Kudos to the man running that hotel. It's good to finally hear of someone taking care of people during a disaster. You don't hear much of that anymore these days. So a big kudos to this hotel manager for taking such good care of these people. Awesome credit to him as well David. Thank you for your dedication to bringing us this video. Our prayers are with you and all of Texas effected by this.
Thanks for this. My family & friends are in the greater Houston area so it's good to know from a reliable source what it's like for visitors. I'm glad that my brother & I, who both grew up there, are safe living in the beautiful PNW where all we have to fear is an earthquake: The Big One! No hurricanes though. Just rain from Oct-March, but who's complaining? Keeping Texans in my heart. Wishing all a safe, relatively dry week without the need for heroics.
Keep up the good work man. stay safe! I've been through some crazy Storms and Hurricanes and its sometimes scary even when you are prepared. Glad to hear Reeds team is safe.
We're in Brownsville Tx and ppl here prepared, but im so grateful we didnt get this storm. Amazing A KILLER MONSTER !!! So scary. You all be safe. God be with you.
To David and the like of others pursuing this type of endeavor: This is very gallant and intrepid of you. Just as one would venture overseas to fight for the military. Woe betide you when the foreseen circumstances overwhelm you. When you're spiritually extricated from danger and despair, to whom do you give thanks to? Yes. In the end, it's all about HIM and very little of you. Blessings.
I live in Alaska and when we get hurricane force winds over 100 mph there's a horrible, high pitched continuous scream--I'm not hearing that here, just the roaring that's also common here. Is that just the camera not picking it up?
I am from from Jamaica and in my living room watching your video. And also you guys are doing a very good job letting us know what is happening in Texas
Major respect to the guy who went out in it to save his fellow chaser and also to the hotel owner. I'm in northeast Texas and have all of you in my thoughts.
Jeska Doy opening a door is not compromising a structure. Doors themselves are weak points in any building along with Windows, vents, and anything that is not solid. Storm chasers are storm crews that go into the worst parts if storm to collect data on weather patterns and on the individual storms themselves
These "storm chasers" are being incredibly brave and throwing themselves into the middle of the worst storms so they can collect data that will hopefully help save lives in the future. They know what they are doing, they wouldn't go into the middle of a storm of their own will if they didn't have the training for it.
It will pop the windows on the opposite side of a small building. I broke two windows in my front room by opening my back door during Jeanne. Technically that could count. Guy doesn't seem like an actual storm chaser though, just a local news field anchor or something.
1. The guy in the video is obviously not a storm chaser, he's a fucking new reporter and the storm chasers we are talking about are the ones who opened the back door to go onto the balcony where the storm was hitting. 2. The reporter only opened a back door to a balcony in the hotel. The hurricane wasn't hitting that part of the building so it was safe to open. 3. There were two sets of doors to the outside (specifically designed in case of a hurricane) so if one was opened then the entire building wouldn't be flooded by water and wind.
I was in Hurricane Gustov before Ike hit doing contractor security work for Entergy. We were transporting into Ike while it was happening. INTENSE!! Damn do I want to experience that again.
That is so cool you are with Reed Timmers team at the same location! Totally didn't get excited when you mentioned him...nope. XD But in all seriousness please say safe dude.
We learn at a young age in Florida that when a window lets the wind in, pressure increases and the wind across thee roof makes it act like an airplane wing lifting it. There goes the roof. When a window breaks, or a door opens, you have to open one on the other side to save the roof. Wind blowing thru the house in that case is bad, but better than really bad.
Hurricanes, while having a huge destructive force and are a very bad thing for everyone involved sure are fascinating. On one hand i'm glad switzerlands geographical location does not allow for any hurricanes, on the other hand, i'm kinda sad as well. I love the atmosphere when a thunderstorm passes by, a hurricane would be even more intriguing
We're in the Dallas Ft.Worth area it's just foggy here small amount of rain. Nothing serous here. But I worry about the amount of rain and flooding comming!!!
keybladesarah probably not. Hurricanes are gigantic though, and can throw off storms and tornadoes hundreds of miles away. So it's possible but probably not likely.
Hope everybody is ok. It's 6:20 in Florida so 5:20 there. I'm not looking forward to daytime footage in a few hours. Hotel owner has insurance. He's good. You guys be safe!
Was this the Category 5 rated hotel that had an entire, multi story wall collapse on one side of the building? I've only watched 6 minutes of it, so far. "The building is fine" was not a true statement, I think, but he didn't know that yet.
Nine hours of slow moving category four storm is bad enough, how much damage will it cost if it sits there for two or more days. I guess the whole area will be stripped naked to the bones.
i know what it is like to go through a major high category hurricane as in 2004 in florida i survived hurricane charlie the worst part of charlie at that i was 10 years old at the time

thank you never thought I would see the eye of a hurricane in Texas from Australia AWESOME :)

Tara N. When does Alaska get hurricanes?
Daily Scratcher He or she said hurricane force winds, not hurricanes.
It's not a hurricane anymore and the winds are slower that's why you hear nothing.
How does this week go from a total solar eclipse, to a total devastating hurricane in texas....
rated for a cat5 and there are no storm shutters on the windows?

From Miami this event, that reminds me of my time going through hurricane Andrew & Wilma. May God be with you all.....
Great coverage. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe!
Who the hell are these "storm chasers"? Opening doors or windows compromise the structure. How come these "storm chasers" don't know that? 🤷🏽♂️

"compromise the structure"? Somebody compromised your brain obviously.

Dude! We're in corpus and it's ugly, be safe man and remember that it will always let up no matter how long it lasts
He knows, he’s a meteorologist
Watching you in the hurricane from Holland.
He's so cute. I wouldn't mind being trapped in the hurricane with him hahaha
I was in Hurricane Gustov before Ike hit doing contractor security work for Entergy. We were transporting into Ike while it was happening. INTENSE!! Damn do I want to experience that again.

GOD BE WITH ALL OF YOU!!!
Who came here from his GQ video where he breaks down weather in movies

I will be praying for him ! So yummy looking and he seems like a real grownup. A man.
Weirdo
Here in Houston we have luckily only gotten high winds and Lots of rain I am blessed and really lucky

It sounds like you're flying a helicopter through a waterfall. Damn. Stay safe.
Thank u for sharing,, I have a lot of family near coast
After ten years of smart phones, you'd think people should have learned that you can turn you phone to the side while recording...
VERY good reporting here!! 👍🏻👏🏻😉

Currently taking bets on whether Alex Jones calls Hurricane Harvey a false flag operation
Kxan doesn't have any flashlights?

We're in the Dallas Ft.Worth area it's just foggy here small amount of rain. Nothing serous here. But I worry about the amount of rain and flooding comming!!!

I hope that all the people stuck in the hurricane are ok, and also Canada getting hit a little so far we only got medium speed winds
keybladesarah probably not. Hurricanes are gigantic though, and can throw off storms and tornadoes hundreds of miles away. So it's possible but probably not likely.

I'm in Beaumont. Anybody got a news report for me?
Godspeed to Y'all.
Harvey will regret attacking Texas just like Santa Anna did.
Blake B whos Santa anna?
I hope for Texas right now and I live in the Midwest of USA
Nine hours of slow moving category four storm is bad enough, how much damage will it cost if it sits there for two or more days. I guess the whole area will be stripped naked to the bones.
The last Category 4 hurricane to hit Texas prior to Harvey was Carla in 1961
10 4 Boss...we hear the wind...waiting for daylight!
here's a crazy idea, tilt into landscape view.
The storm could've been stronger if it kept on intensifying when the winds were at 85mph...
