I think most people hate the kamel system because it feels like most characters feel like they are not done. It feels like an extension of your character instead of having an individual character.

No literally, like air combos are the shit and if I didn't have to perform an elaborate series of finger gymnastics in conjunction with the narrow timing of the kameo animations to build those combos up with every single character in the game (could be different, I stopped playing before Takeda even came out and I bought the $100 version, funny enough) I'd have loved it. It's just holding L1 and a direction in the middle of things just feels so unnatural to me. But it's so physically uncomfortable for me to play compared to SF6 and even TEKKEN

Its definitely works for the combos. How ever..... This is a bad thing to. The regular combos get stale fast so you have to switch up your kameos. And even then the combos are just very stale in general. Sadly the only kameo that really is unique is shajinko. And it's kinda a pain. And no brut last time i checked. But ehh on the combos in general. Just in my opinion. Its even hard to watch super sometimes depending on who he picks in his videos. Cyrax being probably the most skipped videos

Agreed. For me, the cameo system could have worked. But not with adding a bunch of complexity to most characters, making them almost completely inaccessible to beginners. The only character that I can think of who is extremely easy to pick up and at least semi-master somewhat fast is reptile.

MK9 was the best overall to me personally, Story mode. Tower stories. Not only that but the ability to play with friends ina tag team tower. It was great.
I didnt like the kameo system at first. But it grew on me. I like picking a new kameo for my character, and it feels like a new experience. And works as a new way to help with his bad match-ups.
even though i was never able to get the kameo assist timings down and not being able to do flashy combos, i really like the mechanics of it and what the vision was
The Kameo system is amazing it lets u use ur main character but still gives u so many different ways to play since different Kameos open up different Combo roots i feel like thats so much fun, its sad people arent good enough to use them or find it to difficult cause i wouldnt mind seing kameos again in MK.
I’m a fan of MK and MvC so it was awesome how fast I learned the cameo system and how familiar it is to me, so I can see why players that’ve only stuck to MK or players who never tried MvC hate the cameos. We also can’t blame nrs for wanting to try something new for their games lol. We just have to state our opinions about the games we play so the studio can keep making games for us to enjoy.
They should keep the cameo system for the next injustice if we ever get that again. I loved the system personally, needed to be built on and fine tuned but MK has officially been in every genre of fighters damn near

I've been saying ever since MK9, they've been experimenting. MK1 is definitely their most experimental yet, especially since they're trying out assist mechanics. NRS' goal for each game has not been to be better, but to be DIFFERENT. Even MKX was testing out the stamina meter and character variations. I'm used to the kameo system for the most part, but I definitely agree that they're never doing it again. Even after MK11, they deleted breakaways and krushing blows. Since Ed Boon says they've know what their next game is for a while, they're going to listen even MORE to what fans want and put in memorable mechanics and maybe introduce ALL-NEW mechanics.
Cameos there's always summin where u have character combos where u struggle to take your turn or cameos take a great character and make them even scrubbier. It didn't feel like you're fighting a fair fight when most people are abusing broken characters with broken cameos
I don't mind the concept, tho I'd have it be more accessible, every Kameo becoming a Main person to choose and being able to use a Kameo of your own character aswell. Imo it'd work as it's own Klassic Tower. A unique Tag Team Tournament mode even. It is a little bit fast for me to input the controls enough to activate combos with kameos haven't really played it since release though my combo was Sub Zero & Frost.

The Kameo system is like tag-team modes that were broken in previous mortal kombats, but refined. It lets you turn the character in play into a different "subclass." But I understand people wanting good ol' MK. That being said, mortal kombat has always changed throughout the games. So it's nothing new they were experimenting.

I love mk1 it’s a nice change I love team base fighting games like marvel vs capcom and dbfz and having a tag team in mk1 is so much fun , plus in mk9 they had tag team mode and they somehow brought it back but not really but I love mk1 and hope for kombat pack 3
Honestly MK11 was a great thing which they need to bring that back entirely the same that it went out as I don't think I had a MK that was addictive like MK11 was bring that entirely back
The big problem, I think, with the Kameos is the fact that the actual fighters have their movesets so stripped down compared to previous titles. Sure the Kameos let you play around with that moveset, but you're still using the same 3-5 combos and specials every fight. I main Sub-Zero, he feels way more substantial in X than 1 because the Variations shake up his entire moveset in ways that the Kameos just can't. This is why everyone defaults to the Tag Team suggestion. Kameos feel like NRS agrees it would be better, but is just being coy for no good reason and now they're paying for it. Also yeah, Krushing Blows are booty, bring back Xrays.
Imo if they wanted to try assists again they could do it in a potential Injustice 3, or even change it to be more like classic assists. (everything is an ambush basically) I will take kameos over variations, KB, interactables every day of the week though ngl

I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. Mortal kombat 1 is my first MK and I think the cameos don’t really appeal to newer players. I’ve played Reiko+Darrius and Reptile+Scorpion which I think are some of the easiest teams to learn, and I think it really limits the playability of other characters. There’s too many options and assists you have to learn, all with different timings and other small intricacies that make it hard to learn for a casual player. You may be able to sit in a practice a while, learning combos and your assists, which isn’t a bad thing and I encourage, but I think the assists add a whole another layer to it that makes it feel more stressful and irritating when you can’t get it down, rather than playing with a plain move set. I think they also add a layer of repetitiveness to it. Cameos make too many options safe for moves that other wise aren’t. I shouldn’t be punished for someone choosing an unsafe option just because they’re running a bailout. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE 50/50’s!!! Overall, I like the system, but there’s always the complaints. Landing successful assists and keeping up pressure from a losing position feels absolutely amazing, but the whole system isn’t very casual friendly. Including the cameos that are dlc, granting just overall more flexibility to a character, otherwise unachievable. Edit: didn’t realize how long of a rant I just made. Please feel free to give your own insight, I’m interested to see others points of view.
Lucky i didn't play mk1 one thing that i don't like about mk1 is the kameo system the customize your own character and the story mode ending which sucks😔😞 but i really love seeing you play online which is pretty entertaining yeah oh love the video ☺️👍🏼

The kameo system in mk1 really indeed does work like marvel vs capcom assists. But me personally i did enjoy it , but yeah in a way its kind of cheating mechanic to enhance such unrelenting damage and stuff. So in the end we need to head back to basics and nrs would return again to traditional mechanics of mk. I can see how mk11 got lesser combos cause they went to mk 2 foundation where you literally pull like 30 percent damage of combos and thats a wrap. I mean in order to pull extensive damage of combos you need to deliver a krushing blow to do that. Next mk game needs to return like mk9 again.

This always confuses me when people want a 1v1 mode in MK1, y'all do realize MK1 is a 1v1 game? MK1 is a 1v1 game but it has assists, kameos are tied to a button don't press that button and the kameos will never come out. The only thing that kameos actually affect are breakers because you need a full kameo bar and three bars to do a breaker, but other than that kameos actually don't affect anything else.
Keep this game but take away the cameos. For people that don't play much its very difficult. People can jump on tekken and do very well and not spend tons of time practicing.
That's why the game (even with KP3) will never be profitable, like, sure, put everything there with brand new characters and guest but, if people didn't like the kameo which is the core of this game, then nothing will make them change their minds.

Never booted up the game. Cameos is one of the biggest reasons why. I really hope the next one will be a traditional mk game. But first give us a classic collection!!!!!
im just tired of the variation concept as a whole. i dont wanna have to choose movesets just give me the character with everything in his kit and call it a day. just build off MK9, boom, easy.
I think kameo was a good idea bad implemented. No skins for the kameos and they are broken (mavado , chameleon and ferra). The dlc characters are broken when they lunch and they need months to be patched, even characters that lunched with the game are unbalanced (kenshi is broken and subzero is weak)
Ghostface will never return for another Mortal Kombat game you saw what they did with Freddy then next was Jason then Alien then Leatherface then Predator aka Drake then the T-800 then Ghostface and T-1000
I find the Kameo system interesting but i can't help but wish they made a tag team based intead, because too much favorite charaters stays out of the main roster and that hurts the game like crazy... but what killed this game was the microtransactions and woke shit.

I played MK9 when I was a kid and what got me back into MK months prior to MK1's release was yours and Wazminator's videos of MKX and MK11. MK1 is a borefest when it comes to watching and even playing. Asides from singleplayer content like invasions and towers which are an absolute lowest in the series and another type of boredom, multiplayer isn't enjoyable and it is boring due to everyone playing the same 4-5 characters with the same kameos. It's always same combos and same shitty playstyle. Look at Shang for example. He catches you in a combo. What happens for the next 10-15 seconds or whatever ? He ONLY pops up skulls from the ground. That is INSANELY boring to watch and to play against. Look at Cyrax. She does a move or two then catches you in goo and then setups her stupid bombs on the ground, again insanely boring to watch and to play against. Some characters have slow ass moves like Scorpion for example. I swear to god I want to quit the match because it's always scorpion ferra and when they lose they switch their kameo to jax so they can do that unblockable Jax punching ground move while he s doing that blade spins. And one of scorpions kombos is doing that punch/uppercut and that kick THREE fucking times. It s slow and boring. Same shit with smoke And besides all of that you have those stupid kameos that EXTEND that boring shit. I wouldn t have hated them THAT much if they wouldn't make the game so random. "wdym by random?" it's not at all times random but even then it makes it seem so, I cannot stand this kameo bullshit that gives players free passes to do hits like Mavado's bomb trap, Frost's Iceball, Motaro and Kung Lao's teleports and other bullshits that are letting them do those stupid Grab combos or command grab combos and whatnot and it s even more random when they play like pussies and you jump or you plan to do a move and you land in their kameo shit. I have a clip where I was 1hp and an Ermac I think teleported above my head and a milisecond before doing his move I called sub zero to freeze me and so he froze in the air and so I won the match (not_extazzy on discord for the clip) Kameos make the game worse because it gives people combos and unfair advantage at times and most of the moments where you feel like you or they should have dropped the combos they are actually saved by that stupid kameo. Kameos imo should have been an addition to a 2V2 gamemode where every character had a pre determined kameo move list that your teammate could use while spending a bar (or not) without tagging you in I, to this day, I still watch yours and Waz's MKX and 11 videos when they pop up on my recommended channel because they are both more fast paced and more interesting to watch. MKX is just fast and enjoyable to watch and MK11 while being slower but not as slow as MK1 is also enjoyable because of the variations, customization and the brutality and krushing blows system. While playing I do agree that krushing blow is awful when playing I still think that it's good when watching because you guys make it entertaining by walking us through the steps we need to do to get them (not teaching us but it's basic commentary and it's good) and same with brutalities that had requirements to get them. I like MK1 for some of the characters, that it was easy to learn to play and the graphics but that's it. Fatalities, brutalities are amazing (some great some awful but the quality is still there) but they have been in every NRS entry so it's not something new. You play KL and get almost same characters each match with same kameos. Invasions is awfully boring and now they are just repeating the season from the last year with few additional palletes. Skins are horrible, they are just recolors and I want so bad an MK9 skin for Johnny Cage but they release these skins so slow, update the shops even slower and when they do it's barely a new skin. It's 1 skin from campaign refreshed alongside same skins in rotation and when they releaseeeee another new skin, besides the females ones which are appreciated to be fair, it's ANOTHER STUPID NINJA SKIN. You tell me I wait weeks to get new skins in shop hoping it's for my favorite character or at least a cool one for anyone else but instead it's ninja skins for Scorpion, Ermac, Smoke, Rain and Sub Zero ?! And it's not a problem that they get these skins, it's a problem that THEY DO NOT GET RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THEIR OUTFITS LOOK THE EXACTLY THE SAME AND ONLY THE COLORS DIFFER. Story also sucks, timeline timeline timeline timeline everywhere and in khaos reign it's khaos khaos khaos timeline. That's bullshit. We need a proper MK reboot

Listen You may not like MK 11 but the fact is its the best selling NRS game of all time. I like the cameo system but they could have introduced it in a better way, it was for sure not intuitive enough for new players to figure out. You also have to acknowledge that the story, cosmetics and single player aspect of MK 1 is a significant downgrade from Mk 11
I hope to God we no longer have the kameo system ever again in a mortal kombat game. Or krushing blows, I have had to put up with it but they are sooo bad! Please no more. The run mechanic was ok and so were variations (although I prefer we have none). The dash from mk9 would be preferable over the run mechanic in mkx but still..
I would suggest that instead of kameo they should have added a dodge mechanics where it can be activated while blocking by using half a meter like while blocking you have to time it right and press l1 which would consume half a bar , you can hold it to keep dodging or use another bar of meter to counter attack or rollback away or roll forward to change sides plus add a meter consume mechanics while grabbing that would change the animation to a popup or stun to extend the combos
also guys another "evidence" that mk1 is not cancelled is the fact that Kung jin, Kassie, Takeda and Jacqui briggs already "exist" in game(story mode).....so going of on that, why would wb "trow" away all of Nrs hard work and effort, just for nothing? The kameo system to me is fantastic, the fact that the product overall is lacking is what I think hurt it more than people think.
They should keep the cameo system for the next injustice if we ever get that again. I loved the system personally, needed to be built on and fine tuned but MK has officially been in every genre of fighters damn near

I've been saying ever since MK9, they've been experimenting. MK1 is definitely their most experimental yet, especially since they're trying out assist mechanics. NRS' goal for each game has not been to be better, but to be DIFFERENT. Even MKX was testing out the stamina meter and character variations. I'm used to the kameo system for the most part, but I definitely agree that they're never doing it again. Even after MK11, they deleted breakaways and krushing blows. Since Ed Boon says they've know what their next game is for a while, they're going to listen even MORE to what fans want and put in memorable mechanics and maybe introduce ALL-NEW mechanics.
Cameos there's always summin where u have character combos where u struggle to take your turn or cameos take a great character and make them even scrubbier. It didn't feel like you're fighting a fair fight when most people are abusing broken characters with broken cameos
I don't mind the concept, tho I'd have it be more accessible, every Kameo becoming a Main person to choose and being able to use a Kameo of your own character aswell. Imo it'd work as it's own Klassic Tower. A unique Tag Team Tournament mode even. It is a little bit fast for me to input the controls enough to activate combos with kameos haven't really played it since release though my combo was Sub Zero & Frost.

The Kameo system is like tag-team modes that were broken in previous mortal kombats, but refined.
It lets you turn the character in play into a different "subclass." But I understand people wanting good ol' MK.
That being said, mortal kombat has always changed throughout the games. So it's nothing new they were experimenting.
In the next MK I hope they do a slasher pack. Bring back Ghostface, Freddy, Jason, and leatherface and whoever else

I love mk1 it’s a nice change I love team base fighting games like marvel vs capcom and dbfz and having a tag team in mk1 is so much fun , plus in mk9 they had tag team mode and they somehow brought it back but not really but I love mk1 and hope for kombat pack 3

Honestly MK11 was a great thing which they need to bring that back entirely the same that it went out as I don't think I had a MK that was addictive like MK11 was bring that entirely back
The big problem, I think, with the Kameos is the fact that the actual fighters have their movesets so stripped down compared to previous titles.
Sure the Kameos let you play around with that moveset, but you're still using the same 3-5 combos and specials every fight.
I main Sub-Zero, he feels way more substantial in X than 1 because the Variations shake up his entire moveset in ways that the Kameos just can't.
This is why everyone defaults to the Tag Team suggestion.
Kameos feel like NRS agrees it would be better, but is just being coy for no good reason
and now they're paying for it.

Imo if they wanted to try assists again they could do it in a potential Injustice 3, or even change it to be more like classic assists. (everything is an ambush basically) I will take kameos over variations, KB, interactables every day of the week though ngl

I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. Mortal kombat 1 is my first MK and I think the cameos don’t really appeal to newer players. I’ve played Reiko+Darrius and Reptile+Scorpion which I think are some of the easiest teams to learn, and I think it really limits the playability of other characters. There’s too many options and assists you have to learn, all with different timings and other small intricacies that make it hard to learn for a casual player. You may be able to sit in a practice a while, learning combos and your assists, which isn’t a bad thing and I encourage, but I think the assists add a whole another layer to it that makes it feel more stressful and irritating when you can’t get it down, rather than playing with a plain move set. I think they also add a layer of repetitiveness to it. Cameos make too many options safe for moves that other wise aren’t. I shouldn’t be punished for someone choosing an unsafe option just because they’re running a bailout. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE 50/50’s!!! Overall, I like the system, but there’s always the complaints. Landing successful assists and keeping up pressure from a losing position feels absolutely amazing, but the whole system isn’t very casual friendly. Including the cameos that are dlc, granting just overall more flexibility to a character, otherwise unachievable.

The kameo system in mk1 really indeed does work like marvel vs capcom assists. But me personally i did enjoy it , but yeah in a way its kind of cheating mechanic to enhance such unrelenting damage and stuff. So in the end we need to head back to basics and nrs would return again to traditional mechanics of mk. I can see how mk11 got lesser combos cause they went to mk 2 foundation where you literally pull like 30 percent damage of combos and thats a wrap. I mean in order to pull extensive damage of combos you need to deliver a krushing blow to do that. Next mk game needs to return like mk9 again.
How could you not love the Kameo system. You just hate fun. Getting a hit and then call Tremor to uppercut the living fuq out of my opponent is pure dopamine
This always confuses me when people want a 1v1 mode in MK1, y'all do realize MK1 is a 1v1 game? MK1 is a 1v1 game but it has assists, kameos are tied to a button don't press that button and the kameos will never come out. The only thing that kameos actually affect are breakers because you need a full kameo bar and three bars to do a breaker, but other than that kameos actually don't affect anything else.
Exactly. If it was a 2v2 then both main and kameo fighters would have health bars and actually play both fighters instead of the main fighter

It makes no sense unless it was an assist fighting game from the start. I feel like people didn’t like the kameo system is because what you said that NRS didn’t want people juggle opponents with your own kharacter without using your assist. I bet if this was implemented in Injustice 3 instead of MK1 people would probably feel the same way about it.
Never booted up the game. Cameos is one of the biggest reasons why. I really hope the next one will be a traditional mk game. But first give us a classic collection!!!!!

I think kameo was a good idea bad implemented. No skins for the kameos and they are broken (mavado , chameleon and ferra). The dlc characters are broken when they lunch and they need months to be patched, even characters that lunched with the game are unbalanced (kenshi is broken and subzero is weak)
Please let the next mortal kombat bring back TAG TEAM like mk9 had. No kameos or any gimicky crap, let us play with friends again!

I find the Kameo system interesting but i can't help but wish they made a tag team based intead, because too much favorite charaters stays out of the main roster and that hurts the game like crazy... but what killed this game was the microtransactions and woke shit.

I played MK9 when I was a kid and what got me back into MK months prior to MK1's release was yours and Wazminator's videos of MKX and MK11. MK1 is a borefest when it comes to watching and even playing. Asides from singleplayer content like invasions and towers which are an absolute lowest in the series and another type of boredom, multiplayer isn't enjoyable and it is boring due to everyone playing the same 4-5 characters with the same kameos. It's always same combos and same shitty playstyle.
Look at Shang for example. He catches you in a combo. What happens for the next 10-15 seconds or whatever ? He ONLY pops up skulls from the ground. That is INSANELY boring to watch and to play against. Look at Cyrax. She does a move or two then catches you in goo and then setups her stupid bombs on the ground, again insanely boring to watch and to play against.
Some characters have slow ass moves like Scorpion for example. I swear to god I want to quit the match because it's always scorpion ferra and when they lose they switch their kameo to jax so they can do that unblockable Jax punching ground move while he s doing that blade spins. And one of scorpions kombos is doing that punch/uppercut and that kick THREE fucking times. It s slow and boring. Same shit with smoke
And besides all of that you have those stupid kameos that EXTEND that boring shit. I wouldn t have hated them THAT much if they wouldn't make the game so random.
"wdym by random?" it's not at all times random but even then it makes it seem so, I cannot stand this kameo bullshit that gives players free passes to do hits like Mavado's bomb trap, Frost's Iceball, Motaro and Kung Lao's teleports and other bullshits that are letting them do those stupid Grab combos or command grab combos and whatnot and it s even more random when they play like pussies and you jump or you plan to do a move and you land in their kameo shit. I have a clip where I was 1hp and an Ermac I think teleported above my head and a milisecond before doing his move I called sub zero to freeze me and so he froze in the air and so I won the match (not_extazzy on discord for the clip)
Kameos make the game worse because it gives people combos and unfair advantage at times and most of the moments where you feel like you or they should have dropped the combos they are actually saved by that stupid kameo.
Kameos imo should have been an addition to a 2V2 gamemode where every character had a pre determined kameo move list that your teammate could use while spending a bar (or not) without tagging you in
I, to this day, I still watch yours and Waz's MKX and 11 videos when they pop up on my recommended channel because they are both more fast paced and more interesting to watch. MKX is just fast and enjoyable to watch and MK11 while being slower but not as slow as MK1 is also enjoyable because of the variations, customization and the brutality and krushing blows system. While playing I do agree that krushing blow is awful when playing I still think that it's good when watching because you guys make it entertaining by walking us through the steps we need to do to get them (not teaching us but it's basic commentary and it's good) and same with brutalities that had requirements to get them.
I like MK1 for some of the characters, that it was easy to learn to play and the graphics but that's it. Fatalities, brutalities are amazing (some great some awful but the quality is still there) but they have been in every NRS entry so it's not something new.
You play KL and get almost same characters each match with same kameos.
Invasions is awfully boring and now they are just repeating the season from the last year with few additional palletes.
Skins are horrible, they are just recolors and I want so bad an MK9 skin for Johnny Cage but they release these skins so slow, update the shops even slower and when they do it's barely a new skin. It's 1 skin from campaign refreshed alongside same skins in rotation and when they releaseeeee another new skin, besides the females ones which are appreciated to be fair, it's ANOTHER STUPID NINJA SKIN. You tell me I wait weeks to get new skins in shop hoping it's for my favorite character or at least a cool one for anyone else but instead it's ninja skins for Scorpion, Ermac, Smoke, Rain and Sub Zero ?! And it's not a problem that they get these skins, it's a problem that THEY DO NOT GET RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THEIR OUTFITS LOOK THE EXACTLY THE SAME AND ONLY THE COLORS DIFFER.
Story also sucks, timeline timeline timeline timeline everywhere and in khaos reign it's khaos khaos khaos timeline. That's bullshit. We need a proper MK reboot

Listen You may not like MK 11 but the fact is its the best selling NRS game of all time. I like the cameo system but they could have introduced it in a better way, it was for sure not intuitive enough for new players to figure out. You also have to acknowledge that the story, cosmetics and single player aspect of MK 1 is a significant downgrade from Mk 11

I would suggest that instead of kameo they should have added a dodge mechanics where it can be activated while blocking by using half a meter like while blocking you have to time it right and press l1 which would consume half a bar , you can hold it to keep dodging or use another bar of meter to counter attack or rollback away or roll forward to change sides plus add a meter consume mechanics while grabbing that would change the animation to a popup or stun to extend the combos
Skill issue imo I love the kameo system brings more to the game. MK1 > MK11 as far as gameplay goes
