This sergeant was incredibly cool under pressure! He got in the fight and won. Stayed calm with direction of travel and medical treatment. Prayers for this hero.
Your take is probably what happened. I'm in Austin, so I see a lot of these Houston videos. When this came out, it was reported that the crime suppression unit was looking for this guy, and he happened to be breaking into that truck when the undercover officer stumbled upon him. It's cold how callously he just kept firing into the car like life didn't matter at all. Until it's his own.
Fantastic break down and points regarding the medical aid and "need" to rush in on an armed and dangerous suspect to provide them with aid. Great video as usual!
As a TEMS medic, the Sgt. showed that he trained and knew what needed handling. Thank you SFP for highlighting this and reinforcing the need for medical training for not just speciality units, but for LE in general.
I just dropped some personal $ on medical gear for my cruiser. I’m still looking to get more to carry in my cargo pocket on patrol. It’s videos like this that push me to get better.
Take a look at some Leatherman Raptor shears for your kit. The standard medical shears out there are sometimes utter garbage. I hope you have a good supply of Quick Clot or Celox Z-fold gauze, a few chest seals, Israeli bandages, and tourniquets. It's spendy, but you know it's worth your life.
I understand the biology behind why people close to death get really calm because of the shock, but there’s something so creepy and uncanny about it. The fact that when you die, you likely won’t even be strong enough to realize it or even to fear it.
I liked this break down and will have to give this channel a follow. I’d add to one point made about slowing down and no need to rush the suspect: If an ambulance is being called to the scene for Sarge then it’s important to make the scene safe first, and would require approaching the suspect as they did. Otherwise, if Sarge is getting thrown in a cruiser (whether to the hospital or to meet the ambulance further away from the scene) then yeah, definitely be more methodical and safe with the suspect.
Hate seeing my brothers in blue in a situation like that. Officer is a complete savage for being able to return fire with the amount of damage he had taken. I love the videos yall put out! Keep up the great work brothers!
It is really cold blooded how he could just stand there and fire multiple shots and walk around the vehicle to maybe finish it. I don't know if he got caught in his seat belt but he is very fortunate that guy wasn't quicker about his actions. I couldn't imagine being in that situation though, I bet his adrenaline was out of control and until your in a situation like that you never know what's going to happen. Love this podcast and sure hope I get that medicbox!!!
The scariest thing about this is it was an ambush, but the guy didn't know it was an officer. It could have been someone working at that business park coming to see why their security camera went off. That wasn't a patrol car they were UC surveillance on him. It could have just been a security guard or business owner, and he just hides, then starts firing repeated on the driver.
Good luck in your career, Sir. Never rely on your department for anything. Spend your time and money on developing yourself and kitting out yourself. But hey, the freebies are nice. Does your department participate in the DRMO, now called DLA, program? The military gives away a ton of good kit to law enforcement, including IFAK's. My former agency acquired IFAK's for everyone and I added to it. Look at buying a pair of Leatherman Raptor shears to go in your kit. They are much better at cutting clothing than the standard medical shears.

And people want to defund the police.. only people say that shit are criminals
Fellas, the flag behind you is illegal. One can't create their own US flag.
Hard to watch huh?! 😂
