And everyone out there ! I am right now in this moment and am breaking these negative habits it’s gonna be hard but Ik I’m not my thoughts! You got this ! 💕
I have trouble actually believing this. I want to. Every time I experience a thought, I say to myself “what if I am my thoughts?” But I guess that doubt is just another thought.
The quote concerning not cherrishing opinions is from the THIRD CHINESE PATRIARCH OF ZEN from the famous text HSIN HSIN MING (which is, by the way, a wonderful text) Tolles explaination is great!! He is a real zen master 😊
Thinking about thinking is metacognition which can be very helpful in exploring why we think what we think. Thinking about thoughts, however, yeah it's very bad.
"This is said to be the sublime abiding, by not holding to fixed views, the pure hearted one, having clarity of vision, being freed from all sense desires, is not born again into this world." Buddha
Nice. Every thought is an idea. Those ideas are always observable by eternal divine power . You are that divine power. Power is not physical but formless, timeless and spaceless awareness that illuminate all experiences.
The job I feel of the ego, is to entertain me, but I need to guide my ego, as to what I find entertaining, loving guiding my ego, holsum in it's nature, in my nature, thanks to Jeshua.

/ Your thoughts are of a ghost ... that has no shape, no smell, no weight, no sound, no taste, no heat ... it's all upto you whether you believeitornot /
‘You don’t need to be the thoughts’, this is true, but through conscious elevation, once thoughts are seen and clearly recognised, can you discern the truth of thoughts do you think? can you choose (or can you/consciousness) discern what feeds or supports the separate self/ego and ‘pure’ thoughts, thoughts that carry some truth or insight, yes we are not our thoughts, they pass through us, like clouds, but we should not disregard them? some are from a place of truth, first (for most this is not possible) but first we see them, then we know we are not them but the space in which they arise, then we can choose to ignore or engage in them, but what about discernment, I feel many a thought has passed (mainly negative supporting a negative self image), but some are directly from the source of truth, I suppose these are the non personal benefitting thoughts, I’m beginning to feel a discerning quality to my true nature that recognised what supports truth, hopefully some get this
I have noticed that the more accurate a thought is the more empowering, inspiring, uplifting, wholesome and encouraging tends to be. Highly inaccurate thoughts tend to be filled with illogical negative assumptions and never work, they are therefore irrelevant. For example: Let's say an average 50 y/o woman would love to play guitar but she thinks it's too late to learn to play well at her age, that's an example of a disempowering thought full of assumptions and logical fallacies. Because, in reality, the average 50 y/o can totally learn to play guitar very well with 1h of daily practice for a couple years. And can totally derive great enjoyment from practicing guitar in the first couple of months, and that would be an encouraging, empowering, uplifting thought and (most importantly) it's vastly more accurate in relation to reality than the "can't do it" one. This was just an example, but in my experience it works with every single thought without fail. Empowering = more accurate Disempowering = highly inaccurate Long story short, anything less than neutral is just smoke and mirrors and has no relevance whatsoever for you. Except for its utility in order to recognize what's highly inaccurate.
We are the witness or awareness of mind and body but when we have serious headache or tooth ache we forget the witnessing and become one with body and want to remove pain please guide
does anyone know if eckhart has ever spoken about thoughts in a positive way? for example a constructive kind of thinking that helps you to solve problems and find solutions?
The idea is to fully use your mind and thoughts to solve problems when you need to. When you are not problem solving (doing homework etc) you should aim to live in the present and enjoy the here and now. The majority of the time we are not problem solving

You're held accountable for what you say, not what you think. Who can hold you accountable for what you think besides yourself? And how can you hold yourself accountable for something if you don't believe it's true? If someone told you an obvious lie, how can you be held accountable if you don't believe it nor repeat it nor act on it?
If you are not your thoughts, then where is your conscience? Maybe you are not your NEGATIVE thoughts is a better approach? Someone explain this to me please
If you feel you are the space - then you don't get lost in the thought. The thought does not consume you. You can the see the thought for what it is: useful, useless, pointless, senseless, imaginary, insightful, meaningful or meaningless. If you listen to what Mr. Tolle says across different videos - you'll be able to see it. If one practises being aware of one's thoughts - the miserable or negative feelings that come with many (not all) thoughts, and keep knocking again and again can cease. But for that to happen - one has to be aware of the thought.
@@shilpisarkar6827 I'd say even all of them, once you realize that no disempowering thought is accurate it's totally possible to let them all float by while you remain relaxed.
@@KnockManJo Yes, you are right. It's that keen awareness, which allows one to identify those critters of disempowering and generally negative thoughts and also to see that they are not accurate. When the awareness is low - that complete identification takes over. What a nice way to put it in: "...let them float all by while you remain relaxed...". Someone should write a song with those words.
@@shilpisarkar6827 There's a song with something similar that comes to mind. "Here Comes a Thought" from the Steven Universe animated series, its lyrics are designed to put you in the Observer position. One of the lines says: "We can watch, we can watch them (thoughts) go by, from here".
@@KnockManJo Thanks a tonne for the song suggestion. Delightful and perceptive song, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the little video along with, and the line "something you (I) did that failed to be charming" made me chuckle. But yes, the song does allow one to be in the observer mode. Interesting to think that it's made for children. Thank you, again. I think you may like a song by Tenzin Choegyal: The Heart Sutra. I don't know for sure though. Wishing you a good day ahead.

Very good
Wait, so even the thoughts I consciously create aren’t to be identified with? They are just thoughts created from the mind?
Good question

Wow, that's deep. So you're like a theatre, listening and watching whispers with no bodies. The whispers have no person connected to it.

How long must we continue with this bad spelling? It should be "Dao De Jing".
