It reminds me of Keeping the Faith by Billy Joel. His inflections in his voice and the horns seriously brought me back to that song, but I love all of this!
They are great! We opened for them in of all places, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Took a damn long time on the check and I had to get kind of prickish but... oh my when they fired up, I was dancin in the street!
"Young Tom Rose" by Ripe is a moving song that delves into the narrative of individuals grappling with addiction and its profound impact. The song introduces us to Tom Rose and a compassionate figure named Donna, who seeks help and support for Tom during his detoxification journey. Donna's primary concern is to care for her family, underlining the theme of familial love and responsibility. The song's chorus underscores that sharing one's story is never easy, emphasizing the significance of empathy over judgment, particularly in the context of addiction. The lyrics express a profound commitment to assisting Tom in his difficult journey of detoxification, underscoring the need for understanding, compassion, and love in the face of addiction's challenges. Throughout the song, there's a palpable sense of longing for guidance and sanctuary, with Salt Lake City symbolizing a place of refuge or transformation. "Young Tom Rose" masterfully portrays the emotional turmoil and struggles associated with addiction, while also highlighting the importance of supporting one another during these trying times.
The lead vocal just seems a bit too squashed. It is losing definition and articulation. Everything else has great presence, yet the vocal seems too smooth against that background.
I found Ripe in Spotify just a week ago. This is jackpot for me.

This song is hands down one of the best things I have heard in a decade. Found them accidentally researching a new mic to get ❤️

Does anyone have an interpretation of what this song means? As in what the message of it is?

Please play Vegas.

It sounds just fine
I have to agree based on how much better this song sounds on the album.
Actually it's a pretty hard vocal to mix imo. Surprisingly hard.
I feel like this mix is a little easier on the ears , more of a tonal balance overall in my opinion . Let me know what you think
