Inspired by The Twilight Zone and Star Wars, our protagonist awakes to find himself facing off against an unknown enemy...
Is it a Wraith? A Demon? A Ghost?....Perhaps a figment of his subconscious?
Could it be a test? A mental hurdle? A fever dream? A place between Heaven and Hell? Or is it just a guy who's had a bad day...
Managed to pump this out after Australian lockdown in time for SaberComp 2021 with the much appreciated help from:

Mace - DOP Day 2, driving for 2 hours after his day job to help me out not only with cinematography but that amazing moving vfx shot at 3:27...You're a wizard

Jack - Helping me record Foley and not getting embarrassed while I make ominous grunting noises in a creepy tunnel
Joe - Helping me out with some sound design in the final hours before deadline, especially those cool af whispers, absolute life saver
Dude. This is amazing. The originality of your short, plus the choreography and visual effects it so far one of the best submissions of Saber Comp I've seen so far. Congrats.

This was absolutely incredible. I love the ending too, he also disappears implying it's the saber that gives sickly dark side powers. Also the fact that he disappears leaving no evidence behind. No sign of either of them.

Absolutely fantastic! Someone, Jedi or Sith, who could teleport like Nightcrawler and was proficient in masking themselves in the Force would probably give even Darth Sidious a run for his money.
Commuting really takes its toll.
Some of these shorts are duds but this is really high quality work. I'm surprised the views are so low.

Amazing. Idk who said “it’s better to aim for the blade” but they were dead wrong. The fact that almost every block from either combatant was blocking a potential killing blow makes the fight so

Wow that was amazing dude. I think this has got to be my new favorite entry in sabercomp history. I have never seen anything in this competition that cinematic looking, it legitimately looks better than most big budget films today. Well done

I had an idea while watching this. Maybe this is the battle a jedi would go through when a sith attempts to transfer their essence into him. Maybe the sith chose the jedi because the sith wanted a new force sensitive body and had witnessed this jedis feats in the past 🤔 the jedi let his gaurd down when he thought he killed the intrusion and the sith was successful 🙂

I agree! I didn't have enough time, but the plan was to add a ghosting effect just to the wraith character to make him a bit more threatening. I'll release an updated effects version when I get time haha

@@jeffimsheroky yeah, it throws a whole new twist on things, like its 2 ghosts going at it, or blue saber dude died during the fight and not known it, then takes red sabers place haunting the tunnel

Incorrect 😎 all rotoscoped inside of AE, but yes with added motion blur as I like the effect. I've never used video co pilot..I like having full manual control

How much would it cost to use CGI to make it like a remote planet
Yeah no, this isn't bad but cannot believe this entry managed to beat Exordium. The combat is slower, minimal interaction of saber and environment for the tight quarters, a fraction of the content, minimal costuming or set dressing, and almost no personality beyond "bad guy vs good guy red vs blue".
That's just like, your opinion, man
Exordium was filmed on a potato
And yet it still looks better than this. Quality of equipment should never be as important to a choreography contest as superior choreography.
@@Sumguyinavan_ Maybe my blanket statement of being filmed on a potato was harsh and vague.
I don't think the choreography in Exordium breaks any new ground or brings it past anything we've seen since Anakin vs Obi-Wan OR anything that filmmaker has submitted before. It's really just the same old stuff in terms of moves, the story of the fight doesn't have a clear progression from start, middle and end and the speed/rhythm doesn't change: it's fast fast fast -- stop and talk --- fast fast fast --- and it just ends.
Also if the comp was strictly just for the choreography why not film it in a gym with pvc pipe, in sweat pants and on an iphone? I think Sabercomp is a creativity competition at it's heart and all aspects of the short films submitted must be taking into account not just the choreography.
