I’ve had dogs for a fair chunk of my life, but greyhounds only for the last 2 years. We have a moo hound like Scout (Lily) and a big black boi (Cosmo) and they are unique. I loved this video, so funny seeing Scout steal shoes just like our moo-girl. We call them pups too, even though they are 4 and 6. They’ll always be our pups :) thank you for a lovely channel.
How wonderful to find your channel. Your Dogs are just beautiful. Such a gracious and intelligent breed. No more racing just a beautiful life in their Forever Home. 🏡🐶💗🐾🇦🇺Thank You so much for adopting them. It shows others what we should do. 💗🐾🇦🇺🐶🦴
You are such a very good furparents, you really love them so much. I hope people who adopt dogs should think 100x before deciding to adopt as they are living beings and should be treated with respect and love. We have a Pekingese dog that is so spoiled but we love him so much and just thinking that one day he will be gone makes us so unhappy. Pets gave us so much, showing us unbiased love.
Really enjoyed this video thanks! My greyhound has very similar routines 😄 Magnus and Scout are clearly so loved, lovely to see! Looking forward to watching more updates!
💞 This is one of my top 10 You tube videos of any category! Magnus' expressions remind me so much of my greyhounds, Dreamer and Sandylove💖💖 And Scout, you are so cute! Hoping to adopt another soon. This house (apartment! lol) is not a home without a pupper😊. Beautiful and loving video @Magnus Greyhound
Greetings, I very much enjoyed this visit with Magnus and Scout. Greyhounds certainly do spend a lot of time sleeping, but they look so innocent while they are. Magnus is such an affectionate dog. I always want to reach through the screen and hug him. Scout, too. Hope all is well with you and yours during these difficult times. We are all okay here in Port Clinton. Hugs for the puppers. Thanks again for watching. Pups are doing well. Scout did better with the fireworks this year. Still very stressed but a vast improvement from last year
That's very true! I breed Italian greyhounds and they do spend a lot of time sleeping, especially in my bed! I always tell people these are very lazy dogs and prefer sleeping in your bed under the covers. They are low energy dogs unless they are puppies.
❤....I’m so happy that the puppos allow you n your wife to live in “their” lovely home.......lol😂. Your voice sounds very nice on the net. I like your subtle music, too. Most of all........I love your pups! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Scout doesn't seem to understand you can't take her out on a walk if you don't have any shoes 😄 I agree on the benefit of WFH and added dog bonding time, will be such a drag to eventually go back to the office.
Your videos bring me joy like no other. When I'm feeling down, or stressed, theres nothing that brightens my day like a sweet video of Magnus. Thank you and best to you, Magnus, and Scout
I love this channel and your videos of the pups, Scout and Magnus. They are so lovely and handsome. I like the coats you dress them in as well. I share your videos with anyone who wants to know about Greyhounds. ~A fan in Washington, DC USA who hopes to one day have two greyhounds!
Hello, It's so nice to see what your average day is like. My Ollie (Spanish greyhound) and Sally (Gordon setter mix) have a slightly different day. As I live in a rural area in the Algarve in Portugal, Sally and Ollie have the opportunity to go off leash regularly. Ollie can then do his zoomies. He is not very good at recall, so he's on leash anywhere that there are cars. Just like your Magnus and Scout, both of them are great couch potatoes. Thank you for your lovely videos.
Thanks for another great video. We adopted our first Greyhound (Skye) 5 weeks ago and she seems to be settling in really well. Videos like this are invaluable to us at the moment while we try and work out what's normal for these amazing animals. Skye also likes to supervise us in our little kitchen while we cook our meals :-)
Thanks for watching. Glad you find the videos useful. I know what it is like. we were desperate for information when we first adopted Magnus. Trying to fill in the blanks as best I can to give a picture of what life is like with Greyhounds. If you have any ideas for videos you would find useful, just let me know. Made around 100 Magnus videos but they are not always easy to find on RUclips and always up for making more. All the best with Skye.
Our first greyhound ( ex racer) had a heart murmur and a few dental issues, would have him all over again but his health issues did cause us some worries especially as he aged.
My girlfriend and I are going to visit a greyhound rescue tomorrow morning. Will hopefully meet a nice mannered to chap to begin the adoption process! We've been watching your videos for ages for tips and info, do you have any tips on things to look out for in the initial meeting? Thank you!
I adopted on 7th October. Unfortunately since then my dog has developed anxieties and is very sensitive to sounds and so these stupid bombs disguised as fireworks going off tonight aren't helping. It might go well, but be ready for some training and behavioural problems. He was fine in his foster home too :(
Spend as much time with the dogs as possible and ask lots of questions. We were lucky with our adoption as we got to spend a lot of time with the greyhounds so you can see more of their personalities. The first time we walked Magnus he was a complete nutter, so hyper and so strong. He was so hard to control. In his defence he was just come from the track the day before. I thought this dog is too much and maybe we should get another less hyper dog. The second week we went back. They gave us Magnus to walk again. I was hesitant at first, but Magnus had calmed down a lot over his week in the kennels. He was also super affectionate at this point. Had we not gotten to spend the extra time with Magnus we would never have known what he was really like. The crazy dog turned out to be the perfect dog for us. So I guess I am trying to say is consider them all. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have
Thanks guys, really helpful replies! The shelter will make recommendations based on our requirements and suggest we walk as many as we need at a local park. Once a choice has been made it'll be a few more visits, including a home visit with the dog. Numerous visits is something we're definitely going to do, we've done plenty of research and have wanted to do this for many many years, so have had alot of advice over the years. I'll be sure to ask more questions as and when I need to! Thanks again
I’m really glad that to read that Scout got through last night. Thanks so much for your videos, I love watching them, they helped me decide to get my pointy nose rescue. After 8 months he’s still afraid of the outside world, my behaviourist has suggested getting a second to help, however being single I’m a bit worried about the practicalities of walking them. How do you find walking them both by yourself? How is your car set up to transport two? And finally I really like the blue coat with the fleece lining...what brand is it? Sorry for all the questions 😇😀
She did a lot better than last year so I think the training we did with her helped. Scout is an anxious dog. She was scared of a lot of things. Having Magnus around does help as he is not bothered by anything and Scout learns things by watching Magnus. What issues does your dog have. We are always doing little bits of training with the pups which I think helps. Walking 2 dogs on your own card be very hard at first if they want to go in different directions or if one decides they do not want to walk anymore. We did a lot of stop and start training to get scout to stop pulling as she had two modes at first. Pull like crazy or suddenly refuse to walk. Scout now walks well on lead but the first year was hard. The car situation is that Magnus is in the trunk/boot of the car (hatchback) and Scout is in the back seat. Magnus is a big greyhound so it is a bit tight to have them both in the back. Both our pups are obsessed with car rides so we never have any trouble getting them into the car. Getting a second dog does not always help with the issues although it can sometimes. Best to try work on the issues as best as you can and not rely on the second dog sorting the issues. Magnus had a bunch to work on as he had bad separation anxiety, sleep startle, resource guarding and a crazy prey drive. The good thing was that he was food obsessed which really helped getting him focused and made him easier to train. Scout had a lot of anxiety issues as she was scared of everything except the car. Scout has less focus than Magnus so she has been harder to train and it has been a slower process, but she has come on a lot. She is more confident these days and is happier for it. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have.
@@magnusgreyhound wow, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. In the first week of having wonder someone in the street near mine let off fireworks (in March) so he was afraid of going in the back garden and was was too afraid to walk outside the house. It took 2/3 months to get him to step out of the front door ...jumping forward to 8 months I can now get Wonder into a car (which he seems to love going in) he loves visits to a secure field and will walk in woodlands but when I’m by myself he stops a lot but with patience and by the power of chicken he snaps out of it. When I’m with a friend he does so much better and we can do more pavement work. I can’t yet walk him along the road on a lead outside my house but he does better in other areas when I’m with friends. The other issue...which is turning out to be a bigger issue is that he has a fear of hot air balloons (this is a pretty big issue living in Bath) which has somehow transferred to him being afraid of the moon in the morning (it sounds bonkers), but he’s currently soiling in the house every morning and then after 10am ish he’s brave enough to venture into the garden to go to the toilet. He actually physically shakes if he sees the moon 🙈. I am working with a clinical behaviourist so Wonder is currently on meds for fireworks and should be going on them long term when his bloods etc come back from the vets. I think the thought is is that with a brave mate he would go out into the garden and over time his walking would improve. He is such a gentle soul, I love him to bits and want to make sure he is happy...he is also a big boy at 41kg! I thought the walking could be an issue as they walk so beautifully with your wife when you film them ...I was imagining her with my Wonder and having a little giggle thinking what it would look like when wonder wants to wander...wonder looooooves sniffing and so could definitely imagine with two that they’d have different walking plans. Thanks very much for your response. I need to have a big think.
Is there anyone you know that has a greyhound or are there any groups in your area that you can go on a walk together as this might help his confidence. We have a greyhound in our neighbourhood who we meet up with for walks. Scout gets super excited to see finn. We also go on our greyhounds kennels Sunday walks as it is good for their confidence. This may help in the interim.
Hi guys brilliant video as always your incredible and Magnus and scout are gorgeous I love greyhounds, can you do an updated diet video for them in terms of everything they eat thanks
I would love to see a new food video too! I have a retired racing greyhound I feed home-cooked food to (with added nutrients) and am curious about switching to a raw meat-based diet. Do Magnus and Scout still consume grains? I think I remember in an older video you used to add rice to their meals.
I've look for my female Greyhound in US breeders are pricey I need to find a rescue in U S Zena the Greyhound loves the videos music and your voiceovers she watches over and over Thank you A gift to the world
@@magnusgreyhound I told Zena Magnus and Scout said Hi to her little eyes lit up her favorite is An ordinary day with the Greyhounds. Thank you for the fun God Bless The Ming
Hopefully you will. According to a lot of adoption groups we would have been declined, as I did not meet a lot of the requirements to adopt; and I think we do a pretty good job as greyhounds
My partner and I might be adopting a greyhound (going to meet one at the weekend!) and I'm mainlining your videos xD Can I ask what your house rule is about dogs on the sofa? I'd like to have a cuddle in the evenings without sitting on the floor, but don't want to invite possessive behaviour over the sofa.
Good luck with your adoption process. Hope you find the videos useful. Our pups are not allowed on the sofa or our beds. Magnus is too big and would take up too much space. We have beds for the pups near our sofa and beds. They will also often ly around our feet. So they are easy to pet. Magnus also has sleep startle so definitely not worth encouraging him to sleep on the sofa or bed.
Lovely video as always. We have had our girl three months now and she is gorgeous. I would be interested to know where you got the collapsible stools for their food. I have a raised food dish but have to put two box files under it for Molly each time we feed her?
We got them from a store called B&M. I think you may also be able to get them on Amazon. We now use the old raised feeder as the water station since we have the 2 pups. The stools are great as they can fold away for easy storage.
Where is the best place to get a greyhound from? I did want a pup because we have a young family. It's sad because some are priced so cheaply as if people don't want them. They are a beautiful breed that stand out from the others.
How are the pups with guests? I'm looking to adopt a grey as my first dog and though it'll mostly be just us two (or three!) I have friends and family round often and want to make sure I won't be stressing them out too much. Love the videos.
Our pups are good with guests. They will come to the door and greet them but then they will just go back to what they were doing which is usually sleeping somewhere.
Great video, i take it they don't get off lead? how are they when other dogs run up to them when out on walks? We're in East Lothian and have a rescue lurcher.
Thanks for watching. The pups only get off lead in safe enclosed areas as their prey drive is too high. We do go to the dog park near Dalkeith so they can run around off lead. The pups are okay when other dogs come up to them. Although Magnus is not a fan of hyper dogs or dogs that jump up on him.
They seem to be pretty compliant with not eating your food, getting their paws washed and teeth brushed etc. Are they naturally that compliant or is it something you have to work at? Greyhounds are my absolute favourite but I have yet to have on in my life. Hope to one day. I'm just finishing a fundraising book with Greyhounds in it that I've photographed. Met so many awesome hounds!
Due to all the handling during their early years. Greyhounds are generally very compliant. They are also naturally compliant. The not eating our food thing was due to us doing leave it training with Magnus. He did try and countersurf when we first brought him home. As he was so food obsessed, it was fairly easy to train him out of this in a couple of weeks. Scout learnt by watching Magnus. All the best with the book.
Happened at some point during his racing days. I have seen pictures of Magnus with the tail in Ireland and then pictures of him without when he was racing in Ireland. Not sure what happened. Not documented anywhere.
Some greyhounds are fine with cats. We have a friend who owns a greyhound who lives with 2 cats. The adoption group should be able to find greyhounds that are cat safe. Thanks for watching
Hi. How did you manage to get them up the stairs. i have a new greyhound adoption and the stairs are still a no go area for him. And he certainly doesnt sleep as much as yours. He loves exploring and going places. Where did you get the bone interactive toy?
Thanks for watching. I have made a video about teaching our greyhounds how to do stairs. ruclips.net/video/StMKonAQla8/видео.html Magnus slept less when we first got him. After 6 months he started to sleep a lot more. We found our toys at some local pet stores and some from amazon.
thank you i have had a look at the stairs. will give it a go. 😊Hopefully he will settle down soon .we are only in the first 3 months and he still follows me around like a shadow.
@@lecorris Stay patient! Our retired racer Barry took 6 months to stop shadowing and settle into home life. We also found that outdoor stairs were good for his learning, he seemed more interested in trying them (especially places where other dogs walked so the sniffs were enticing!) Hope your boy settles in to his new home soon :)
@@caerfai22 . Thank you for the support. This adoption has been hard(my 2nd greyhound rescue). Lots of damage when left. He is getting better. has started to realise i am comming home. I have found he is happier with out door stairs. 😊
We have the house collar which they wear from their first walk until bedtime. We have tags on these collars. If they were to escape they would have the collar on with the tag. It's also easier to catch a hold of them if they attempt to escape rather than being collarless. We use these rather than the martingale (which we only use for walks) as the martingale is heavier and could get caught on things. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching
Thanks for asking. Magnus is not fussed by the fireworks. Scout on the other hand does not like fireworks. She had a terrible time last year. This year she did a lot better. Still very distressed but none of the violent shaking that she did last year.
I have made a video about the pups diet. The have chicken thighs for breakfast. They get natural instinct working dog chicken (minced chicken with bone and vegetables) we also add Sardines in tomatoe sauce and we grate in some veg such as Carrots, Brocoli stem, or whatever spare veg we have at hand.

Love Scout’s shoe hiding game. I wonder what’s going through his head when he does that!
We wonder too. Thanks for watching.
My partner and I might be adopting a greyhound (going to meet one at the weekend!) and I'm mainlining your videos xD
Can I ask what your house rule is about dogs on the sofa?
@@magnusgreyhound Thank you. Looking on Amazon. Happy Christmas to you and the pups x
If you have Aldi where you are keep an eye out as they get them as special buys.
Where is the best place to get a greyhound from? I did want a pup because we have a young family. It's sad because some are priced so cheaply as if people don't want them. They are a beautiful breed that stand out from the others.
The best thing is to make contact with your nearest greyhound adoption centre. They should be able to help you out.
I have miniature Greyhounds....my bitch is expecting a litter at the end of this month 💜🙏💜
Did I see a bit of teeth chattering at the beginning when Magnus was having his morning cuddles 😁
You probably did.
how did your routine looked like when you both worked not at home. Im thinking about adopting one or two. I work from 10 to 6 Monday -Friday
We had a dog walker and used to use day care so the pups were only on their own for a couple of hours at a time
How are the pups with guests? I'm looking to adopt a grey as my first dog and though it'll mostly be just us two (or three!) I have friends and family round often and want to make sure I won't be stressing them out too much. Love the videos.
Our pups are good with guests. They will come to the door and greet them but then they will just go back to what they were doing which is usually sleeping somewhere.
Perfect dogs! I have 8 of them and they are very affectionate and well behaved 😇
Italian greyhounds are also quite passive and compliant. It's typical behavior.
Just trying to decide whether to adopt a greyhound
Feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
Just noticed (after years of watching your videos) that Magnus has a shortened tail. Care to share with us how that happened (if you know)?
Happened at some point during his racing days. I have seen pictures of Magnus with the tail in Ireland and then pictures of him without when he was racing in Ireland. Not sure what happened. Not documented anywhere.
Hey, really enjoyed the video. Im really desperate to getting a greyhound but cant be sure as i have a 2yr old cat. Any suggestions?
Some greyhounds are fine with cats. We have a friend who owns a greyhound who lives with 2 cats. The adoption group should be able to find greyhounds that are cat safe. Thanks for watching
Get an Italian greyhound! They're fine with cats or any type of animals because they are extremely passive. 🤗
Hi. How did you manage to get them up the stairs. i have a new greyhound adoption and the stairs are still a no go area for him. And he certainly doesnt sleep as much as yours. He loves exploring and going places. Where did you get the bone interactive toy?
Thanks for watching. I have made a video about teaching our greyhounds how to do stairs.
ruclips.net/video/StMKonAQla8/видео.html
Magnus slept less when we first got him.
Hi, where do you guys get your greyhound specific accessories from?
All over the place. Mostly greyhound specific online stores and some from Amazon.
i have a greyhound/plott hound mix ... love her so! Why do you use two collars? i have my dogs tags on her martingale
Mi hijo lleva un collar con el nombre del perro y el telefono mobil , por si se escapa , aparte del collar ancho para salir, saludos
We had a greyhound that would move bricks that we had in the backyard.
That would be interesting to see.
*hugs magnus*
Thanks for watching
I have a dog similar to Magnus
Thanks for watching. What's yours called.
@@magnusgreyhound Patch :)
How long do you wait after walking to feed them to avoid bloat?
It is usually the opposite you do not want to walk them after they have eaten. There is usually an hour between eating and activity
I hope Magnus and scout got through last night ok
Thanks for asking. Magnus is not fussed by the fireworks. Scout on the other hand does not like fireworks. She had a terrible time last year. This year she did a lot better. Still very distressed but none of the violent shaking that she did last year.
@@magnusgreyhound Apollo wasn’t too bad last night. We did have the tv turned up. Luckily they don’t seem to bother him
What is your raw food diet?
I have made a video about the pups diet. The have chicken thighs for breakfast. They get natural instinct working dog chicken (minced chicken with bone and vegetables) we also add Sardines in tomatoe sauce and we grate in some veg such as Carrots, Brocoli stem, or whatever spare veg we have at hand.
I don't guess greyhounds are that easy to have when you have no garden for them to use. Apartment living is the pits.
We used to live in a third floor apartment when we first got Magnus. It is easier when you have the garden.
Just letting you know. It looks like Magnus footage was used in this video. ruclips.net/video/UjzxSwIqQd4/видео.html
Thanks for letting me know. Have reported it on RUclips
@@magnusgreyhound That shorter, fluffy tail of his stands out a mile away.
I really liked your post. Greyhound's make the best pets. I made a post " More Than Just A Dog ". Check it out I think you might like it,
Thanks for watching. Will check it out.
I agree. I got hooked on them in 2000....and now have 8 beautiful miniature greyhounds 🥰😍🥰
Hi, I wanted to ask everyone to consider adopting, saving the life of a Galgo or Greyhound. Scooby Medina, Galgos en Familia, Galgos del Sol, Galgos del Sur among others are doing great work helping animals that are abused, tortured to death. Feel free to reach out to them, donate, save one of these sentient beings. Much luv 🤍
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment and share this info
Know the routine. Thanks for the look.
Just wanted to help out some new adopters who wanted a glimpse into daily life. Thanks for watching.
