You deserve it you put a lot of effort in and YT can be challenging as you compare to channels that seem to fly at a drop of a hat …. Taken us 6 years to this point 🙉🙉🙉
Thanks for the shout out. Got the weather app you use. Much better than the Met Office app we have used for years. Nowt better than hunkering down with a curry and treats on a stormy night. Have ro admit we do go in to idiot mode in high winds and try to get as exposed and high as possible. Amble doesn't half rock in high winds. I think it must be something in our genes as it reminds us of being on a ship. Both Dads were in the Royal Navy.
Hi Stew and Jane. That was scary!. By some strange coincidence we watched this vlog in our MoHo during a stormy night in Strandhill, Sligo last night. The wind was only gusting to 70kph but it certainly added some realism to he viewing experience. 😳
Had nothing like a all surround natural system giving you some ambience as you watched ….. secretly we love a storm and being close to the elements Thanks for watching - enjoy your trip
Hello guys, Porridge - make using a flat wooden spatchelor in a non stick/Teflon type saucepan, when made scrape the bottom and sides of saucepan thoroughly with the spatchelor ( you get more porridge into the bargain)then soak the saucepan in hot or cold water while eating the porridge. Simples.
Congratulations on your move before the storm hit you and rocked you all night!!! Having seen the damage down by the sea is proof of how wise you were to having moved...
Great vlog. I'm glad you survived. It's roasting here in Scotland😂. A quick tip..... to avoid dirty pans, we cook everything in the pan in slow cooker bags, then skim them, they don't even need washing after cooking 😊
The gulls are foraging…looking for fish (and god knows what else) unable to school and brought up to the surface in the strong churning wave action. I read that they also take advantage of the wind energy from waves to travel, and attract mates more effectively. I think they were having fun too!
Well done for braving the storm! Thank you for sharing your Ireland 'Winter' trip. Like you Stew, I have a rotation of RUclipsrs I watch every week, with Getaway Geese being one!
We secretly enjoy a storm despite the lack of sleep - your as close as you can get to it in a van - we did get caught out again in a few episodes Thanks for watching
Hate the wind. Its so destructive! Have you thought about buying the pots of porridge. Just add water. The pots are recyclable. (The Morrisons ones are anyway!) No scraping off your pots then. Must have a look for Kitchen Kievs!!!!! 😉 Thanks for sharing! Ju 😁
Yep a few have mentioned that need to look into that as like my porridge on a winter trip for sure do that sounds easier although a bit bulky to store in a small van 😂😂 Thanks for watching and commenting
😅Ahh we were in the Cairngorms with another you tube couple when this hit! 100mph winds, it was scarey, but luckily we were more sheltered than you were. 😊 It helped having our friends with us. We also spent the night on the phone checking the weather 😂 Glad you managed to survive too! Storm Jocelyn a few days later was nasty too. Thanks both, Em, G & Charlie 🐶💜
Yeah we saw your episode the other week … it was the gusting and in fact we were more exposed a few episodes later so it was definitely hitting the north of Ireland Good to be with others it’s a bit more re assuring Thanks for watching - stay safe
@@getawaygeese It really does make a difference, really felt for you there. Wind sounds so frightening in the van 🚐 Ahh I see, that was probably Storm Jocelyn I bet, tbh I found her to be a lot more viscious than Isha! Perhaps the wind direction, I dunno. Still, it’s good to look back on, there’ll always be those conversations, do you remember in Ireland that time & you had to hold the skylight shut ☺️ 😂 We must be mad eh, but love winter van life 😎 (I hope I don’t live to regret saying that) 😂 Em
Hi only home from a weekend in Ballycastle weather was great, if you had off went into Ballycastle town you would have found a large car park very well sheltered you have to drive down into it, even better toilets and hot water
Thanks for the tips! Next time I will know where to hide although I must admit I’m a storm bring in a town more likely to be hit from flying debris maybe - who knows lol
Oh golly goodness!!!!! 😳😳😳😳what a scary experience- Thank heavens your skylight stayed put -well done Stew on your preventative preparations ! I bet you were quite exhausted the next day 🦋
Thanks for another great video Jane and Stew. Love Ballycastle, I recall vividly planning my sailing voyage while sailing round the U.K. from Islay (whisky island) to Ballycastle, it’s a tricky little passage due to the strong tides through the north channel and Rathlin Island in the way. I remember a stunning sunset in Ballycastle. Your video also reminded me of staying in a little hire campervan at the base of Mt Cook in New Zealand and thinking the van was going to be blown over one night in a mountain storm! Definitely a night to be in harbour look out to sea rather than out at sea wishing you were in harbour! All the best.
Great video, loved the storm, we have had nights like that but it adds to the experience dont you think. We have been to Ballycastle, lovely place. Stew you need to stop stressing so much.😂
It looked totally terrifying overnight. Thankfully I’m a really good sleeper so when we’ve had storms, earthquakes etc at home and in our van I’ve managed to sleep through them. Take care Gill
We like walking on beaches too, especially in the winter with hardly a soul there. Gotta have a hot choccy when the weather's wet and cold. Love the spray off the waves, it looked amazing. I was just going to ask you about the German flag. That's very sad. It is scary in the wind, I hate it, although I'm less scared in the campervan than in Raymond. You have the skylight I had in my campervan but I got rid as they dont seem very secure. Ha ha ha, Jane did make laugh, giving me visions of you being sucked out the skylight gap in the wind.😂😂😂 Can I ask what app you were using for the wind?

Was the narrowest part of Harry facing the wind.? As in your front. The wind would sheer off the windscreen and you would get less buffeting. Residual heat in a pan continues the cooking and thickens oats so maybe cook it to almost completion, leave for a minute or two then use a spatula to serve. Would that help clean the pot?
At times we faced the wind although it changed directions through the night a few times We getting better with residual heat but but not a habit yet so a good reminder Thanks for watching
