Note: I didn't include RMCs because those are basically new rides entirely, while the ones on this list are more close to the originals. They also deserve their own video.
Definetly an understandable reason, although I'd say Phantom is way too different with that logic, if Phantom qualifies, I'd say at least New Texas Giant or Iron Rattler would qualify too, both follow the original layout pretty faithfully, excluding the boring helixes and the inversion on Rattler.
Yeah if you include phantoms revenge and powder keg you probably need to include rmc refurbishments For all intents and purposes those two coasters only reused the stations and left hills
Glad "The Beast" made the list. So many amazing memories riding that thing at night. Prior to the retrack that double helix literally was painful. Road it post retrack and it is back to being a comfortable ride.
As Kennywood is my home park, I got the privilege, or not privilege of riding the Phantom with the inversions. So glad it was changed and I absolutely must ride Phantoms Revenge every time I’m at the park. It’s my fave!!
I rode phantom the first week it was open and it was said to be going 95 mph through the vertical loop… It definitely hurt very very bad. I loved the inversions but they were so compact and close to each other that that’s what did it in.
Does anyone remember when they told you that you should take out any ear piercings? I remember as a teenager that we were told to take out our earrings. It was terrible for me as I had 5 earrings in each ear at the time. Lol! After riding it, I understood. Your head would slam against the harness so hard I’m sure any stud earrings would stab your neck. Lol! I always left that ride with a major headache.
I was born after the change to Phantom's Revenge and I can say that the coaster's smoothness can't be overstated. Such a fun ride, and it's definitely worth the trip. That and the Jackrabbit. Amazing how well that one has held up for an over century old wooden ride.
I remember riding the original steel phantom, it was rough but I still loved it. I remember the staff making people remove their earrings before each ride due to the head banging being so bad that earrings could cause lacerations during the ride. The new Phantoms Revenge is definitely an amazing improvement, but I'm so happy they didn't modify the second drop. I've ridden coasters all over the world, and the second drop of phantoms revenge is still one of the best! If you are lucky, the Thunderbolt will pass over just as you go under its track.
Boardwalk Bullet went from being insanely rough to being my #1 Wooden Coaster after it’s re-tracking a couple of years ago. The airtime in the front row is some of the best I’ve ever felt and it’s never been known as an airtime coaster.
I rode The Big Apple Coaster nearly blind (I couldn't wear my glasses and I am legally blind) It was... something back in 2016, I can feel the headache just thinking about it. But with the new restraints I might have to head back
Theme Park Crazy, you are my absolute idol. You helped me get over my fear of roller coasters and I hope to be a roller coaster RUclipsr someday just like you!
Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia was literally the worst coaster I had ever ridden due to head-banging. I had gotten new ear piercings right before my first trip and was convinced my studs would be ripped from my ear. Glad to hear they addressed that because it. was. ROUGH.
That drop into the tunnel on Hades 360 IS absolutely epic. (I was lucky enough to ride in the very front on my first ride!) I don't remember it being especially rough - though I can definitely understand why some people were uncomfortable - but it's *definitely* smoother than Cyclops! I thought my teeth were going to break on that coaster
I rode the Beast for the first time in Fall 2021, right before the retrack. My first coaster in 20 years, and it left me more shook than a car crash. I've literally been rear ended at 55 mph, and left less sore. By luck, I was able to get a ride on the new retracked when it first opened up on Mother's day. It was glass smooth on a non-wheel seat, even on the helix. Even on a wheel seat it only has about as rough as a newer GCI. Well, besides Mystic Timbers which is still smoother than most steel coasters through some sort of witchcraft.
As kennywood as my hometown park, I can vouch for it. I rode it as the steel phantom back in the early 00s when I was in middle school. A bit rough and the first drop slammed me straight to the left. The revamp is enjoyable but I do miss the loops and etc. It’s very smooth and a lot of air time.
I really hate, that such things have to be added at all, just because some guest feel more secure, even thought the trains shouldn't need them at all. This things just do nothing like the comfort collar, its just time consuming
For Python, i had personal experience ... this was a real WTF moment. The original was ... "like a organ sorting maschine" like my friend said. The retracking was like it was levitating on the rails. Its a difference between night and day. Its like magnet levitation. (as always: do not use for shout-out, thanks ^-^ )
My personal experience is at Vallejo Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, they had a large wooden roller coaster I don't remember the original name. They change it to a hybrid coaster, this made wooden coaster with all steel tracking. Renamed it the Joker, soon thereafter I took a ride on this updated coaster. Super smooth now with the hybrid steel track, a very enjoyable coaster. I think this is a great idea to preserve the structure, and add new up-to-date steel track. Soon thereafter this kind of hybrid conversion became popular in other theme parks. Enjoyed your video very much, I've been riding roller coasters for over 50 years now, a little harder to get in and out of the seat, but I still love the experience thank you.
And the worst thing about comfort collars is, that they really do nothing at all, they are just there. Even a seatbelt isn't needed for this trains. Allready heared some say, they would go on a Sky Rocket coaster when it had these, but in the these are still just stupid and time consuming.
Im going to add a personal honorable mention here: Predator at Six Flag Darien Lake. Wow. I never knew a bad coaster could go good after just 2 years. when i rode predator in 2021, it was a very rough coaster, so much when i was working as a ride attendant on the ride for the ride, i basically volunteered to but my body on the line to open it. however, i found a good seat that made the ride bearable. in 2022, the ride was still not great, but the steel tracking on the big spiral made the ride a lot more enjoyable. and as of 2023 with the steel track on the turn back after the 1st drop and airtime hill, the coaster has become one of my all time favorites! its still rough in same places, mainly the 1st turn is super rough, but bearable because of the lack of high speeds, but it got rougher near the near the end of the year, probably due to weathering of the track. Can't wait to see what they get up to next year! (Also, in 2021-22, the coaster was listed 6th on my list of coasters at darien lake, but now takes the top spot, just barely surpassing ROS due to ROS getting to rough for a steel coaster. Start your flame wars in the reply's below, I'll go pop some popcorn with extra butter and salt)
Didn't think #1 would be nearly that high, but happy it is. Still love that one more than most of my credits, but it's also my home park, so maybe I'm biased a bit.
Hey, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. They are very down-to-earth and rational, and as we know sometimes people in this community are………interesting. I think your a great RUclipsr and my mums a fan too. Also, do you think you could make a video showcasing some of Australia’s best roller coasters? Keep up the good work:)
Manhattan Express was so rough when it was new when I rode it. I came off it with body aches and a headache 😩. I want to ride the improved version now.
During my marching band trip I rode icebreaker for the first time a week before the got rid of the comfort collars, I live so far away so I gotta wait so long. I also didnt get to ride velocicoaster when I was down there...
I've actually ridden the Nor Easter before the re-tracking and I've got to say it was the roughest coaster I've ever ridden, even beats the old Wildcat at Hershey park
It wasn't mentioned on this list, but my home park Six Flags Fiesta Texas received a ride glow-up in my opinion. The Rattler RMC'd to The Iron Rattler!!
I remember when Ninja first arrived and it was a nightmare on your head especially with earrings in. It was on the ride last list before getting a funnel cake and lemon chill.
I used to go to Kennywood yearly, so I knew Phantom's Revenge was going to be number one when it came to this. It's one of my dad's all-time favorite coasters.
After Mr. Morrone ruined my CCC experience on my cousin Lilly's 11th birthday, I did a glow up trip as part of a CCC Rematch Program event. I was able to film two elevators, buy an Ocean's 8 DVD in exchange for Disc Replay and get some food items that I weren't able to do so because of Mr. Morrone's healthy choice policy.
Hades 360° & Blue hawk are AWESOME. I've ridden both and I think they are amazing rides. Hades 360° is my favorite wooden roller coaster. It's in my top 10. Edit: I've also been to SDC KI & KENNYWOOD The Beast is extremely smooth Phantoms Revenge is Awesome and really smooth Powderkeg is my favorite launch roller coaster.
I personally loved the ninja at SFOG. It’s reputation also ensured little to no line, so that was always nice. The revamp isn’t bad, I’ve been on Blue Hawk once and didn’t notice much of a difference, it’s still one of the roughest rides in the park.
I remember riding Ghost Rider at Knotts Berry Farm before it's improvement. It was a pretty rough ride and the trains were pretty uncomfortable, but that's all I remember riding this. I really want to ride it again now it's improved.
I had the privilege of riding the New York New York coaster in Las Vegas this year and it wasn’t that bad besides a little bit of head-banging from side to side on the restraints but still an amazing ride! I love all your videos and have been a long time viewer, keep up the fantastic work!
13:58 “Also, park owner, Jack Morey, dressed up as a grandmother, sporting Coral Blue No. 2 Semi-gloss lipstick.” Actually, it was Coral Blue Number-(SpongeBob gets hit with a fishing pole)
Atlanta native here. I rode Ninja back in the day and even knowing about the problems with head banging and trying my best to mitigate it I went away with a massive headache (and worried about getting cauliflower ears). It really was a rough one (though not as bad as the Z-Force was -- good riddance to that ride).
I got to ride Buzzsaw Falls as a kid. It was really fun, but the wait was horrendous. The ride must’ve shut down at least three times. I’m going back to SDC this year for the farewell of Fire In The Hole, can’t wait to check out Powder Keg!
I rode the big apple coaster last year as my first roller coaster to go over the two hundred foot mark. I thought it was great as I did not experience any head banging. The only thing that sucks about this ride is the price of 24 dollars per ride. Or 12 if you are a guest at the hotel.
Hey Theme Park Crazy. Have you ever done any videos of both Bolliger and Mabillard Hyper and Giga Roller Coasters? At Kings Island they took down the Firehawk and they built Orion! I (as a roller coaster enthusiast) I took my first 2 rides on Orion (day and night)! Orion is a new 2020 B&M Giga roller coaster and Diamondback is a 2009 B&M hyper roller coaster with a splash down element!
Wasn't a version of 5 also in Cedar Point from early 70s to mid 80s? I forget what it was called but it seemed like it was both track and float as this was.
As a dutch person that rode python in all versions Yes the newest version is the best but it never hurt in any configuration. The reason the kumbac trains where removed so fast becouse they needed a lot of maintenance
I love the New York New York coaster, I love NY NY in general as a casino and hotel. Last time i rode it it was in 2014, but I only remember how much fun i had
I think you're right that the original Ghostrider just had a lot of minor flaws from the beginning. I remember riding it in the mid 2000's and even by then it was so harsh it felt like the coaster was literally beating you up on the turns.🤕
I know it’s the same thing but for me Nemesis has had one of the best glow ups I’ve ever seen, the theming, colour scheme, the marketing. All truly amazing (just isn’t as good as these tho)
Love that six flags over Georgia got on there!! Two things lol. First if you ever do another video like this, the scream machine at sf Georgia needs a mention. They just redid the tracks for the 50th anniversary this season and oml it is crazy smooth. Me and my father had a "one season rule" where we would ride it once a season because of the roughness. But now the rule is probably gonna be thrown out. Also Georgia cyclone to twisted cyclone. Ig Georgia has just had good luck with redone coasters lol. Second, I can confirm blue hawk is sooo much better. In like 2014 I think I was just getting tall enough to ride coasters, so we were going thru the park doing Goliath, superman (it worked that day😮 lol) but we got to ninga and I did it and was completely traumatized. When most adult's restraints would be on their shoulders, I was like 8 and they were on my ears. It hurt. When they redid it I was very hesitant to ride, but now it's one of my fav (of who am I kidding like all of them but 3 are my fav) I guess you can say that "fresh blue paint" really helped (when it got redone, a new boarding sound was made saying what was redone and it goes "fresssh blueee paint", it's prob on yt somewhere. Funny thing now is that you can see the red ninga paint showing thru the blue) I absolutely love your channel and videos btw thanks for what you do!!
I had friends ride the Ninja back in GA, and it messed with them quite a bit! One of them had braces at the time, and he claimed his teeth were hurting after riding!
It's hard to say that this coaster (Phantom's Revenge) change to what it was compared to today. It had inversions when it first opened in 1991 at 17:23 as Steel Phantom, then they changed it with D.H. Morgan years later to make the ride more smooth at 18:25. It was also changed to a new name "Phantom's Revenge" (btw, they also changed the color to the track with green to black. And purple to green as the years go on). As a coaster enthusiast that has never been to Kennywood, I would like to say that this coaster improved during these changes as the years go on! I hope they do this with their old rough coasters in the future! Btw. I hope this will be featured in your comments shout out videos!
Blue Hawk is rough on certain parts which will whip your head pretty hard. But overall, the experience is much more enjoyable. When it was called Ninja I refused to ride it. It would only ruin your day and give you a massive headache.
I live in Ohio & kings island in Mason Ohio is my husband & I's favorite vacation spot. From 2012-2016 we visited the park on average 4-6xs per year only taking a break after 2016 due to starting a family. We have plans to visit the park this summer & I can't wait. The beast is an amazing ride but in 2015 & 2016 it was so rough that I had to make it the last ride of the night due to it leaving me with a headache. I'm glad to see repairs have been done so I can hopefully enjoy the ride once again.
Just looking at an SLC gives me a headache. However I've ridden Blue streak with the updated vest restraint and WOW talk about a HUGE difference in ride quality. I wish more parks specifically the ones that fly multiple flags would invest the money to update their boomerangs and SLCs with at minimum the new Vest Systems. It would make the ride experience alot more bearable
Cedar fair should really get new trains for corkscrew and make it so kids at 36 inches can ride. It would make a great first inveting coaster and it would get far more riders.
Note: I didn't include RMCs because those are basically new rides entirely, while the ones on this list are more close to the originals. They also deserve their own video.
ye I get that!
i see you did a good spongebob reference to clams, in which mr krabs points out that the giant clam has the same lipstick
Yeah if you include phantoms revenge and powder keg you probably need to include rmc refurbishments

Glad "The Beast" made the list. So many amazing memories riding that thing at night. Prior to the retrack that double helix literally was painful. Road it post retrack and it is back to being a comfortable ride.
Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah received an amazing re-tracking that really improved the ride.
As Kennywood is my home park, I got the privilege, or not privilege of riding the Phantom with the inversions. So glad it was changed and I absolutely must ride Phantoms Revenge every time I’m at the park. It’s my fave!!

Love Great Nor Easter it is smoother than most B&M coaster at least what I think such a fantastic ride
Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia was literally the worst coaster I had ever ridden due to head-banging. I had gotten new ear piercings right before my first trip and was convinced my studs would be ripped from my ear. Glad to hear they addressed that because it. was. ROUGH.
Powder keg was my first Rollercoaster I ever went on, it's super fun
This video makes me really excited for The Wildcat's reopening at Hershey
Phantoms Revenge became a true hyper coaster with the refresh honestly. It was brilliant.
It’s funny how Ghost Rider went from the worst coaster I’ve ever ridden to my absolute favorite after the retrack
oh my gosh, i'm so glad Beast got a retrack. I cant wait to ride the revamped monster!
That drop into the tunnel on Hades 360 IS absolutely epic. (I was lucky enough to ride in the very front on my first ride!) Glad you enjoy it! And thank you so much for watching!
@@ThemeParkCrazy I’ve been watching for years, and I’m still hooked! Some of the best on social media!
Too smooth? A rollercoaster is too smooth? That isn't even a thing.
For Python, i had personal experience ... this was a real WTF moment.

The retracking was like it was levitating on the rails. Its a difference between night and day. Its like magnet levitation.
(as always: do not use for shout-out, thanks ^-^ )
Since you didn’t list any RMC’s in this video, your next video could be on the best RMC glow-ups that replaced wooden coasters
I think a video analyzing RMC’s recreations would be interesting. Great Video!

Wasn't a version of 5 also in Cedar Point from early 70s to mid 80s? I forget what it was called but it seemed like it was both track and float as this was.
As a dutch person that rode python in all versions
Yes the newest version is the best but it never hurt in any configuration.
Very nice.
Funny thing now is that you can see the red ninga paint showing thru the blue)
I absolutely love your channel and videos btw thanks for what you do!!
I had friends ride the Ninja back in GA, and it messed with them quite a bit! One of them had braces at the time, and he claimed his teeth were hurting after riding!
If you survived rolling thunder at great Adventure….. you can survive anything
Great video keep it up!
Desperado at Buffalo Bill's should be added to this list. It needs new smoother track.
6:20 who would think rides needed anti roll-forward brakes for such a situation? 😮
I'm not sure.
you missed the best transformation ever which was cedar points Meanstreak into Steel Vengeance(arguably the best roller coaster in the world)
the second roller coaster i ever road was ninja in six flags st louis. it was torture. i swore i was gonna have a concussion
6:23
That is horrifying. I wouldn't want the ride to continue but what can you do but pull the restraint closed?? 😬😬
I love phantomsrevenge
Ahh, I would love to see Loch Ness get upgraded trains…those horseshoe collar restraints are still the worst
Actually, Python’s retrack was in 2018.
What I meant was that the decision of the retrack was made. The announcement of it was in 2017, which is why I said it was decided to retrack it.
local to Kennywood Park rode both i still prefer steel phantom.
Let’s hope Nemesis makes the list in 2024
Cedar fair should really get new trains for corkscrew and make it so kids at 36 inches can ride. It would make a great first inveting coaster and it would get far more riders.
I think gwazi-iron gwazi is one of the best rollercoaster glowup
And other RMC coasters too.
You should've probably mentioned the crystal beach cyclone and how it turd into th comet at great escape. Otherwise great video
