- I believe in the resurrection of the flesh.
Just as Jesus Christ conquered death by dying and gave us life by rising from the dead, every person will get their body back. Those who are lost will have the bodies in Hell, and those who are saved will have their glorified bodies in Heaven. What will those bodies be like?

At 64 years of age...born into and still residing in the Catholic Church 12 years of Catholic school, 4 years of a Master's program in pastoral counseling at Loyola, how many books have I read on saints and our faith, how many Masses have I attended and homilies heard?! I have NEVER heard this before. It is a HOMILY OF HOPE, so powerful that if everyone could hear this, explained that our humanness will never disappear, only be perfected, who would not turn to Christ? I want to show this to everyone, especially those who are deeply suffering physically, fearing death, rather than seeing it as a "passing on". I am lifted up in spirit today to a new height! Thank you and may God continue to bless you in your ministry.
I agree!!
I totally agree, which is the reason I view Father Mike's homilies every week, even though I do attend Mass at my local parish. Father Mike always speaks the truth with love!
I agree and thanks for your testimony based on your history with Catholicism. At the same time I do wonder how accurate this is or if any discrepancy to what the Catholic Church teaches as far as us retaining our own bodies. Also the very fact you admit you NEVER heard this before. I've also had 6+ years of Catholic school and far as I under stood it, just as it says in the bible there won't be wife and husband so to speak we also will be more of a spirit than a body. What too of those people that really don't like their bodies or find fault even though they are mostly healthy and in decent shape?
Fr. Mike explains things like this really well. With all respect to you, both my husband and I knew this from elementary school Catechism. My husband is 6 years older than me and was taught the Baltimore Catechism. I am 62 and post-Vatican 2 and I specifically remember being taught this by the nuns when I was a kiddo. Fr. Mike has a true gift of explaining the mysteries of God in such a down to earth way that I think we can feel like we are hearing this for the first time. Like Kathleen said, I go to my parish Mass every week, and also listen to Fr. Mike's sermons, Bishop Barron, and Jeff Cavins' reflections. I get amazing and beautiful perspectives that deepen my faith. As Fr. Mike always says: WHAT A GIFT!
We are all made in the Image and Likeness of God. If and when we go to heaven we won't be concerned with our looks. We will be at peace giving glory to God.
When you think you have heard it all. Wow! Thank you Father Mike. This homily goes beyond anything I would have expected to hear and learn. Amazing! Happy Easter.
I'm speechless. This was life changing. Praise God and Blessed Easter to all.
Happy Easter to all. Thank you Fr Mike, please pray for me, my son, his wife and my husband , we will pray for you. God Bless you all
I got Confirmed last night at Easter Vigil and THE JOY IS UNIMAGINABLE 🎉❤🪻💐🐑✝️ I don't have words besides Thank You Jesus, Mary I love You with all my heart! An unforgettable experience!
Thank you Father Mike, I love your Homily, but I am a little confused! I did not expect it. But I truly want to believe it with all my heart. Help me -------?
I have to add this, my mother passed away in 1978 . This one night in 1985, I was in bed trying to fall asleep and suddenly I saw an image of my deceased mother floating above my bed dressed in a beautiful blue gown. She looked very young and was smiling. She said to me, ' l had to come and tell you how happy I'm here.' I noticed she had both legs, and I was surprised, because she was an amputee. And again she said I'm so happy and I had to come and tell you. And then she just floated away. That was the year 1985. She never came again, I know it was not a dream.
Happy Easter. He is Risen. Thank you for everything Jesus! God Bless everyone❤️🙏🏼
He is Risen Indeed! 🙏🏻😇
God bless you you too🙏🏼
Hello Sammy, how are you doing over there? i read your comments, i like that.❤❤
Happy Easter to all of my brother and sister believers, special prayers for you, Father Mike, I love you so much, thank you for all you do for us 🙏😍🙏😍🙏😍🙏😍
As a 73 year old lapsed Catholic, my interest got snagged first on Father Schmitz's tatoo video. His energetic speech delivery almost seemed frenetic. Then I spotted the Easter video and took a peak. Never have I heard a priest so buoyed up with belief ,enthusiasm and desire to spread the message as if there is not time enough in the world to reach everyone but die trying. Never when going to church have I ever had Christ's Resurrection explained in terms of our own body. May God grant Father Mike a long and fruitful life spreading the Gospel.
Thank you Father Mike. I am in this process to conversion and I usually loathe my body, I am a woman in my late 30s. I now know that it's the devil who wants me to hate it, he knows it's my weakness and knows how to play games in my mind. I am 100% sure that Jesus talked to me through you in this video to understand the importance of the flesh and soul and how I need to start loving my body and helping it to follow my number one and most beloved prototype: Jesus! Thank you!
❤
Priest has great strength and energy and focus

Happy Easter Father and everyone here .. God bless ! ❤️ 🙏🏻
Thank you Father Mike for a wonderful Easter message. I love to think about heaven, and since I have a chronic illness with pain all the time, I look forward to being fully healthy in my body. I also love to think about being with Jesus there, and maybe even doing a particular job for him, that He has prepared me for in this life. If this is true Father Mike, then surely He has a special job for you in heaven too, that brings glory to you both! Happy Easter🌄
Amen..I believe

The soul has a gender, and takes its ID from the body. Fantastic talk Fr Mike - amazing. I've never really heard such a talk.

Fr. Mike, how do you do it? The Lord has certainly Graced you with many gifts! I have ADHD and usually take Adderall that I can attend to life better. “and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator.”

Fr Mike, thank you for explaining these things. I love that you don't just say things, but you back them up with facts. I found this message to be so clear and comforting, probably more that any other things I have ever heard before.
And even more! We are being sanctified and purified. We imitate the kenosis of Christ in order to someday be in theosis with the Triune Communion, a participation in the divinity and eternal beatitude of God.
Hello, Fr Mike, please keep a watchful eye out for trolls. I see there are some clever ones in the midst of it all but I would hate for a loved one to be steered in the wrong direction because of such cleverness. May God bless you, Fr Mike, in all of your endeavors for you are truly an inspiration to us all.
Fr. Mike please pray for me, I'm a 28 year old male with same sex attraction and I'm very very tired of carrying this cross. (I'm the person who did the spanish subtitles to your love and same sex attraction talk from 2016 at Steubenville.) Sometimes I feel very tempted to go to progressive churches and just live an open active gay life. I love the Catholic Church so much but I feel very discouraged by priests, bishops and cardinals in the Church wanting to change the teaching. Please pray for me Fr. Mike, I pray for you too.
I hear you loud and clear. We must be careful to block out the lies that surround us, sometimes hateful and sometimes well meaning. Proven sources such as Fr Mike and Courage will help you to carry your cross in faith.
Praying for you! God Bless❤️
Dear Carlos, Your love for the Church (the Eucharist!) is your anchor! God sees your struggles, is with you to give you strength, and will never abandon you!!! 💖🙏💖
The Saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is that he died for all our sins, was buried and rose again on the 3rd day, by which we are saved, 1 Corinthians 15 1-4.
It is not SSA which is sinful, it is homosexual acts which are. The Pope has ruled out changing the teaching, and he could not anyway as it is Biblical. He has called for TOLERANCE towards LGBT people. Toleration DOES NOT mean approval.
Amen. 🙏
Spent Thursday 6/4/2023 @ my grandmother's funeral, which means at least in the last few years plenty of family members, have passed over in Easter and Christmas 😢
Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia 🎶🙌🙏
Our Lord is risen indeed Alleluia 🎶🙌🙏
Amen 🙏🏼 ❤ Thank you Fr Mike
Thank you, Father Mike. I am encouraged at you speaking in comparisons that makes the mysteries that we accept by faith understandable to our human mind and hearts. Not sure I want to sip coffee in Vienna, though. Again, thank you for your Easter homily.
Thank you Father Mike! Happy Easter Everyone!!!!!
I’m Al my years I never heard such a thing. So Heavin is a place where I am still me with the same body and the same earth and the same sky and the same people? Drinking coffee in Vienna? Of all things I believe are possible and all the mystical experiences I have had , that is actually a stretch for me.
God Bless you!
This is a phenomenal homily!
Happy Easter🙏🙏🙏
Spain⛪
❤❤❤
Wow. Thank you for this substantive content!
happy easter father i love ur vestments!
Thank you for the clarity of the “clarity” : )
basically we're gonna have "superpower" in our new body
God Came To Earth In Another Form and Took On The Form Of The Servant ( Jehovah ) Philippines , The Only Reason God Came To Earth Was To Save Mankind 👍
Happy Easter Fr. Mike ❤
Glad you said this about gnosticism. When you go to grandma’s funeral and see her, you say “there’s grandma” not “there’s a corpse grandma inhabited”. Otherwise there’s no reason to take good care of bodies (“bury the dead” is an actual work of mercy!)
I don't think death is horrible - I'm looking forward to it.
Theology of the Body. Let's all learn about it. Happy Easter dear brother.
Thank you Jesus Christ in Virgin Mary amen. 😊😊😊❤❤Famíly José Severo Duarte, Isabel Martins, Elisângela Cristina Duarte, Elaine Cristina Duarte, Henrique José Duarte, Bruna Patrícia Silva Penharol Noah LIMA Duarte Obrigado Brazil Bady Bassitt ❤️ SP Thank you 😊❤❤❤
Gnosticism is so prevalent and yeah it’s a heresy. The Truth is Jesus Christ is True God and True Man.
Father Mike,
Thank you for this! Anyone who knows this must yearn for this to come!
Will we be able to enjoy or pets in heaven?
We can only speculate, but Peter Kreeft thinks so, and I think Pope Francis has made indications that he thinks so, too.
Part of the argument being that you'd expect the new Earth to have animals as did Eden.
why did He do it, the incarnation? to divinize our bodies in union with our minds and souls.
"What They Know About You"

Are you sure this isn't Father Ted Lasso? 😊. But seriously, a great message. Thanks Fr. Mike
Hi Fr. Mike. Regarding the belief that many Christians have about being free of the body when they die, actually it's what we've been taught to believe as fact in church while growing up. The priests always said that when one dies, they will be free of their body, and their soul will either go to heaven or hell. I only learned the truth about this some 6 or 7 months ago. It's not entirely the Christians fault to have such a belief. Just wanted to point that out. Happy Easter and God bless.🙏🙏
Has he got any tips for next Saturday's grand national ?
"FAKING IT AT FATIMA"

Fantastic Sermon Father Mike! Thank you for what you in service to the Church and faith. However I do wonder about this part of the message pertaining to the body, our bodies specifically. What about those people who are naturally not the most attractive and would love a different body? What about those trans who feel trapped in their body and believe they are another gender? What if those truly do their best to make peace with their given body and gender in this life but also wish or look forward to a different body or different gender in the next? Trans are but one example but know more than a few people who would love to be more attractive, fit, and would look forward to our bodies not being an issue in the afterlife, basically being more spirit than anything else.
Think what he said especially about integrity and clarity.
The resurrected body will be flawless and reflect God's glory
Hating your body is an earthly thought - there will be no thoughts like that when you are in Heaven! You will be perfect, and finally see yourself as God always saw you! ❤
@@michaelmicek I'm more inclined to agree with K B's comment above where we will be less concerned about our looks and more about the love, peace, and joy with God in the afterlife.
@@M00nflowers Some do probably hate their body which you are right is more an earthly thought but what about those who just wish to be more attractive like a 10 vs. a 7? Yes, ideally everyone should love their body but there is no denying what Michael talked about above, our resurrected body will be flawless but will still be a 7 vs. a 10. For example, I'm a fairly good looking guy....eat right, take care of myself, muscled and athletic and I'm happy and fairly content with my attractiveness but there's no denying I'm no Thor or Brad Pitt. Thus in my idea, if my resurrected body was flawless and perfect it still wouldn't be as great as a flawless and perfect Brad Pitt lvl 10's his resurrected body. See what I mean? As such, I'm much more forgiving of the idea our existence in the afterlife will be more spiritual than physical.
@@gotvegan4953 well, I don't disagree with you really.
But I actually think that Fr. Mike's description doesn't give the right impression; according to C. S. Lewis, if we saw a resurrected human being we would be tempted to fall down in worship (like it's described with angels).
Furthermore, it's common to picture martyrs as they were martyred; St. Matthew carrying his skin and whatnot, and we talk about the "crown" of martyrdom; what was willingly suffered here for Christ will be seen as the ultimate treasure in Heaven (so strive to enter the narrow gate, while being satisfied with being a little flower).
So I take a very expansive view of integrity and would emphasize clarity instead, but I don't want to disgust anyone, so I think that if someone wants to the use the metaphor that physically we'll all be "10s" in Heaven, that's fine.
Fr. Mike. Something that bothers me every Easter and I’ve never heard the explanation. Why were Jesus burial cloths laid out separately? Why was his head/face burial cloth on a different side of the tomb? Anyone? TY. 🙏
There was an answer I heard recently, possibly here, even.
Maybe more than one.
What comes to mind is that a master when getting up from the table would leave the napkin on his plate if he were finished, but if he planned to return he would fold the napkin and set it aside to signal that intention to his servant.
There are actually going to be for men on horses that come out of the sky?
What about cremation body after resurrection?
He mentioned that
I usually love these homilies, but this one is extremely depressing to me. I have a body, but I AM a soul. I look forward to shedding this mortal coil.
I believe that our bodies will be not only restored but also perfected. The Bible says there will be no tears, & I'm counting on that
St. Cyril in his work, “On the Unity of Christ” speaks of the unity of the deity and humanity in the Person of the Logos as a “Hypostatic Union”. To explain what he means by this term, St. Cyril explains that it is similar to how the soul and the body are united in human beings. Like us, Jesus Christ is one person. The divine and human natures are united in His Person, yet the two natures are inseparable (pg. 40).
St. Cyril taught that the Person of the Logos is “the sole personal subject” of all the conditions of His existence divine or human. He further stated that the Logos is the sole personal subject of all His own acts as Eternal Lord.
Additionally, he explains that after the Incarnation, the Logos is also “the one personal subject” directing all His actions in this time and space including the embodied acts which form the “human context” of the human life of Christ(pg.41).
Jesus is truly God and Truly man in the fullest sense. St. Cyril stresses that “neither the deity or the humanity of Christ was diminished by the Incarnation.” Rather both natures were “enhanced” by the intimate experience provided by the other.
St. Cyril illustrates what he means by this by saying that Jesus’ touch could heal others because His humanity was suffused with the divine light and graciousness thus making His human flesh divine. While it still remained essentially human flesh it is uniquely powerful and life giving because it is the human flesh of God (pg. 42).
I don’t know what to believe.
But doesn't the body become corrupted after death on the fourth day; ashes to ashes dust to dust? St Francis of Assisi called his body his donkey even though he bore the stigmata. Yes, Jesus not only saves us but even more so to share His divinity with us.
Is it necessary to dogmatize everything St. Francis said. Can we not accept that our saints still had flaws in reasoning that would have to purged in the process of our sanctification, including the state of purgatory?
Near the end of his life St. Francis regretted how he treated his body and began to see it as a gift from God.
Father Mike I’m so confused . You really lost me on this one.?
the destiny of the body doesn't trouble me at all. The end of a consciousness is what frightens me. It's very illogical to think that my feelings and thoughts would exist without the physical brain. The whole church doctrine is fine but eschatology.
Go to RUclips and watch at least thirty or forty near-death experiences from different RUclips channels. Most of these people will be telling the truth do not go to a religious specific channel. Our bodies are not us. We are spirits who all are a part of God, the Divine spirit, the Divine father., the Light. God bless you father. I know you want to spread God's word, but I think this really hurts people to say that they are their body they are not their body we are spirits.
God doesn't have to use a body to save God could save without a body because he's God
Father Mike , in no relevance to that of Holy week , i think you're weekly masses have been losing solemnity.
Despite you're humour and joy being the main reasons i choose your interpretation.
Just to be correct. Jesus body turn to dust, upon his death. His soul rose to his kingdom, where he awaits for us. When we die, our body will turn to dust, and our soul will rise to Jesus, In his kingdom.
“You’re a heretic mom” 😂😂
This feels way wrong ???
