This story has haunted me since i read it. Sometimes I think, "what if the afterlife is like the jaunt? The reason sentient life cannot know what lies beyond life is because if it knew the horror that awaited it, the mind would snap" That's cosmic horror :)
While I hope it never happens to you .... if you ever get to 'enjoy' sleep paralysis, you'll understand the terror of the jaunt time the story describes firsthand. Longer than you think, indeed 8-O
