  • I was able to catch up with Donnie Craig to check out his monster buck. This buck is a main frame 10 point scoring just over 170 inches! This buck will probably stay in the 160's. It's by far the biggest rack I have ever put my hands on! Congrats Donnie!

I have been deer hunting over 40 years and the last 5 or 6 years I have seen many many super nice bucks taken in SC and expect that trend to keep growing with the introduction of deer tags that are being used now . If we manage the doe herd the bucks will grow and I am happy to see it a lot of the younger hunters don't know that it wasn't so long ago that it was hard to even find a deer here nothing like now and we are seeing bucks growing to get bigger now . God Bless and stay safe .

This year I made the decision to not shoot Does in S.C from now on. Too many damn Coyotes thinning the public land herds out. It's bad in the Upstate. I see more Coyotes huntin public than deer!

Talk about Old Home Day! I first met Mr. Sutton and his family when I moved to Pageland in 1988 and clearly recall when he opened his shop. Right out of the box he started producing some of the finest mounts/taxidermy I have seen to this day! All that and he is a fine young man too. And don't get me started on Mr. Donnie and his family....Thems some good people!!! That Mr. Donnie might well end up in the South Carolina record books is a testament to his sportsmanship and marksmanship. And by the way, one of my best friends with whom, and on whose property (right up the road from Mr. Sutton's place) I have been hunting this season, is just 34 and he has tagged out for the season shooting a scoped, early 1980s Remington 700 in .30-06 with the longest one shot kill being a laser measured 196 yards. The '06 might be old but she ain't dead yet....But then neither is the .35 Remington I prefer....Just sayin'. Excellent video as usual! Keep 'em comin'!

You know, you say you got to go up north or out west to see one that big. But, I have seen a lot of pictures coming from South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama with bucks that caliber. Check out Georgia Outdoor News and there Truck Buck contest to see each weeks entries. For years now, you hear of the next great caliber being produced. Seems like every year there is a new one. And I have yet to see one that kills a deer any better or faster than the ones we already have. No problem with creating these new cartridges. Its just how a lot of people get caught up in the hype.

I hunt about eight miles as the crow fly's from where that deer was shot i hope to see a big one like that one day. i shot a 127 in chesterfield last year, four year old deer they are there just not very many. people keep going up north to kill you a big Yankee deer just stay out of South Carolina. There is nothing to see or shot here. go away.
