Since Yesterday is a brilliant electro pop song, the part at 1 min 32 secs is pure perfection and never fails to impress me. I can't wait for that bit because it's so good. Strawberry Switchblade... Scotland's finest. Rose McDowall Jill Bryson
Its the 80s. People who make fun of that decade don't know what they are saying. As I remember day one of MTV I remember that decade and the brillant tunes and music videos that followed. Strawberry switchblade was only around for a very short time but they had a huge impact; Rose and Jill was something.
This IS a great song... BUT, the ENTIRE album is equally great! If you dig this, do yourself a favor and pick up their "Best of" album. It has every released song they put out on it.
I remember at the time I couldn't find the album anywhere. I don't think Warner's pushed it like they should have done. It certainly wasn't in the shops where I lived then.
@@jakemorris8903 not in the conventional sense no but a few songs off of their self-titled have gotten really popular in recent times. mainly ecstasy and 10 james orr street
This song…I’ll pull up to a store listening to it, go inside and hear a different song playing in the store, get back to my car to listen to the song from the store and I’ll see this song still on pause and end up listening to this the entirety of my drive back home
So wrong this video was done by godley & crème who also did the video two tribes godley & crème did a known song called under your thumb they also did videos and song writing for the police group and other 80s groups
It is timeless. It was so odd and different then compared with everything else that was around and has stood the test of time so well. It is one of those perfect tunes where, to paraphrase John Peel, you couldn't add anything or take anything away from it to improve it.
Normally songs with lyrics of ''la la la la la la'' are just using them to fill space because the artist has nothing to say but in this song it fits perfectly whether that was the intention of not
One of my most favourite songs from the 80's. I absolutely love it :) The bit at 1:32~1:40 does crazy things with your ears when wearing headphones... like someone covering/uncovering your ears fast. That's my interpretation anyway :)
This right here represents the mid-eighties for me/ this song is middle point mark .... Everything is before Strawberry Switchblade/ or after Strawberry Switchblade .. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The best quality version on here! Thanks very much @35whirlpools It makes all the difference! This is a beautifully created classic that always brings a smile to my face. Ideal style of the video for them & this song. :)
Just the other day this song came into my Apple Music playlist. When I took a look at the cover it reminded me of indie pop, sorta like the girl version of R.E.M. The minute the song came on and I listened to it, it put me in the mood of chewing strawberry bubblegum and smelling the sweetness. Hence, the groups' name. Anyway, a sweet and light song.
I just read an interview with them where they said it's actually about deciding whether or not to carry on when you're one of the few survivors of a nuclear holocaust. thequietus.com/articles/18759-rose-mcdowall-interview-strawberry-switchblade
Aw, I have just listened to Sibelius Symphony no 5. It's hypnotic. He only died 2 yrs before I was born. Someone on here says Rose ( of strawberry switchblade ) is his granny. Boy do I feel old!!!
I still sing this song in Karaoke for 34 years.
Karaoke was invented in my city in Japan.
Good choice of tune.
Brilliant idea. thanks
This would be such a great karaoke song!!! thank you
I'd like to do this in Japan. Next time!!
Hello to Japan from Spain
完成されすぎてて誰もまともにカヴァーできないね。本当にすごいよ👍
Damn, I've listened to this song like a dozen times STRAIGHT! There's something hypnotic about it.
Welcome to the SS/SY compulsive appreciation society. Did you notice them morphing into the Cross of Lorraine shape on the floor?

Strawberry Switchblade... Scotland's finest.
Rose McDowall Jill Bryson
Probably the saccharine pop instrumental matched with some really dark lyricism?
Not ashamed to admit that this is a guilty pleasure. Its a magic time warp of a song, stirring up memories as if it were yesterday!! ❤
Dangerous song. I can't get it out of my head for weeks after each listen.
Well here's somethin' to help you out man.

I've just seen this via a comment on an 80's page on Facebook.....❤I used to love this song. Now as a 50 something, the words seem so relevant!!!!!!
I listened to this when I was 17 and I still think that it sounds fantastic.
So have I. I love it!

I LOVE this chord progression! For some reason, it kinda reminds me of The Apples In Stereo.

still amazing so much music to discover over the decades that you didn't know about. A nice well hidden gem from the past.
I,ve loved this song since i was a teenager, so now i have many more thoughts of yesterday. Its perfect pop at the highest level !
it's so clear that all we have now
are our thoughts of yesterday 😊
This song is still brilliant even today so 80s when there was still decent music in the charts

Wanna know what a perfect pop song sounds like...
I LOVE THIS!,REMEMBER IT IN 85

Still one of the best Pop songs ever.So quick&perfectly formed. 🎶🙌😁
One of my 64 top songs of all time - an absolute classic song.
Love it. Melancholy lyrics sung so sweet. Jill and Rose were SO sexy too.
Yep 👍
One of my most favourite songs from the 80's. I absolutely love it :)

+terratec1001 One of the most stunning reversals in all of pop music. You are not wrong.
+terratec1001 .
For the time it was a well engineered track and some great sound effects that you noticed.
My favourite part of a really good pop song. You have a very musical ear my friend.
I love that part, too. It is a bit like the breakdown in I Feel Love when the keyboards bounce from left ear to right. Wonderful.
It is called 'panning', the sound 'pans' from left to right 😊
powerful tune. touches the heart strings
It does, but I am not sure why.
Blast from the past 80s are the best songs
This right here represents the mid-eighties for me/ this song is middle point mark ....

Me too. Still have it on vinyl.
Rose is a doll! She reminds me of the brunette from The Bangles.
I knew it instantly! I close my eyes and it takes me back.
Heard on Boom Radio, England May 2022.
Where oldies are goldies.
Way ahead of it's time... Belting song
Its clear that all we have now,are our thoughts of yesterday, how true these lyrics may be
30 plus years on and I'm still in love with Rose...
yes you are www.stevepafford.com/sswitchblade/
This is my favourite music video ever, love em both!
I want to live in their world.
Lovely quality on the sound. Reminds me of hospital as this was in the charts at the time.
Absolutely cracking little song.

I just love them so much. This is the best video ever. Ugh, why can't their album be more accessible?

A nice song from '85. Nice pins too.

The original plastic to this one is gathering dust. Always remember the colours on the album cover acted like a hologram
Saw them when they was the supporting artists for Howard Jones, Brilliant
I loved this then and still do

Oh my thoughts of yesterday of Jill and Rose and of Cindy and kate of the B52's!!!

Lyrics about the concerns of nuclear war /catastrophe. Chord progression from jean sibelius 5th symphony. Wrote in 1913.
Sibelius, Symphony no 5, third movement :P

Yes. I love that Symphony and because of that I've always loved this pop song too.
I recognized it too! ruclips.net/video/FAFouzo3ZHQ/видео.html
