Beautiful! Another fabulous post and what a gorgeous corset. Love your detailed videos. This is a wonderful first jump into corset making for all of us who are nervous to jump in. Bravo!!
Ahh thank you so much this helped me so much!! i just got this pattern and trying to make Corset A but I had no clue what a lot of this meant and this just gives so much reassurance.
I like the finished article and it looks to be something I would like to try myself. However, if anyone reading this has made the corset do you think it could be altered to be front lacing rather than back lacing. I have arthritis and need to alter anything that laces/fastens at the back to fasten at the front instead [including brutalising bras which are now all front spiral lacing]. I have one pattern for a corset but there isn't any obvious way I can front lace so that is currently in my box of ''maybe sometime in the future for someone else'' items. That lovely brocade is what actually makes the finished article look so lovely and regal.
You could definitely switch it from back lacing to front lacing! The pattern I used has an option to have it lace up on both front and back, but I figured stick with just one for the first time. I am planning to try the pattern again at some point but make it front lace, and I *think* I could get away with reversing which pieces are cut on the fold. So basically, cut the back on the fold instead of in two pieces, and cut the front in two pieces instead of on the fold. Having never tried it, I couldn't guarantee that it works, but that would be my best suggestion.
💖So Pretty 💖😍 The corset came out so well!!!! And Aesthetic Reveal Shots were so pretty and aesthetic!!! 😆 And I love your eyeshadow and am excited for future pretty housemaid corset adventures!!! 🤩
I'm also just starting my first stays pattern as practice for my first corset! Mine are short stays so I don't have to fuss with hip and bust. and the corset is late Victorian. Love how yours turned out! Look forward to seeing the Edwardian corset video.
Beautiful fabric and details. I especially like the hand sewn eyelets. Since im watching a yr later and i haven't seen all your videos ( yet) I suggest getting a see thru quilting ruler for adding seam allowances. They come 2" wide and are good for marking bias tape & hems , etc. 🤗🩷 Come to Toronto as we have Casa Loma!
Ooh I did pick up a clear quilting ruler just a couple of months ago and it has definitely been earning its keep since 😁 I’ve been to Casa Loma once, but that was about 15 years ago - I absolutely want to go back some time!
This is lovely, and would be perfect for a dressy hobbit ensemble.
Definitely! Costume goals!
Shears of Destiny!
Shiny shears of destiny! Those were a great Christmas present from one of my brothers!
And this is just your "practise piece" wow!
Thank you for this detailed and informative video! Just purchased this pattern and was sorely in need of guidance. It looks lovely on you!
Very pretty 😀
I love your Shears of Destiny. Thank you for making and posting this video. I learn new things when I watch videos like this.
The esthetics! The beauty! My eyes just had a spa day. 😍🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much! And I love the phrase 'my eyes just had a spa day' - I am so using that!
