@@ferretfriend5458 I'm not 100. I still have a few decades to go before I get there. _IF I get there..._ I have been around the block a few times though and have seen some pretty cool stuff. You ever see a Stereopticon?
@@ferretfriend5458 No I'm 30. I got 16 out of 20. My family has handed down tools like these from one generation to another. Not only are these tools very useful today (except the lipstick one) but they were made to last.
The nostalgia of these things is wonderful. I used to have the vintage mechanical calculator. My dad gave it to me as a gift along with a vintage type writer.
The lipstick thing is a sharp mask that you'd use to tuck your lips into the shape you want, you could use the pressure from it to temporarily mark your skin to make sure it was the shape you wanted then fit your lip back under it and use it to keep from getting lipstick where you didn't want it... very handy for people with shaking hands or traveling in carriages/trains because it greatly reduces accidents. It was *never* to apply lipstick since lipstick is prehistoric and so are crayons. You can't pit a cherry, you can de-stone them but pitting is a different process in which you shove something through to remove the stone like how olives have a circle and a little x on the other side. Pitting intentionally removes the stem and some of the flesh as well. It literally leaves a pit in the fruit. A stoner is designed to save as much flesh as possible and will grind the edible/useable fruit pulp off the stone as well.
❤. 20 out of 20 I guess because I'm old. You need to come here and look at our antique tools and collectibles. Some were made in the 1800s. Have a good day.
I was sufficiently correct to think that I am a super fossil geek, which I knew anyway 😂 And yes the lipstick 💄 thing was ‘new’ That’s fun stuff, thank you and cheers!
I remember #3... they were super cool to the then 5-yr old me. Lots of fun to look through and see your toe (bones) wiggling. Then the machines just weren't around anymore. Fun quiz even if I only got 14 or 15 right. 😅
16/20 ... sadly was fooled by a couple of the "modern" items (eg atari!), while I knew most of the antiques, having worked in a museum for my summer holiday jobs! The lip-stick applicator floored me!
So the lipstick applicator; I can't be the only one who has no idea so I looked it up. Yeah. It isn't easier. To use a vintage Hollywood Glamour Lips lipstick applicator, you would: Cover the applicator's flat surface with lipstick Smooth out the lipstick with your finger or the applicator Wipe off any excess lipstick from the top edge Line up the top ends of the applicator with the corners of your mouth by moving the bottom handle from your chin Press the applicator onto your lips Rub your lips together to distribute the lipstick evenly The applicator is shaped like a pair of lips and is meant to give your lips a more defined outline. The applicator is similar to a lipstick stencil and can give the classic "smear" look that Joan Crawford made famous. Before applying lipstick, the instructions recommended that you dry and powder your lips
all but one the lipstick applicator in my 75 years of life i have had the pleasure of holding or using each of them brings lot of joyous memories of childhood
78 years old, Got 17. Missed the sisemoscope, (sp?), Penny farthing, ( weird name, for a type of bicycle!), and the coconut grader. Never saw the 1st or 3rd things before but should have guessed better! 😊
Missed seismograph and lipstick applicator. Many of the others I’ve used. Toaster, bed warmer, Atari, cassette tapes. Others I’ve seen used like bootscrape, washboard, cherry pitter. Fun to see them again.
Never used a cherry pitter, or indeed some of the other items either, but I did have an Atari. Cassettes, I used to stay up to all hours of the night to make my mix tapes, because that's when they played the "good stuff", versus just the top 40 on repeat. I used to sit on the school bus with my walkman and tune everyone out listening to those mixtapes. Memories.
19 was called a computer when it first came out, not a calculator. That is what our maths teacher was excited about in 68 when we got something very similar. 😂
80 yrs old - never saw lipstick applicator!!!!! Or heard of one!
I didn't understand that thing at alll!!!
Me either
A lipstick applicator? Please… 18/20
I’m 77. I saw one
I'm 84 and i hadn't either/.
thank you for presenting this in an easy to follow format - very nice !!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you assume we are capable of reading the questions and answers ourselves!
Lol 😂 you would have to be at the very least 100 to have seen these objects.

19/20 Missed the Lipstick applicator - never heard of it!
That was a tough one
I thought it was a eye lash curler 😮
Same here. Never saw such a thing, and I'm 76 years old! I got all the rest correct, however.
Ya, I missed the lipstick one too but got the rest
Got two wrong 7
17 out of 20, many thanks for the quiz.
16 out of 20. Great quiz. Thank you.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! ❤
got 16 but never heard of a lipstick applicator.
@@raybenstead2548same here
Me too!
Missed 3-4 did pretty good for me. Thank you for this video
I might take issue with #14. A Ewer is a wide mouth vessel like a water jug. A decanter is a narrow mouth vessel for servings drinks like wine.
I also thought it was a decanter.
Excellent quiz
That was really interesting!! Thank you!! 18/20
Same here Sami.. I'm not 60 yet but it would be a lot less if they weren't multiple choice
Am 78 and some of these items l have never seen or heard of...but was fun so thanks!!!
I missed a few, some I never heard of😵💫
Only got 14 right but geez, thought I was old, these are from the post Neanderthal period! Lol
Yup not really relevant unless you are 100 or maybe more..
Mmm you have to get to my age to know what they are but never heard of a lipstick applicator and I’m 74
@@ferretfriend5458wait a minute . Im 65 and missed 4😂
@@conniebaughman9894 sorry 😔
That was fun and interesting. Thanks 12
I’m 71, missed 4. We actually still used a lot of these items in the 1950’s in rural Pennsylvania.
❤❤❤❤that was fun.
GOT some right and some wrong
1 out of 20. . Not bad, I missed the bread board, certainly thought it was a charger. Thanks for the game!
14 correct
The nostalgia of these things is wonderful. I used to have the vintage mechanical calculator. My dad gave it to me as a gift along with a vintage type writer.
Missed 5 but heck, ive never seen or heard of at least...5!

I would love to. I love the stories that items like this tell.
My grandparents had a glass case with antiques from their childhoods and grandparents’.
Impossible. Question 9 options are A. Commodore B. Atari. C. brown box. Answer A. Atari.
That was great, music bit loud. Thanks so much 🥰💐
17 Out Of 20! But I'm 68yrs Old! 🤣🤣🤣 I've Used Mostly Everything There Before While Living On Both Sides Of My Families! 🤣🤣🤣
I am 88 yes old and I have never heard of a lot of these things. I did get 14 right though, but my word some of these things are ancient!!
You need older stuff to trip me up. got everyone right, even the two thousand year old seismoscope from China
19 out of 21 . I got the first one right but it didn’t count, it was a test pattern. 😁
Shows stuff from 150 years ago. Then adds Atari and cassette tapes. I feel SO old
18/20 some cool stuff.
Same here !!!!
I was sufficiently correct to think that I am a super fossil geek, which I knew anyway 😂 And yes the lipstick 💄 thing was ‘new’ That’s fun stuff, thank you and cheers!
Missed 2, good one 👍
Me either. Didn’t see in any western movies either. Hadn’t seen coconuts shredder either; must be a tropical question.
Only missed one, the lipstick applicator. However, I never wore lipstick... :)
I missed 5. That bread board and lipstick applicator really stumped me!!
That's fun 17 right some lucky guesses
I remember #3... they were super cool to the then 5-yr old me. Lots of fun to look through and see your toe (bones) wiggling. Then the machines just weren't around anymore.
Fun quiz even if I only got 14 or 15 right. 😅
The machines were using X-rays. They discontinued using them once we understood the harmful effects of X-rays.
I remember these at the shoe store, but I could never see my toes like I was supposed to.
17/20. Never heard of a lipstick applicator.
I got 17 right. The lipstick applicator and the cherry pitter must have been a European invention. But, it was fun!😊
Missed 3 a couple of them I guessed at. Never heard or seen a lipstick applicator, then again I’m in my 50’s. I think some are in a museum?
I can't say anything to that, other than I've closed down museums for how long I've been in them. My poor family. 😅
They came from the 40’s. I had to look up how to use one. More energy than it was worth in my opinion.
Missed two. Guessed wrong on the gaming console (shoulda known.) Also, #3. Never seen that before. Really good list overall.
Very cool.
As an ol' geezer, I had to stop and study.
Gotta a good score.
Peace on earth.
All 20..!!!
Easy
100%, I guess that proves that I am old but not yet senile.😊
I still have my grandmother's washboard in my garage. 😊
Ok.....im old! Feel older now! Missed 3 though, which helped a little. Hell,i had a couple of these items when young! Fun!
15 out of 20
me too
Great game thank you .
Missed 7….surprised myself. Never heard of some…in 70s
18/20. The trencher was what gave rise to the expression “a square meal”. Still in use on naval ships at the time of Admiral Nelson and later.
16/20 great quiz. I am 60, never heard of a lipstick applicator
Excellent.😅
U should keep score and this is even older than baby boomers (first boomers!) know- more like their grandparents . . . 😮

Thanks for that, I’d never heard of one. Guess I could’ve googled it but my mind never thought of that.
I'm 77, missed 4 - I have seen most when I was young, with grandpa's items..
Nobody who lived through "Skiffle" would forget a washboard.
WOW! I STUNK IT UP BADDDD!!!
18 out of 20 knew many- now I know more!
Missed two. That lipstick gadget looked like a scraper!
10 out of 10
73 and 11 months. Missed 1, the coconut shredder. Fun break.
I got them all, but some were educated guesses! I did know most of them, and have used several.
18 out of 20, the only reason I knew what a bed warmer was is an episode of Bewitched 😂😂. It chased her around Salem
Missed the lipstick applicator and the coconut scraper. Got the rest though!
Got them all

18 right. Lipstick applicator. I can't see how it would work.
when you see some peoples lipstick nowadays they must still be using one!

In answer to curtisthomas. It depends where you come from. In Scotland its called a washing board.
19 was called a computer when it first came out, not a calculator. That is what our maths teacher was excited about in 68 when we got something very similar. 😂
