I recently completed my playthrough restoring rome, only by the time I was done reconquering gaul, my character had an epiphany in a river on his pilgramage to the holy land to seek the light of Adamism (the religion where adherents must be naked). I immediately began demanding conversions of every vassal in the empire, down to every county holder. It took around a half hour of clicking, but it was worth it. Even if they still practiced their heresy in secret, each vassal had to display their whole bodies to me in court, and hiding a dagger became much more difficult for them. After crushing 3 gigantic orthodox populist rebellions over the next few decades, I had finally cemented my new religion, mended the great schism, and took my sister as a concubine to celebrate. Yes, I recommend this game.
@@delinard3401 You only have to do that a few to introduce new traits to your lineage. Once those are established, well ... Besides, if you marry said commoners to your unlanded children, it's only a prestige hit.

Nice to see you continuing to work with Paradox. You talked about playing the game already, and it makes sense that a livestream of this would not do that well. Less people, and most of those would try to get you to do things their way. Paradox games in 'lets play' format actually make more sense, so neat.
A useful strategy is to make sure you send all your Men at Arms to your main army, save Onagers and other siege weapons, and keep a smaller army for taking castles. Siege weapons aren't that helpful in battle but super useful for speeding up sieges. An example of when that would have helped a bit is around 1:45:00: your main fighting army was missing your horsemen who were off sieging but had onagers when it wasn't super useful. You can't trust the auto split feature in these situations, have to break them out manually.
Fun fact: you no longer need to play on Ironman mode to get achievements in most Paradox games. Edit: also most mods (sometimes even total conversation) don't block achievements.

Hi Legend, if you click left on the button next to sort nu you get multiple options. One is to search congenital traits. That way you don't have to scroll through it, it will give you a list with available people

Thank you for covering one of my favourite games, CK3, to give you a little bit of help. The accolades are up to 5 special knights (one slot from cultural inovation, second from cultural inovations, third for being king, fourth for being emperor, fifth from one particular dynasty legacy) that give you special bonuses the higher their level is (they increase it by being in wars and tournaments and such). The bonuses are for example better chance in your shcemes, chance to get blademaster trait if you don't have it, some more stats, better hunts, up to 40% more martial lifestyle experience etc. What bonuses your knights gave you depends on their traits, for that you have to look up the ck3 wiki on accolades, but my favourite is knight with "open terrain expert" (which gives 15% army move speed). And lastly, each accolade knight has primari and secondary bonuses he gives, primary stays but the secondary bonuses change depending on the accolade knight sucesor (each knight can have one successor at a time, that successor has to have the trait for the primari bonuses, sometimes you have such knight in your army or court, sometimes you have to go look for them) The moment an accolade knight dies without successor, the accolade position is deactivated until you find someone to fullfill the trait requirements or you put different accolade there Also you can tell your bishop to fabricate claim on a county of some foreign ruler (it will take him around 13 months, it will cost like 45 gold) and then if you fabricate multiple countys claims in this way, you can then declare war on the dude for all of them at once in [my claim] cassus belli (but you might need some cultural inovation for this, i am not sure) Hope this helped and that you enjoy your time plaing

By the way, the Hetaeriae and Accolades is just the Byzantine tab for knights. If you played kingdom of england for example that tab will just say "knights" and it is kijd of a cool feature in crusader kings 3 that actual characters in your court are your elite fighting troops which you can choose to assign.
Its certainly enough for the basegame. That actually kinda gets stale, just spamming wars for the most part. The dlcs with tournaments, plagues or collecting items are what slowly adds more to do and more to keep an eye out for.

Love this game! If your or any other readers are new to this series, my advice is to just take your time and focus on the dynasty aspect of the game, and try to role-play as your character(dont do things that increase stress). The rest will come to you as you put in the hours. This is less paint the map, more enjoy the ride.
3 hours of Crusader Kings 3. Kinda fitting for the numbers. And playing the Byzantines to restore Rome. Why is it that whenever one can play as Byzantines players always try to restore Rome? It's like the "When in Rome..." proverb. When in Byzantium, try to restore the Roman Empire. The Byzantine Empire is one of my favorite nations in any strategy game, so it's nice to have a huge unedited campaign of the nation.

Hey Legend. I finished this game multiple times a while back but had serious problems in the late game with the turns freezing up etc from the amount of stuff happening. Does the same issue exist in the super late game? That's actually when i started playing Warhammer and found your channel, too many late game bugs with CK3

This game is more comparable to bannerLord in terms of, it's complex and deep but it feels comfortable and manageable being challenging at the same time

1:09:50 but you could fight the battles manually with Crusader Wars mod ;) For those that haven't heard about it yet it allows to manually resolve your Ck3 battles in Attila. And there is another one called Crusader Blade that does the same thing with M&B Bannerlord.
Byzantium is great for getting Spanish dynasty legacies as you can move capital to Spain, spend renown on the first legacy in metropolitan, then take the decision to reclaim Constantinople which moves your capital. Mallorca is easy for this. Normally you can only move capital once per lifetime. Also the holy sites are great
I actually made this game much harder for myself because I refused to sell off my daughters like cargo to gain wealth and power. The fact that I manage to "finish" any campaign is a miracle :P
What are your general, genuine thoughts on the game? I am curious, as I think you said previously that PDX games weren't exactly your thing, though I could be misremembering.
I've always been a fan of paradox games. I just struggle to make the videos work on the channel. The long-play i did for Millennia worked quite well so we're trying that again for CK3. I've got over 1000 hours in both CK2 and Stellaris.

Total war is complicated in a different way especially warhammer 3 the expanded immortal empires map and all the mods that add new legendary lords to play

There is a new Stellaris dlc (which you might know yourself, just saying for others) with the fourth crisis and more machine/synthetic stuff, so wouldnt be the worst timing either.

Most CK games I've seen "evolve" into eugenics projects - the desire to have as many positive inherited Traits as possible is very strong.
Ck3, otherwise known as the Habsburg simulator. Collecting good traits until you can breed out the inbred trait.

Yo! CK3 is my favorite Paradox game. Got like 1500 hours in it. I was really hoping that paradox would get a bit of the CA DLC kerfuffle.

Without the DLC this game has very little going for it.
For free its still enjoyable but yeah the dlc bring a lot to the game
You only need the base game (to have access to steam workshop) then you can pirate the rest.
