Where are you getting sources? There is no way the new canal would be big enough for all, or even most traffic away from the malacca strait. Also “china solving the problem of choke point” by creating another choke point with a US ally, is a bit silly statement to make.
Even with the canal being constructed, China would not remove all the chokepoints on its shipping routes. So even with the canal being constructed, in times of conflict, China's shipping can still be disrupted by an Indian naval presence.

End result? Almost no difference in distance travelled. This bypass is a scam. The main problem is the country of Vietnam blocking the exit from the Gulf of Thailand so any ships will have to go round it, making it no difference from travelling from Singapore in distance terms.

I think the Secret Key for this to become Reality is Geopolitics. -First, the most important is the Catalyst Spark that would initiate the Start of Geopolitical Realignment of the Countries in the Region. The most probable ones is when Malaysia become a Rogue State, either it become an Full-blown Islamic State or/the Ascendance of a Radical Extremist Leadership that would come from an uprising of Political Islam in the country. -Second, the Leadership will try to threaten Israel Ships from passing in the Malacca Strait. Henceforth, having a to limit Israel from it’s Allies in the Region and beyond, like Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Thailand. We can also include Vietnam and Taiwan which is already getting closer with Israel being facilitated by US and key allies/partners in the region. -While on Thailand’s side, will be Strategically Coerced by China to accept the building of the Kra Canal thru Blackmailing it by using it’s Vassal States surrounding Thailand(Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia)to caused Problems and Issues for Thailand that can only be mediated by China, as long it accepts the canal Project while trying to portray itself as Neutral despite it being a US Treaty Ally. (FYI, China is already doing this Dirty Tactics, like screwing Vietnam using Cambodia as front, example is funding/building of Military Naval Base facing the Gulf of Thailand, and also a Canal Project that will link Mekong River(in Cambodian side) into Cambodia’s Coast facing Gulf of Thailand, that will altogether bypassed the Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam) -Back into Malaysia, the Anti-Israel Policy is at full swing and will be expanded to include those countries supporting Israel, becoming a full-blown Anti-Westerner and their Allies. Because of these, Singapore would be under Threat by Malaysia, in terms of National Security like Territorial, Economic, Food/Water/Energy Resources, and many Cross-Strait Issues would be brought up by Malaysia against Singapore. Continuation: -As Tensions rise between Malaysia and Singapore, Maritime Trade Disruption will be inevitable, especially the Malacca Strait that’s already banned Westerners and it’s Allies because of their Support for Israel. Because of that, Maritime Trade Routes would have rerouting away from Malacca Strait into The Indonesian Straits(which Indonesia is going to openly welcome, Probably Angering Malaysia which the former may dismissed), which initially will benefits Indonesia but sooner the carrying Traffic cannot be sustained and a more reliable Routes are needed, and that’s where Thailand’s Kra Canal Project will have support from Western Countries(North America/Europe/Oceania), and their allies in the region, like India, Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, including Singapore and probably Indonesia. -When this happens and Thailand decided to start building the Canal, it will angered Malaysia and will be threatened by these Project, and China could also not be spared and Issues of Human Rights of Uiyghur Muslims in Xinjiang would be brought up. And Maritime Dispute in South China Sea could be also raised against China PRC. Part3: To be Continue... -Retaliation by the Western Alliance headed by UK, US, Australia with their Allies help would try to destabilize Malaysia, especially on East Malaysia in partnership with US-PH and UK-BR by bringing out the historical disputes in the area and how Malaysia Coerced them to be part of Malaysian Federation. Singapore will support these knowing it's responsible for pushing the States there to be part of the Union only to be left them in a Colonial Status under Malaysia while Singapore goes to become Independent & Rich, forgetting it's responsibility on North Borneo States that left in the Limbo, occupied/colonized/taken advantaged by Malays for their Lands and Resources.
The biggest opposition to this project will obviously be Singapore , but should it ?African countries are also growing rapidly and the volumes of trade with Asia are growing, the reality is the straits of Malacca can't be able to accommodate this increase. I foresee a deal with Singapore where ships going out will pass by Malacca while ships going in will pass through the Canal
Max take. There is no issues with ships passing the strait and a canel would only have a small number of ships able to travel through it at any given moment.
Actually, the Thais abandoned the Kra canal proposal but instead they want to built two ports on each side with a land or rail bridge. That entails unloading all the cargoes on the western side into a train or trucks, travel 128 km, unload all the cargoes into the ships waiting on the eastern side. Any delays will negate all the savings of time and cost sailing through the Malacca straits.

(FYI, China is already doing this Dirty Tactics, like screwing Vietnam using Cambodia as front, example is funding/building of Military Naval Base facing the Gulf of Thailand, and also a Canal Project that will link Mekong River(in Cambodian side) into Cambodia’s Coast facing Gulf of Thailand, that will altogether bypassed the Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam)
-Back into Malaysia, the Anti-Israel Policy is at full swing and will be expanded to include those countries supporting Israel, becoming a full-blown Anti-Westerner and their Allies.
Because of these, Singapore would be under Threat by Malaysia, in terms of National Security like Territorial, Economic, Food/Water/Energy Resources, and many Cross-Strait Issues would be brought up by Malaysia against Singapore.
Continuation:
-As Tensions rise between Malaysia and Singapore, Maritime Trade Disruption will be inevitable, especially the Malacca Strait that’s already banned Westerners and it’s Allies because of their Support for Israel.
Kra canal is most important significantly for Malaysia economy.
This doesnt makes sense
allowing more pollution into ITS BEACHES, A NATURAL DISASTER LOOMING
Great animation
The biggest opposition to this project will obviously be Singapore , but should it ?African countries are also growing rapidly and the volumes of trade with Asia are growing, the reality is the straits of Malacca can't be able to accommodate this increase. I foresee a deal with Singapore where ships going out will pass by Malacca while ships going in will pass through the Canal
Max take. There is no issues with ships passing the strait and a canel would only have a small number of ships able to travel through it at any given moment.
Not decades but centuries 😂
wait, so the canal cost $28bn, and the new land bridge proposal is also 28bn
There is something wrong then. 😂
Shh... both the cost are the same because..... that is the amount of money going into the civil servant's pockets. lol.
Yes, everything you've said is basically what the last section of the video is about
I'll go with the land bridge.
It’s only a rail 🚂 line idea currently nothing about shipping
Doubt USA or China would fight over canal as either party could easily block canal with mines, cruise missiles, you name it weapons system. Interesting concept.
PS - If China wants oil, Russia would be the obvious choice.
It will.
Dont forget fuel ⛽ price
it's. Good to open kra canal
For over 50 years they are talking about it. And it never made economic sense. But it's great for politicans to demand it.
China needs money now! Thailand can bargain low price of construction.
Uhm....them US ships move around....lol
as a Thai, most of us (mostly youth) are more pro US, and one thing i belive in our gov is balancing power a.k.a. playing superpower at eachother, is one thing us thai good at since 1800s
@@Pai_2005 yes good. My comment was about how video said the canal would help avoid US ships. Like they are stationary and can’t be off the coasts of all countries like Vietnam, etc.
How long it will take to recover the USD 28Billion investment 😊
Singapore and Malaysia sponsored video!
🤔🤔🤔intriguing.
Let's see if they hammered there own foot 😂😂.
👍👍👍👍👍
Canal or land bridge are good things.😂
ไม่ให้ทำโว้ยยยยยยย
No need for a canal. Build two huge ports in both sides then link them with double stack container freight trains.
Allowing US army bases near singapore will probably became headache for Singapore as China is moving away. This is going to break singapore for sure.
Man. For every single geopolitical project in the world:
'But theres a problem. Muslims'
Because it cuts through Muslim tribal areas in the south of Thailand.
😠😠😠
usa and uk make big problem to the world, that is cristian.

Low key. Britain and France outclassed every other empire with the suez canal. The US controlled Panama Canal was a leap forward as well. This is really dangerous planning on the Chinese part 😂
very useless project on earth......if it good been invest for the last 30 years not wait until now 3 or 4 days cut not for free may be cost is higher. sound like only dry cgos is allowed if oil product is there oil pollution will impact andaman when it occured
Good job 👍 I love these types of videos. Personally, I don’t think this canal would be created. It’s gonna cause too many issues between great powers. ( cough, cough. the US )
Thailand is literally a U.S. ally. And creating another choke point would not solve the issue. Like at all.
You commis still lose, the US navy can still block it.
It will not be. The current government's plan is not a canal.
@@AL-lh2ht Singapore 🇸🇬 is also a American ally
@@Diglidogg The official term is "Non allied Partner". Singapore declined the alliance but Thailand accepted it so Thailand is considered an ally while Singapore is still officially just a "very good friend".
Plz do Kaladan Multipurpose India-Myanmar
iT'LL NEVER HAPPEN, tHAILAND DOES NOT WANT A CANAL
Thailand doesn't want a Canal. Thailand wants money. (Who doesn't want ?😂)
เพ้อเจ้อ
I live in Thailand, this canal will never be built because it will separate the south from Thailand, there are many groups (Muslims) who want that part of the country to join Malaysia By building its canal, Thailand will lose the entire south to Malaysia.
