With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to RUclips... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears. The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But because his fans had waited in the rain to hear him perform, instead of cancelling or postponing, he just frigg'in did 6 songs of his performance in the pouring rain. Actually I think Eric Carmen's original recording, which was intended as an homage to the power of Rachmaninov's composition, probably deserves a mention in any discussion of the best version of this song ;@)

For those who love Dimash, another must see singer is Zhou Shen from China. Because of his small stature, feminine disposition and voice, he was often bullied in school. Never thinking that he had what it takes to be a singer, he went to the Ukraine to become a dentist. While there, he was convinced that he did have a great singing ability, thus transferred his major to music. Thank goodness he did. As an introduction into Zhou "Charlie" Shen, begin with his premiere performance on the Voice of China singing HuanYan. After this first video, move on to his versions of "Memory", and "Time to Say Goodbye". For something different from him, watch his version of "Ring the Doorbell", "Let It Go" and "Monsters". Last, but definitely not least (there is so much more from him), enjoy the videos, "This is Me" and a very unique and fun song (one of my favs) "Da La Beng Ba". His biggest success is the song "Big Fish". While Dimash is the best singer in the world, Zhou Shen replicates many of Dimash's qualities and even surpasses Dimash in some skills, such as number of languages and diversity of genres. While I will always love listening to Dimash, it is amazing to see the exposure that other marvelous singers, such as Zhou Shen, Marcelito Pomoy, Sohyang, and Morissette Amon are getting on the world stage.

Celine Dion's version was simply a cover version, just like Dimash's and just like everyone else who ever covered it. Just so you are clear this is not a Celine Dion song. Yes she covered it but this is an Eric Carmen song. He wrote it he recorded it and took it to number one in the 1970s. You would have every right to be upset that someone else is being given credit for his song. I just feel it's important to give credit where credit is due.

I don't blame her for thinking it was Celine's song. She is young. I remember being surprised when I found that many of the songs I grew up with were covers and the original songwriters composed them before I was born.

We weren't criticizing her but were just educating her (and anyone else who doesn't know this song is an Eric Carmen masterpiece created 22 years before Celine Dion got around to covering it). As someone who has been involved in the music industry for most of my life I know how important it is to the people whose blood, sweat and tears go into writing and singing a song that becomes an all time standard that the right person be acknowledged.

Music from "All By Myself" is from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2, Eric carmen wrote lyrics for the song, he was a classical pianist and played the piano during the song, the music was very close to Rachmaninoff's, it was actually better version; due to Carmen's skill on the piano. Celine did a cover 22 years later, Dimash 4 years ago, and DIMASH "killed" it. Carmen also wrote and performed "Hungry Eyes" in Patrick Swayze movie "Dirty Dancing".
