ah, you're quite right I do play it on the slow side here. There's also a video of Thomas Peter-Horas playing it on RUclips. My view of tempo is that the music has to make sense to us as performers. We should take note of the composer's thoughts, then allow the music to run through us (sorry that's sounding a bit wafty!). So, play it at the tempo that makes sense for you ...and especially as you will be performing in public, that you feel comfortable with. Good luck with the competition, let us know how you do.
It is tricky this one ...it took me a while to work out the rhythms ...that BIG line on the second page and the two-part writing on the third. I found it helpful to go really slowly.
Ooh yes, thank you for the reminder, someone else asked me the same. I'll make sure this piece goes up during October (new piece every Saturday morning). Take care,
Good morning Andreou, I have recorded Andantino ruclips.net/video/0aGvdp39OQE/видео.html ...and all the other Grade 5 pieces ruclips.net/video/kPWO-39u9us/видео.html I hope you find that useful - let me know how you get on. Take care,
Do you have the dpf of this piece if yes pls give cause I am in half part of the song cause I did it from my seniors book pls give I want to complete it
Your channel is the best among those playing Trinity =))))
Thanks so much for your feedback. Really kind of you and great to hear. And there's lots more available at www.patreon.com/julianlambert.

Thank you it is very helpful, this is the first piece which I am learning in my grade 7
Have fun!
even though im still in grade 2 trinity i like to listen to these pieces! you make them look really easy!!
I do agree. It's not wrong to enjoy pieces whether or not are they hard.
Got my grade 7, playing this piece, in December! Wish me luck!
This is an amazing piece. Love it.
Thanks for this, very helpful when learning to play it
I finally played the piece I love.❤❤❤
Hi, Thanks for this. Very helpful. Any suggestions on pedal use for this piece? Thanks again
Thanks for this. Very helpful.

'Con pedal' simply means 'with pedal'. It doesn't mean we hold it down throughout, but rather that we use the pedal and change it when we want to.
perfection. Well Done!
This piece is awesome!!!!😍😍💜
So soothing
Pleased you liked it!
😊

Can you please suggest some good digital piano under 1500 USD?

@@JulianLambert thanks

We can apply more weight to play louder, which comes from those parts of our body working back from our fingers: hand, forearm, shoulders.
You always play the pieces the best! :D
Thank you so much 🙂
Very Good
hello can i ask I'm going to participate on a piano competition should i play fast or slow like you play?
help

Just started grade 7! This helped me choose my pieces ❤️
Same
I was supposed to play this for my exam but I hope they still except this song next year!
Yes, Trinity normally have a one year overlap, so these pieces will be good through 2021. Check with your local representative.
Trinity grade 8
Waltz in E minor - Chopin?
Thanks for the suggestion - will add it to my to-do list.
Perfect
Really helped thanks but a bit too hard!😥

Hahahhaha
Uh.. Julian, how long did u take to practice this piece? I have been practising but itz real bad..😅😅
Ah, be patient.

Be patient ...
Hi can you do Eberl Allegro next please?
Ooh yes, thank you for the reminder, someone else asked me the same. I'll make sure this piece goes up during October (new piece every Saturday morning). Take care,
Julian Lambert ok thank you.
Hi Sweden! I've just posted the Eberl video ruclips.net/video/3ZlGRkJ_OfQ/видео.html. Take care,
Is it just me or is a large jump in skill needed if you are moving from grade 6 to 7
Be patient - you'll get there.
Yep you do lol. It's like jumping from a silent meadow to a flippin volcano
I actually did grade 5 and now I am practicing this piece for my next exam
@@joshuaclement6472 same I skipped grade 6 bc of quarantine
What would you say the structure of this piece would be?
Broadly speaking A-B-A1
Can you play andantino grade 5 like this please
Good morning Andreou,
I have recorded Andantino ruclips.net/video/0aGvdp39OQE/видео.html

It's not in the public domain, so I'm afraid not.
@@JulianLambert 😭😭😭😭
Can someone please send me this piece... I really love it😭😭
It's not in the public domain I'm afraid.
Can you do grade 8 pieces
No plans to cover G8 at the moment - but thank you so much for the suggestion.
Hello Julian please check mail. Regards.
This could totally be the credits to a Disney movie
I prefer your way of playing it than the actual author's way, he plays it too fast. (in my opinion)
Thx Pablo.
Yeah, I agree
Totally!! Even my piano teacher said the same
Pablo Goizueta fast is good
No way is it to fast , it is only because the author plays it passionately no offence
Please kindly share the piece with me...
The sheet music isn't in the public domain I'm afraid.
tune your piano dude
Dude itz has okay. His piano is in tune
YEA!
Wow how are you playing so well im learning this song now and it does not sound as nice as this. :))
Thank you Ian - good luck.
