Mopar has some serious QC problems ordered new from dealership and plastic lense was jst as scuffed as old one
Ran me about $100
Did it myself thanks to you , saved me $197 that the stealership wanted for a 25min install

if I buy a new cluster and install it will it show the miles that are on my the new cluster or will it show how many miles are on the car. And does new cluster need to be program

Hey again man, I followed your steps and was able to get to the lens of my speedometer. I tried cleaning it but the stains just won’t come off. Could you link me to where I can purchase the lens by itself online so I can replace it? Thanks for your super clear instructions on this vid btw!
Its best to contact your local Dodge dealer or one online and give them your VIN number and let them look it up just incase there is more then one version. Then you can google the part number that they give and see who has it cheaper. Thanks for checking it out! Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.

MotorCity Mechanic. Yea you cant wipe that thing with anything without scratching it. Don't wipe yours. Use a duster.

My 2016 Charger has alot of scratches on the plastic cover bezel. I want to have just the plastic cover replaced. If that part is no longer under warranty im afraid of how much in labor it would cost to have it done. x.x
Scratches are not a warranty item. Laboe should be about $100-$150. Thanks for the question and for watching the video.
Good day. I have a 2014 Charger that I cracked the lens. It didn't appear to have the same easy tabs to remove the lens. I took the bezel apart to replace the head unit which stopped working, and I stupidly used a small plastic pry tool at the bezel and, well, pried right under the lens. I cracked the heck out of it all around the bottom. Luckily it's not visible. I would like to replace the lens though. Will the 2014 lens replace the same way? Once removed pop some tabs and good to go? I sure hope so. Thank you in advance.

I personally dont know. The issue is even if it physically fits.....it may not work properly due to the year difference and possible feature difference. Most of these items are no longer plug and play and require different things to make them work properly.

I have a 2011 Charger that I have to gain access to my TCM how do you remove that cover by chance?

Not sure if anyone knows or can reply since old video but I have a 2011 se charger and was curious if a 2012 dash cluster would work on the 2011 model? I like the color of the 12 one as compared to the 11 one just looks bland. So anyone know if they would be compatible?
I dont know for sure......one thing is that on the todays vehicles you cant just swap alot of items any more. Some are specific to certain years, on some clusters the mileage is stored it in and will not match the vehicles mileage when installed. Typically at the dealer we have to download the vehicle configuration to the vehicle when we replace a module so that it knows all the sales codes and then works properly. Based on all that.....thats why I am not 100% it will work. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe
@@MotorCityMechanic Ya from what i was able to dig up on google its not 100%, some ppl say as long as the cluster is from a 2012 and not higher it will work on a 2011 but u also need to replace the bcm i think they said also but after reading all that even if it works just seems like to much of a hassle to go through lol.

Great vid. Do you know if a 2015 Chrysler 300 cluster will fit into a 2015 Charger? As far as size and shape they look very similar but obviously the key is will everything work as it should? I want that Chrysler blue theme!
I have no idea. Never attempted that swap myself or heard anyone trying it. Its like a human transplant.....the vehicle could reject it being that it was never meant to be on that vehicle based on software versions and sales codes that the vehicle was built with.
MotorCity Mechanic - Yeah, the layout is similar in many ways but then there are small differences (like the positioning of the fuel guage, etc). And ljke you said, it simply wasn't designed for that car. Maybe one day I'll pick up a used 300 cluster and just see what happens. Thanks for responding.
Someone may have done that already but I have never checked into it. I see off to the side as I am typing that there is thumbnail for a video showing the Charger/Challenger swap. 300's arent too much different and in the same family.

I have a 2011 dodge charger awd rt 5.7 and i just purchased a 2012 speedometer cluster awd 5.7 do you think this cluster would work the 2012 and up clusters have the color cluster looking to upgrade mine to a 2012 cluster
Not sure if it will "plug and play" as your wanting. Some modules dont work right like that because they are programmed with certain features that the vehicle may or may not have. I havent tried it personally so I cant be 100% sure.

Morning.....Its pretty much plug and play. Its always best to make sure the software is up to date but its not a deal breaker or something that will stop it from working. The service info states that the cluster should learn the vehicle set up when plugged in and then the battery reconnected. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe!
One item is the mileage.....it may not match. The odometer mileage is stored in the cluster so you may see a difference. The service info doesnt say a clear yes or no. At the dealer we give the mileage when ordering a replacement cluster and its programmed at the manufacture to match what we have on the vehicle'.

The part# that I come up with is 68149020AA. But before you go ordering one......contact your local Dodge dealer and give them your VIN# to be 100% certain.

Yes I have but it's been a long time. Can't count the number of years ago.

It certainly is.....your taking half of the engine apart and there are multiple timing chains you need to line back up. Its nothing I would recommend to a beginnner. Not sure of your skill level but its a big job for sure. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
Like Toochie said, what will the odometer read if I swap the instrument cluster? Is that information stored in the cluster or the pcm?
The service info states that the mileage is stored in the cluster and can be increased but not decreased. At the dealer when we order clusters we give the mileage so that the replacement comes in with the same numbers. There is a chance that the mileage will not match when swapping clusters. It doesnt come out and say yes or no so keep it in mind in case. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe.

Hey man I bought a used 2016 Dodge charger and the inside of the glass on the speedometer is dirty somehow? Should I just follow the steps in your video to clean it? I just dont see how it could have gotten dirty in the first place
I would take it off and see if its able to be cleaned....worse case you need to replace the lense. Just follow the steps and it should go well.....that bezel around everything is the thing thats a pain being that its held on soooooo tight. Thanks for watching and for the question. MotorCity Mechanic thanks man. Bought the car used with only 19k miles one owner from carmax. I just don't see how the inside of the lens could have gotten dirty? You think the previous owner took it apart and got it dirty somehow? I'm just confused. Thanks for your help and subbed!
Maybe it was driven in a dusty area.....you can wash the outside and vacuum the inside but other items arent that easy, could be a possibilty. Hard to say

Hello, can you tell me were I can order the instrument lense from?
The only place that I personally have seen is the dealer themselves. That doesnt mean you cant order it from other dealers who sale online. I checked and the part looks like it costs around $50.00. To be accurate......cal your local dealer and give them your VIN number and get them to look the part up and ask for the part number and price. Then do your research and google the part number to see what the price is elsewhere and depending on who is the cheapest..order from them. Thanks for the question.

Not sure Mike. To be certain you would need to contact your local Dodge dealer and give the VIN for both vehicles and see if the part crosses over.
