6 months no alcohol. I got up hungover and decidet I don't ever want to feel like shit again and poored everything down the toilet. literally everything in my life is better now. no hangovers for 2 days anymore. no random headaches. also my sleep quality ís so much better. I'm working out 3x a week. cooking every day. not depressed anymore. this also made me realise how big of a part in society alcohol is. new years, new car, new job, birthday, christmas, everything is a drinking occasion. you get looks when you dont drink at a barbecue. its insane.

Just survived going to a wedding. Still sober 127 days strong. Didn’t even have an urge to drink. I know it’s one day at a time but tonight was a huge hurdle. When going up to the bar and ordering a non alcoholic beverage during a wedding you may get looks but at the end of the night when everyone is stumbling to their cars you know you can get you and your family home safe is well worth it. Thank you for helping me prepare for this.

I just want to say I’m sincerely sorry for that.
Thank you. Thank you for throwing a line out there. Sometimes in this world that’s all someone will get. A RUclips comment. And that can be enough for someone to know someone in the universe cares! Sincerely thank you again. And please don’t stop caring in this disconnected generation!

Sir Ducklord : And I guess to just frame it a bit. I’m trying to just stay a few on the weekends, mostly because to be honest. I struggle with adult life and it’s very few pleasantries. Every bodies different but I eat super healthy. Workout like a hound. Have a beautiful family and well.... it’s just different being an adult I guess. So for now I’m gonna try and play that line. If something else better (not chemicals lol) comes along and I don’t beed beer. Then that will be that. Anyway. Thanks again!

Your dad. You fallen off the wagon buddy?
I was a weekend binge drinker a weekend warrior so to speak for 20 years. I stopped drinking 6 weeks before Christmas (ha I've always had terrible timing) I have had to lock myself away from the world you have to do it alone because nearly everyone drinks in some way or another. What is weird is I am fine through the week but I never drank through week anyway but on a weekend I feel down and depressed like my body goes in auto pilot it knows I drank on a weekend. But nearly all my memories have been bad ones with drink so no more. But your body plays tricks on you and u have self doubt sometime but its been 9 weeks now and slowly getting easier but it is a slow process so expect that guys. Funny enough I have not sent any embarrassing txts to anybody in 9 weeks ha and its true your health does start to improve but it's 1 day and 1 week at a time so expect that people. Good luck to everyone on the same journey.

I’m a little over a year alcohol free as well, it’s crazy how the mind and the body will ask you for it but don’t give in. Stay strong, that discipline you will learn to adapt to others areas in your life. The compensation is so much greater than a drink, a night, the buzz. Once you’re detoxed physically and mentality you’ll see things so differently and be so thankful and so happy you made that change! Living mindfully is amazing! Stay strong guys, you can do it!🙌

I’m 10 months no alcohol, my story is much like everyone else’s here but I’m still smoking weed. I should be dead from the fight getting off the drink, I said to myself you can smoke weed the rest of your life if you drop the drink forever and it’s working “for me”.
Alcohol and weed are not in the same dimension...... weed is on a much higher plane alcohol is a solvent that rots you physically, spiritually, mentally, so on and so on. Don’t smoke but let others smoke if they are recovering alcoholics!
I was delivered from hell and was given a second chance by a cop when he baker acted me instead of violating my probation while on probation for my second dui. I’m a shameful alcoholic and that’s my saving grace and life has never been better. ✌️

I started drinking pretty "late" I was 19 and from 19 to 23 I drank a lot and it got me into so many problems that I realized I'm a person that can't handle alcohol. For me, it was either all or nothing and it got me into problems so I just stopped and that was 9 years ago.

Hey, good for you for getting your life together. You stopped a downward spiral and took control. And for not drinking, you have nothing to apologize. We live in a society were people are expected to drink in social settings. And stories like yours are needed so people can understand there are people who simply cannot drink, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's like not smoking, it's a personal choice where health is involved.

In a couple weeks it will be 2021, and I will finally be able to say my last drink was in 2019. I wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic but I definitely was an enhancement drinker and on occasion I would be "that guy". I had considered quitting here and there but then one day I had a catalyst that woke me up to what my habit was causing trouble in my life. I'm at the point where a drink here and there wouldn't hurt, but I know myself enough to realize it would just snowball from there. Also having gone over 400 days without drinking its not very appealing to set the clock back to 0 with just 16oz. If you are reading this and are struggling to quit, understand that I am just an average guy who decided to make a lifestyle change. I am not some champion of will power but there is strength in you as well to take a similar step and start living your life hangover free.

Mate, very rarely do I listen to a whole video on RUclips. But this one I was engrossed! I've gone 4 months before without alcohol (I'm 26 and still enjoy partying), and the person I became after 4 months was light years better than when I was drinking. I became clearer in my head, got back to a low enough body fat to see my facial contours again, and felt overall like a more powerful person. I'm definitely going to TRY and see if I can beat 4 months this time. Or at least only drink on holiday if I go. Huge respect for going a year, I'm tempted to try it and take one day at a time. Loved the video, and hugely admire your turn around.

    Awesome video bro!!!!
I'm 62, been drinking for 50 years. Can't believe I've made it this far. By the grace of God.
Went to rehab 30 years ago, when I was in the military. I had two DUI s. One on base, and one off base. Started drinking again 6 months after rehab. Been married 4 times. Gotta stop for real this time. I think I'm still in pretty good shape now possibly.
Worked out alot throughout the years and took alot of supplements. But I definitely need to give it up, no doubt.
    Good luck to ya!!!!!
    Peace

Carry on man that’s awesome... I have seven months myself and life is a whole lot
Better now.. I have had a lifelong struggle too and finally think it could be for good this time.
Always have to remember that alcoholism wants to give us any excuse to drink and the mind will make
A lot of rationalizations telling ya it will be different this time… But I think you have it figured out too that it never will.
Now for me being sober is a blessing and not a punishment…
    Take care man

I am at day 4 . Early days I know but after 55 years. Ex military and always loved a drink. But as the years progress the veneer comes off and I can finally see what a con it all is.
I have had a real epiphany moment and it feels great!
You are helping me more than you could ever know. Thankyou!

I, a non-drinker, ended up in a relationship with a functioning alcoholic. It was a very scary experience - chiefly because it made me drink both to be around them and to cope with the emotional loneliness that comes with trying to connect with a dependent. Since leaving that situation, I have sworn off drinking. Even casual drinks. I see what it can do to a person - and how each drink justifies the next, and how drinking attracts drinkers who enable more drinking. It’s a vicious cycle.
I commend your self awareness and dedication to your mental and physical health. You’re not only helping yourself but, given my experience, I can assure you that you are preparing yourself for a lifetime of healthy relationships where your significant other will know and love you for you, and not feel the sting of life with a dependent. Best of luck of your journey. Be gentle with yourself and be proud of each day you choose your life over an old mindset/behaviour.
Would love updates along the way!

I had a heart transplant 5 years ago, and although drinking lightly after transplant is acceptable, 7 months ago, I decided just not to drink. I’ve lost 55 pounds and I feel like a new person. I never drank a lot, but I drank steadily.

Good for you dude! I haven't drank in over 12 years. I was never into alcohol even when I started! So many health benefits. Alcohol prematurely ages people. This is why people decades younger than me look my age lol!

This is one of the more down to earth channels on this, I had attempted to stop binge drinking in may, but because of said shitty people I thought were friends I had some real trouble with it, I'm attempting again this turn of the new year, and I'll admit it's hard to stay focused, things upset me and I think ugh, I could get messy right now.
My real friends have been understanding and have agreed to help me out when I'm with them etc, and this time I'm determined. My mind just wandering into uncomfortable places and it's time I just say enough really

Mate you’ve literally described my own process with alcohol. Get ten paces further down the road of where I want to be, pick up a drink, think I’ve gotten away with it and slowly but surely it spirals. Wake up a few months later realise Im basically completely stagnant with everything (job, university work, relationships) other than booze. So I stop drinking and then have to start working hard all over again at the beginning. Madness. Sober now and staying that way, cheers for the video dude, keep it up! 👍🏻
