I had no idea that laser cutting could be used on cardboard! This is a game-changer for me, as an inexpensive way to make custom-size organizer trays and dividers for my bazillions of craft tools and supplies, not to mention all the other things around the house! These are situations where cardboard is plenty sturdy, and wood would be overkill. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the feedback. I also use cardboard quite a lot - especially as it is always available, lightweight and can be stacked to thicker structures.
25ma????!!!! Yikes, that's way over the rating of the tube, even for a 60 or 80 watt tube. Are you sure you didn't mean 25% on the digital panel or something? You might give people information wrong enough to kill their tube.
I really want to thank you for your video's. I'm just about ready to get my first 40k laser and it was so intimidating. Your videos make it seem so much less so. Wish I'd found you before I got my 3d printers. :) Thanks again for all you do, I for one appreciate it.
Julie Coffey Thanks a lot. I‘m trying to document my learnings along the way. Glad that it’s useful for you. Also to be frank: the k40 out of the factory is dangerous; so feeling intimidated is the right feeling. 😏 So after getting one fixing the basics (like grounding the case, installing a safety switch, etc.) is essential from my point of view.

Technically you do not glue acrylic but use a chemical that melts the acrylic so that it bonds to itself. That's the type of glue I used: amzn.to/3LjHz5M
Thanks for the video. What type glue do you use to glue acrylic pieces for smaller projects? If you know the brand - would be super helpful. Thank you!
I have and ORTUR laser engraver but i have failed to use inkscape, when i send a job to the machine, it keeps on bringing an error message that the machine is busy, how can i go about it?
Karen Smith It’s the python box configurator - a really flexible online tool. In the description is a link to the website article linking to all the resources.
Whats the thickness of material this laser can cut through? I currently own Atomic laser by two dragons. But it's damn large and I'm looking for something smaller.
How did you cut this ? I have neje master 2 20w, which program have you used ? I mean to cut all round from outside , its that a Gcode file ? How did you make it ? Thanks
The Neje laser can only engrave or cut very thin material. The machine I am using is a K40 laser, as described here: ruclips.net/video/G5vTZGL-UBA/видео.html
Just for the first project, don not ever cut PVC with your laser ! It will produce mustard gas that will not only damage the electronics of your machine, but also your health ! When i first got my co2 laser i wanted to put anything on, from my phone cover to engrave Godzilla on ;) to heat transfer vinyl... But quickly i saw that all these are PVC, even the PU heat transfer vinyl (HTV) as the cover layer, the one that you peel off, it's PVC... so take care and look out for non PVC alternatives ( there are )
thegreatsalabim I don‘t know. Cutting 5mm acrylic is no problem at all. I tried to cut thicker wood which is difficult- even with several passes. As 5mm is possible 10mm might work with some creativity (eg flipping the piece and cutting from both sides) or by cutting 2 5mm pieces and gluing them together.
Figments Made Thank you. The good thing about a Chinese laser is that it’s a tool that fairly quickly pays for itself - if you want to go in that direction. With all the upgrades (air assist, bed, etc.) mine was around 400 bucks. If you look at the price for Christmas ornaments, engraved cutting boards, etc. on a craft fair it should be possible to earn this money within 1-2 craft shows.
GiantWillaim For 3mm you sometimes need 2 (slow) passes. If you would like to cut 6mm you would most likely have to jig something up so that you can cut from both sides.

25ma on a K40? The little power supply (the blue turd in them and 50w machines) can't do 25ma. My expensive power supply does a max of 24ma for a 60w tube and you have a 30w in that K40 so 25ma isn't happening and if it is bye bye tube life when the max on a real K40 (30w tube) should be 14.5ma or at most 16ma for a very short period of time. 18ma on a 40w tube, 20ma on a 50w tube and 22ma on a 60w tube is what is suggested by all laser companies and legit tube manufacturers.

Used a Boss 1420 to convert some graphics and laser cut it out on construction paper. Worked great thanks for ideas...especially stencils.

Plywood up to 4-5mm, acrylic 5mm without any problems - I did not tried thicker acrylic material.

hi nice informative video , but what i would like to know can i use it to cut foam for my tools 16inch by 10.5 inch x 1.25 inch thick?
The bedside is around 8 x 12 inch. Foam cuts nicely if it’s the right material but I don’t know if you get a. Lean cut on 1.25 inch...
Deepnest ??? Waahhhh - never heard of... great channel : Subscribed !
Me too and me too.
Did you cut the plywood with the K40 laser?
Thank you!
Cutting 4mm plywood is no problem.
This video is a good overview of material the K40 can cut: China K40 laser review and test ruclips.net/video/d5KoCNpf3t0/видео.html
At 2:54, power= 25 mA? Isn't that too much for the original laser tube?
Correct. One should limit it to 12,5 mA

Yup. Cutting anything that sets chlorine gas free is a bad idea. Some pseudo-acrylics from the home center are dangerous as well.
Awesome work ! 😊👌
Thanks!
