lightening the tear stains are useless if you don't get rid of the cause. I have a shih tzu with a white face, and he was terribly stained, my vet said it is normal some dogs stain others don't, then I went to a vet specialist in gastro intestinal problems , he explained to me that most vets don't know it but the cause is in the intestinal tract that forms bacteria che causes the stains in tears, salava and urine. this bacteria causes an abundance of iron, that is what causes the stain. That is why often dogs that lick their paws end up with pink paws too. the hair on their private parts can be red also. the only thing that really normalizes the intestinal track is tylan, tylan is an antibiotic that is active ONLY in the intestinal track, that's why it works because that is where the problem is located. It doesn't kill the bacteria but it normalizes the intestinal track, so that bacteria stops growing. this was 10 years ago, treated him for 20 days and he is now 11 years old and pure white never stained again. too bad I can't post the photos here. Angel Eyes used to have Tylan in it, that is why it worked, it is no longer approved not because it was harmful but because angel eyes is an over the counter product, and they could not sell over the counter a product that contained antibiotic. You need to have a vet prescription. Angel eyes removed that active ingredient therefor it doesn't work anymore.

Hi Maltese Obsession I adore you all you do in your videos it’s just outstanding tips especially when you cover the safety issues with using tools in the wrong way like a toothbrush do not use that in the eye area for cleaning good information for Maltese owners and like the products you recommend for tear stains have to try them! I have very good results from your Lavish Blueberry Spa wash for Tear Stains my Misha Bella is not real bad just need to clean her eyes daily then she is given homemade dog food that we make to also avoid dyes that are in commercial dry food on the grocery or pet store shelves it’s not nutritious so we go the extra step to cook real vegetables small amount of protein meat like beef filet mignonette steak or chicken peas carrots green beans just google if your in doubt whether a dog ingredient is safe ok then always add a filler in the mix like sweet potato or rice one or the other pulse it in a blender that’s it freeze a couple batches cool down to room temps before freezing the batch in the refrigerator just use up 7-10 days ok and I feed two teaspoons each meal check with your vet for the size of your doggie the correct measurement of food but two teaspoons is good for my Yorkie 6lbs and Maltese 7 lb ok hope this helps get the word out there to cook homemade nutritious food for your little doggies ok and please join my group Maltese & Furbabies on Facebook Groups ok appreciate your amazing helpful videos always share yours in my groups Maltese Fairytales FB Group, Luv My Babes In Toyland, & Maltese Puppy Love 💗 ok 👍
I have heard that giving them purified bottled water to drink instead of tap water helps to prevent tearing. Colloidal silver also helps too!
Yes bottled water and avoiding foods with red dyes definitely plays a role. As a chemist, I personally am not a big fan of colloidal silver for the eyes. We prefer to limit the use of colloidal silver, but this is just our personal preference.😊

Glad you are making new tear staining videos. I have been following you for a almost a year now since I got my Maltese Bella she is less than a year old. And her tear stains are terrible. I have tried all your tips and it isn't working. Her problem is she tears so much. I clean her face and in five minutes it's wet again. I'm hoping it's gets better once she is fully grown. I am going to try this pure paw kit see if it works. Any further recommendations are appreciated. Thank you for the video

Pearl, I tried everything in the market. Including watching videos. Until I came across- a great product of tear stains. I use on my Maltese- Always bright eyes!!! It cleared my puppy’s tear stains. Try it!

My dog died early in December, my daughter and Family gave me a Shih Tzu and he has very bad tear stains. He is mostly white do you think that this method would be appropriate for him? Thank you for the informative videos that you and your precious pups make for us. Blessings.

Yes the levels of cleaning that we show in this video applies to any color dog really, with the exception of the powder that would have to be a clear powder for darker haired dogs. I have 3 girls that went from pure white a year ago to all teared up, nothing seems to be working. Just purchased and received the Love My Eyes full kit a week ago, hoping this helps. Love your beautiful girls and the helpful videos!

My Maltese hasn’t had tear stains in months because my vet prescribed med Vt Classic Tear Stain, got rid of hers almost over night- a tablet you crumble in her food. It marvelous, ask your vey this other stuff is garbage.

My Maltese started turning orange and has had severe tear staining since moving to Florida 3 months ago.I've resorted to bathing her with distilled water because there is a significantly high amounts of iron in the water down here. We're still trying to find something that will being her back to that beautiful white coat.
Hi Tammy -- we are sad to hear of this environmentally triggered staining for your baby. Sometimes once the tearing is triggered, it takes working with the vet and/or groomer to try to 'stop the cycle' of tearing. We are wishing you luck as you work through this. We'd love to hear what finally works to stop the cycle. You are not alone, as many of us go through these seasons of tearing and staining. ❤️
