Agree with you Frank. Chris comments below just shows he doesn't follow tennis very much or know his stuff. I've watched Shap since being a teenager and and he should have been top 5 at least but totally agree his talent is amazing but without a stong mindset you will always get beaten more. As the years go on he's only going one way and that's down at 23 yo he should be top 5 not 21st. Another example is say Andy Murray. Shap as and always will have way more explosive talent than Andy but Andys mindset(not talking about current form as he's now way past is best of course) and strong mental attitude as shown thats more important than talent to do great things in tennis

That was the best ball striking rally game I've seen of this generation. No player had clear advantage though Shapo opened up on shots a lot bigger. This US open is proving some SPECTACULAR men's matches only up til the 3rd round. Baez vs Alcaraz was like ali vs frazier. You still have the purest striker/player Gasquet in the mix. @@Frank_Lee_Terrible I agree that was the best system. Usually if a match goes past 12-12 in the fifth, it’s probably not super entertaining, and is likely just a servebot fest. The best grand slam matches between the big 3 usually ended before that point. 9-7, 10-8, 7-5.

They're both heavy-hitting. You should play against such a level opponent to realize how intense it happens. You lose your focus, the point's gone.

Nothing new, Shapo snatching defeat once again from the jaws of victory. He seems to lack that true belief in himself when the chips are down. He had soooooooo many breakpoints on Rublev's serve and only capitalized on a few. Love his go-for-broke style (but that will always yield a shitload of ufe's - unless you're prime Fed).

Read the comments, extended highlights come out tomorrow. Probably hard to edit that together in such a short turnaround

Great match, delighted Rublev won as Shapovalov's constant ranting and whining during the match was really annoying.
