You mean for the video's thumbnail? LOL. I only do a customized thumbnail when the auto-screenshot is too vague.

Hi Teoh, thank you for posting this (5 years ago now, wow!). I needed a good stool for a plein air sketching class I"m teaching because my last one is just too complicated and bulky. This one is perfect, so of course I bought one (the 22" size), through your affiliate link. Draw on!

Thanks, Theo. I was ready for a folding stool and of course, went to your site to figure out what to buy. And you had it. If it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me. You are my art guru. Many thanks. Keep those videos coming.

Hi. I have both models smallest size, the walkstool basic seems lighter. I use a junior hacksaw to take 5 cm off the lower legs ,removing and refitting the rubber stops. Also to balance this up i take off the swivel joint in the middle and reduce the top half by 5 cm.. For me this allows a slight slope of the knees when seated and the ground is closer. It now fits in my bag!

+Glen Morrison Hopefully the company can create a Walkstool Mini in the future. 😂

Hi - how did you remove the swivel joint - it looks like its impossible to remove from the tubes?

So a skinny little dude using it for 1 year caused the feet to fall off and the seat to tear? I was thinking about buying one of these but will pass on it now.

  • @guidlines

I used the stool for about 20 hours before the rubber feet started cracking & becoming useless (in Australia). I think they're poorly designed as they touch the ground on a steep angle, rather than flat, so all the pressure is on the side & not the bottom of the foot. They are good to sit on though.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад

If the rubber cracks, it could be due to humidity issues, e.g. feet wasn't stored properly. Contact the manufacturer or seller.

I have used exactly the same size walkstool for about 5 years now for sketching and I love it. Rubber feet were replaced after two years and it was easy to order them as replacement.
It is perfect for travelling since it can be folded small enough for the bagpack. So convenient to have your resting place always with you and to unfold it a little bit out of the crowds.
Very valuable for sketching at the seaside where rocks and benches are moist and soaked. The legs can be removed easily for cleaning with water after some grains of sand attached.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  8 лет назад

+Rebecca Nelson It is definitely tall compared to other portable stool. This is normal bench height. It is good for places where public seats are difficult to find.

How often do you find yourself getting weird looks from people when you set this up in public?

    • @teohyc

Nowadays, I'm not sure if I notice those weird looks. When sketching/painting outdoors, there will always be people looking at you.

Try removing the feet and the mesh from the top. Then look through the jammed feet and see what’s inside.

There is a lot of wear and tear by them main pole supports that you disregarded
But actually for the price you are paying this is not acceptable
You can get lighter aluminum tripod stools for much less money
And the same weight steel stools for a fraction of the money

Fking well expensive in the UK and heavy as fuck. It's not even small in size!
It's a rip off. This isnt revolutionary in parts, basic.

Dear Teoh: I just ordered one of this Walkstool and noticed that they sell all the spare parts, including the seat and the rubber feet, in case you’re interested. Also, very cheap, which speaks volumes about the quality of the company and their interest in us, the clients. Thanks for the video!😊

You can buy every single component of the Walkstool, so it will be easy to replace the foot which you appear to have lost from one of the stool legs.
One if the reasons that Walkstools are products to last a lifetime is due to being able to replace any component which is lost or damaged.
The other reasons are outstanding design, very high quality components and excellent manufacturing standards.

I also use the Walkstool Comfort. It is a necessity for someone of my size and partial disability. It has been a godsend for touring museums. If possible I bring along a lightweight cheap stool to put my sketching stuff on. By the way I prefer to sit on it with the point facing forward.

Funny - I use exactly the same Walkstool for sketching (in frequent use for 3 years now).
Really solid and simple design, far better than wet benches or hard rocks ...
I tried a cheap noname-model before which collapsed under my weight ;-)
With this one I feel safe.
And it is easy to clean (sand/dust) when you just slide the legs out.
    Happy painting!

Thank you very much for posting this. I just received a Walkstool Comfort 75, and I was wondering how to use it. I tipped over right away with the legs in the retracted (not deployed, shortest height) positions. You are right that I will need to learn how to balance the stool in that position. I will try out my stool in the field; like you I want to use it while I am sketching outdoors. I might order a shorter-height stool. I wish the legs could deploy to any length up to 75 cm. Thank you very much for the excellent review.

If you sit with the top of one metal leg between your two legs, then it may get uncomfortable after a while. For me, I will sit in a way that there's nothing between my legs.
