I'm white and was locked up in LA County. First of all, that place ain't no joke, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Be honest, listen more than you talk, BE CLEAN and respect people's privacy. Most guys just looking to do their time and get out. Don't stick your business where it not supposed to be. Don't talk to the guards unless they talk to you. BE CLEAN, don't gamble anything you don't have, don't borrow and stand your ground but be respectful. It's really that simple and those are pretty much standard anywhere.

I was in for 9 days, but the only cooking i did was frying baloney in the microwave. I saw some hot pot cooking but wasnt at the point I was trying to sample it.

I've done time all over the states from Kansas to St.louis to Chicago to Detroit and everyplace Ive been to but Kansas I was able to associate with who I wanted to associate with. There was no major issues between other white guys, granted I am a little bigger than most men but even the biggest guys can get jumped no problem. It's like CMac said, you gotta stand up for your own and be willing to go above and beyond for what you believe in. I never been checked in my life but in the pen you can feel when guys are watching you planning and waiting for a weakness and or opportunity to catch you slippin. But for the most part I never had problems with anyone or group of any kind. I kicked it with whites, blacks, Mexicans and even natives or different minority races. I didn't gamble or drink or do drugs, I stayed out the way of things that can lead to you owing people or having to piece someone up for them owing you. And like I said, just cause you may be big don't underestimate the next man because trust me there are smaller guys that will fuck you up. Respect everyone and demand the same, stand your ground and don't talk too much and you'll be fine behind them bars. @@Chris-iy4vr they weren't all prisons, some were just county jails. But if you know you know, sometimes that jail time is harder to do. Cramped pods and no outside time. A couple of those places were like gladiator camps fights every day stabbings and gangs running shit. But it's been yeeeeaars since I've done time. I've got kids now and stay outta trouble (for the most part) lol
