That is the line that fully sold me on this song. My sister played it for me and I was like "this is kinda catchy" but that one line was so poetic and sung with such emotion I had to go back and reevaluate the whole song.
This album was GENUINELY one of the most beautiful albums that I've heard to date. It's an instant classic. Give it a listen when you're on a long drive
Don’t listen on a long drive. You might end up driving off the edge of the road! I like it, but it truly is a sad album. Just like he described where he was from lol
Noah on genius!?! All time favorite writer/artist. Noah is just as incredible live & has always been one of the kindest people to meet. His recent growth is beyond deserved ❤️
Me too. It’s true. Even before I heard that lyric I started realizing I went from a funny, super laid back person who was always joking, to this quiet, anxious, depressed person who lost his sense of humor. Hard to be funny when you’re sad af. 10 years of amazing memories become 10 years of sad memories and you start to question everything you do and say….which leads to this state. When I heard those lyrics, I knew exactly what he meant.
Noah is a perfect example of what happens when you're an insanely talented writer, have an incredibly unique voice, and create a pop-like version of an old genre (such as folk) that your unique writing style and voice fits well, you're bound to be one of the greatest artists of all time.
I love this man so much, I’ve been listening since busyhead and he never disappoints. I’m going to miss when his tickets were $50 but I’m glad he’s getting the credit he deserves
I saw Noah & Dean Lewis in San Francisco before Busyhead came out, and the tickets were $15. It was such a great show, in a really small venue, and now I’m paying 10x that price to see him in an amphitheater, which is crazy!! I’m really happy for his success, though… he’s insanely talented, has worked incredibly hard, and deserves every good thing!
I so regret not going to a concert a couple years ago.. now I had to pay so much to go to a sold out packed concert instead haha. Can't wait to see him this summer!!
Man I was thinking about going to one of his shows this summer in vancouver but its $120 for tickets at the worst seats and $200 for decent seats at a medium sized venue. Crazy and unfortunate because I cannot afford that lol
As a Canadian I knew right away what he meant, like that depressing season between October and the snow in December that just drags on and just feels like you're stuck in a constant in between and all your college friends are away till the Christmas break. Summed it up so well in a few lyrics just brilliant.
@ibuyfriends4467 2 things wrong with this, first of all, not everyone likes the way he sounds. There are billions that don't. And second, even IF everyone liked how he sounded, claiming that that makes him good would be an adpopulum fallacy.
@@xsconflicttheory2784 2 things are wrong with what you said, then, if you want to be like that. First off, you don't need to bring other singers into this for no reason when he is an amazing singer. And he also wasn't missing every note. Not everyone sings perfectly at all times, but he performed well.
This is my 5 year old's favorite song, and the first time I've seen him pick up on subtext in a song - he asked me what happened to the singer's "friend" and why they were gone. Really speaks to Noah's ability to capture emotions in his music that it has such a wide audience.
Oh my god he’s so talented. I am in love with this song. Brilliant lyrics. So relatable to being stuck in a small town in the winter where you can’t get away from the reminders of the one who left you
I do feel very proud of him for finally getting the attencion he deserves. i have being a fan since the beginning and I know he never disapoints because his creations were always very creative and made with passion. My favorite one, so far
I discovered his songs in a 4 month depression and i love it. People say " why dont you listen to popular singers " or " you dont have good music taste " but i listen because i love it, not because of his popularity
This is the best song I've heard in 2023. I don't know how to explain this feeling, but this song combines completely different things. This is good sadness. Even though the lyrics are very sad, Noah sings these lyrics in a way that makes you not as sad as you should be. This song is filled with love, emotions, disappointment, and reflection. Thank you very much for this song, it will be another piece of my heart. Thank you 🙏🏻
I grew up in PA but I instantly knew exactly what he meant by stick season and I really got into his music over the last 3 years as I been in college (I heard and loved his song Hurt Someone years ago) but as I’m going to school in the South, his entire discography has a very very nostalgic feel for me. His voice and the levels to his lyrics are insane

My dad grew up in Vermont and although I've only visited a few times (in the summer) I can feel the stories he's told me about winter and "stick season" in Noah's songs. Brilliant writer with a beautiful voice!
I’m not from a small town and we barely have seasons where I live and I’m not going through a breakup but I related to every single lyric and that’s what good music does ❤
As a fellow Vermonter, we are incredibly proud of Noah. I love this song so so much. Musically, one of my favorites. Lyrically, I can relate to the sentiments. The dad line is especially personal to me because, paired with the dad line in Catastrophize, it describes mine. Poetically, this song describes my relationship with the place I grew up in. I miss it desperately but I can't go back. The place I grew up in doesn't exist any more, I wouldn't want to go back even if I could afford it. It moved on, it grew without me. The people I loved moved out, forgot about me, and I'm too ashamed of how I've wasted my life to try to reconnect. I grew up in small town in Washington state and when there's light rain here, I think of it. I had a vacation planned to go back and visit for my birthday in early 2020, but Covid made me cancel. I still haven't been back I've been depressed for years, and I've made very few friends in the places I've lived. The past year or so I've been opening up and "piling something good on all the bad" but I still get hit hard with depression, and it's made it very hard to sustain relationships or find a career worth doing.
