Could I ask what upgrades you did to this and what the top speed was looking like? Mine seems to top out at 55MPH and also does not accelerate in the top gear.
Hello, replaced barrel and piston to 175, raised needle in carb 2 to 3 notches, big one full exhaust . Engine crank seals had been done earlier so left them alone. 60 to 65 top speed but would not want too push more than that anyway, also converted to 12 v electrics with kit from Rex's Speed Shop
@@nimotaranger8252 if you are happy with fueling on the flat road and exhaust is clear does sound like low compression to me, easy to remove barrel and piston to check bore. Good luck!
I've just bought a DT125MX. Flat out it does 65mph. Is that normal? I thought they were good for 75mph. Perhaps mine has been geared down for off road use
That's about right for a 125cc air cooled bike, easy to convert to 175 if you change barrel and piston. Later dt125r more powerful derestricted but that's water cooled with power valve. Enjoy it for what it is and explore some lanes or light green lanes
@@everythingandanything6405 I know about DTRs and electronic power valves but I wanted an old school mx. I might look out for a 175 piston and barrel but I imagine they're scarce
@@richplank1158 I found one no problem, need to be patient though, just had to adjust carb needle up 2 but did fit big one exhaust at same time. 12v conversion well worth doing too, 6v lighting not good!
@@everythingandanything6405 I've just bought a full big one. I've got some carbon reeds and a sponge filter as the old airbox has been butchered. It will probably need rejetting and fiddling to get it to run right. The bike looked good but the deeper I go the more bodgery I'm finding. It's now pretty much a bare rolling frame as that needs a repaint. Are you on Facebook it might be good to share tips

nice bike ..did you go to work with it ?
It's unrestored bar fuel tank refinished, replaced monoshock last year with nos from America, no aftermarket replacement available.
hi ! my dt 125 mx always struggle when going uphill and i have to drop to second gear just to keep it running....do you know what the problems ?
Could be low compression, had a rebore at any time
@@everythingandanything6405 thanks man ! ill check it out
