- Really nice improvement here. Source recording was a bit fuzzy, drab, and dark, but using Topaz and Resolve I put a real nice shine on it . See the before/after screenshots here --- imgbox.com/g/5Zu2TCAtCV
Jayne Kennedy was a boom boom hottie.
*Respectfully*
Thanks again for your hard work, Dave.
You ain’t kidding there Don Carpenter . She was the living definition of The 2 word phrase😢
… S M O K I N H O T. ! I. And the audience lowly yells out ( Dangerfield style “”. How hot was she ? And then. You answer back “” I’m tellin ya you have no idea how hot this girl was , I’m tellin ya im tellin ya this girl was hotter than the space shuttle exhaust during liftoff !
Is that hot enough for you ?
Bookqqqq aqqqqqp van we’re
She is beautiful 😍
Back then Leon was her man...
She was mighty mighty
God I wanted her ever since the first time i saw her on "Diffrent Strokes", as Arnolds school teacher.
Was too young to know what to actually do with her, but then again, i probably still wouldnt, judging my performance in the sack.
I don't know what I enjoyed more the game or the commercials from the 1970's, Thank you for this video.
Wang!!!! computers are the future.
The TRS-80 for $600 (equal to $2800 in 2024).
The disco music before the ads brings back so many great memories.
I was 15 at the time.
The commercials are what makes me watch the this thing
Dave this is one of your best uplaods ever as I literally felt like I was living in a time machine on Thanksgiving Day 1978 with the commercials, and I love seeing this great era of The NFL Today as well. This is a true treasure of an enhanced upload as this looks like you cable back in 1978, that's how great the quality was here. Redskins and Cowboys had some truly beautiful uniforms here as I hate it that the Skins took away the gold pants the season after this one. Watching the 70s Cowboys is special too.
I was watching this on my TV last night and you're right - for whatever reason this one just has the 'look' of an original airing. Not sure what the difference was, but this one just really 'took' to the enhancement.
One of the most dominating performance of the 70s Cowboys defense.
Seeing Irv Cross being very sharp and articulate here, it's sad to think that in the decades to come he would suffer from dementia and was diagnosed with CTE.
Sports television nowadays could use more presenters in the mold of Irv Cross.
Dude was class as is and was C.B.S. Always the best news, sports and tv shows from the very beginning.
Irv was the BOMB!
After leaving CBS he eventually ended up in Minneapolis St Paul and eventually worked for KMSP in Vikings coverage
Brookshire and Summerall is always a treat. Thank you Coach
Brookshire was so generic and always sounded like he was on the sauce. 😂
@@rkid727 what's your point? haha
@@rkid727that’s the 70s the audio and video wasn’t that good as it is today.
@@rkid727about as generic as your idiotic comments
@@davemartino5997 no doubt. I love that era. More of a joke than a critique. The color man changed with Madden. Before that, the color guys weren’t expected to be experts.
Staubach vs Thiesmann.. what a classic treat!
Thanks so much for another amazing enhancement. I love your uploads that have the pregame and commercials as well - The full on nostalgia experience!
Another great game! Great memories. I was 13 when I first watched this and at that time I wanted to grow up and be like Larry Csonka or Robert Newhouse. Thanks for bringing up these good memories with these great games.
I was the same age. Great time to be a kid. Football was better, Baseball was better, TV shows were better, music was better, life was better!

I was 16 when this aired. I LOVED Thanksgiving games. Would love to go back to that day, when I was 16, happy, most of my relatives were still alive. My mom (who I miss dearly) was cooking the bird in the kitchen, and my dad and I were watching football while the guests were arriving. Such a fun, simple time. Now I’m a grumpy old man of 61 lol.
I LOVE seeing the commercials from that time as well.
Another then 13 year-old checking in. I recall sitting around the dinner table with family that Thanksgiving. 🎉 It was a transitional year for this St. Louis kid, as l was painfully aware the Coach Coryell era was over for my NFC Cardinals, but my AFC Oilers rise of the past few years was finally gonna result in a playoff berth. Couldn't stand Dallas or Washington, but most any game between these two was can't miss TV back in the 1970s & 80s.
Luved Ya Mom, Dad, & Blue.! 💙
Thanks for the game never thought these days would end.Makes me think of family good times.
It always seemed cool to me when I was a kid when the road team who played their home games on grass came into Dallas wearing their home colors on the turf with all of the shadows
And I always liked when all of the NFC East teams would wear their whites at home & make Dallas wear their royal blue jerseys
Back then those jerseys were a bit of a curse for Dallas & they dropped them for good after they lost the NFC Championship game in 1980 to the Eagles.
Like always Dave, these colors are really popping ! Thanks again
The announcements made about the upcoming Cotton Bowl game with Notre Dame vs the Southwest Conference Champ. The ND QB was Joe Montana.
Much appreciated....thanks for your work on these classic games.
He's putting the NFL to shame. One of my faves channels on YT
I honestly can't believe the NFL hasn't swooped in and shut me down. I mean, I've been running wild doing enhancements for over 9 months now.
Shhh! Don't Jinx It
@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 Knock on wood!
@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 Would be a shame if they do....they should hire you to do the work that you are doing by bringing these classics back to life. In the meantime, hurry with more games like these....
Tremendously clean and bright enhancement. This video has a shine it hasn't had since it first aired. And I always enjoy seeing the Cowboys pummel the Redskins. Great job, Dave!
Some enhancements just really 'take hold' more than others. This was definitely one of them.
And how!
One of the TVs at my local Afghan restaurant was recently playing Super Bowl XIII and in the corner there was the DaveVolsky logo!
Haha!
Mad props to you for getting this cleaned up and posted. Commercials and all to boot!! I was 14 years old and loving that this game was on Thanksgiving so I didn't have to miss any of the game while I was at church. Mass at 11:30am was sacred in our house. That's why I go at 7:30am now 😀
THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️You even left the old commercials in . YES!!!! My only way to go back in time besides music. For someone who was plopped in front of this box as a toddler, there has never been a day I didn’t spend at least 7 hours a day in front of. My average the past ten years is approximately 16 hours a day. ( see Everything is on T.V.- The Hellacopters )…Retro- tv is my heaven. I don’t watch any new shows. Thank you for letting me go back in time. I cherish every second. Keep it up. Any old shows, fights, news events, upload them. I’ll be waiting.
It's like a time machine. Since they took my beloved team I really really appreciate this stuff from decades before I was born even. Thank you so much for the post.
The 1970’s was truly the golden era of football. Of course I’m biased, I was ages 8-17 in the 1970’s. This is great to rewatch.
I used to watch the Saturday Night highlight show with Summerall and Brookshier EVERY Saturday night with my dad, it was my favorite show.
I'm on a binge this Memorial Day weekend watching these classics!! Thank You Dave!!!
That's great! You're welcome :)
I miss those days 😢
Of all the wonderful videos you’ve posted, this may be my favorite. Being a Cowboys fan, where Thanksgiving football is a mainstay tradition, this is special to see. Plus, including the best pregame show of all time, and the nostalgic commercials….this is a great time capsule and I couldn’t be happier. Keep them coming…thank you very much
Love this choice of games.....Everything Cowboys/Redskins in this era was competitive and fun. Appointment TV for me as I made sure I could watch this one live when it originally aired. Even though I have seen it a few times since, I am ready to watch this one again!
Good Gravy! the nostalgia is flooding my brain!! Jayne Kennedy and Jimmy The Greek!?
Thank you for posting this vid. Pure gold.
Thanks for including the NFL Today pregame show, and the commercials. Really adds to the time capsule effect.
This is 1 year b4 I could sit through an entire game..I was 8 years old..My most memorable skins vs cowboys game was in 79 heart breaking 35-34 loss..But crazy to think Gibbs Era our best era..Was 3 years away Httr
With sports betting being at an all time height of popularity Jimmy the Greek today would be in heaven today. He was such a pioneer in sports prognosticating. 50 years later our whole country is a bunch of Jimmy the Greeks trying to get an edge to a big payday.
Jimmy Greek quoted something he read in a book, didn't explain the context right, then got thrown under the bus by CBS and certain rabble rouser's and IMO, it was completely unjustified.
Thank you, Dave! You're the best! Excellent 1978 Thanksgiving Day upload that includes awesome pregame show and wonderful commercials!
The 1978 Thanksgiving classic. I remember seeing on the scoreboard mentioning.
"Welcome to Texas Stadium."
"Welcome to the Thanksgiving classic."
They had a great lineup for this gamr.
Washington Redskins need to go back to those's uniform. The 1970's NFL had the best uniforms.
They did wear them up until the woke crowd basically forced them to change their name.
Thanks for all your hard work bringing us these awesome memories..
Too bad this woke crap ended heated rivalry between, the Cowboys and the Redskins.
Absolutely awesome Dave. You’re bringing back great memories. Thank you 🤟
Now this is a great post!!!!
It was Super Bowl XII that made me a fan of these Dallas Cowboys. It was this payback beatdown of Washington that was monumental in making America's Team my Team. I had just turned 9 years old. To say they were so exciting to watch, is the understatement of understatements. The 1978 Cowboys was as complete as any in Franchise History. Most exciting for me was that Defense. Randy Manster White, Ed Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin(should be in Canton), Hollywood Henderson, DD Lewis, Charlie Waters, Cliff Harris. The Offense was as deep in talent as the Team ever had. And Tom Rafferty should also be in the HOF. This game was huge. Washington embarrased the Cowboys on MNF 9-5 earlier in the year. Then came this ultimate payback. And a showcase of just how special this team was. America's Team. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS
Back when football was worth watching
George. Allen. Was. Awesome. Rams. Shouldve have. Fired. Him after 2 preseason games in 78. Carrol. Rosemblood. Destroyed. George's. Career
The. Redskins. Shouldnt. Have. Fired. George. Pardee. Was. Good. But. He. Was. No. George Allen
Summer all and. Brookshire. Were. Great
Rosenbloom. Was. A. Jerk. Shouldve kept. George
I. Think. The. Redskins. Wouldve. Played. Better. If. Billy. Kilmer had. Played
Hail to the Redskins
Meanwhile, in New York, Giants fans were revolting and heads were rolling in management after the Miracle in the Meadowlands the previous Sunday.
Really nice improvement here. Source recording was a bit fuzzy, drab, and dark, but using Topaz and Resolve I put a real nice shine on it . See the before/after screenshots here --- imgbox.com/g/5Zu2TCAtCV
Thank you one of my all time favorites. This was the pinnacle of the real America's Team.
1:52:20 one of the best scrambling from the pass rush you’ll see from Roger the Dodger.
Jayne Kennedy😍
The Video Quality is nothing short of ASTONISHING!! Incredible!
The scary thing of the NFL today, ONLY Brent Musburger is alive.
Jayne Kennedy is still with us
Looks incredible! Thanks for the new upload!
I remember 1978 as the year the Redskins started 6-0 but ended up 8-8 and out of the playoffs. They took an absolute beating this game.
Love that opening theme song ...
Love these games especially commercial brings me back when time was great thank you
Keep'em coming Dave. The golden era of the NFL.
2:09:21 Punt Pass and Kick, David Browndyke of Dallas Texas was an All-SEC field goal kicker for LSU from '86 to '89.
Wow I remember this game ! Summerall was tops ! This was my 2nd year being a Cowboy fan 1978
I recently viewed the 1975 Cowboys/Redskins game Dave Volskey posted on YT, where Pat Summerall's play-calling here in 1978 was a lot smoother than he was for that 1975 game.
Pre and post game shows were so much better back then
I'm sure I put a thumbs up on a good 95% plus of the comments. It's like one giant family of nostalgia that seems to be watching all of these games of yours. Pat Summerall's statement at the end of the halftime show with that marching band and it's good ol U.S. of A. flag was epic indeed.
"If that didn't make you proud to live here, I don't know what does"
I wish I can go back in time , this was football not like today's game it seems like an entertainment than football with all the garbage
The announcers back then were great
I remember this Thanksgiving day game watching it at my cousins house!!
Pretty sure a field microphone picked up someone say “F@*k around, find out!” at 1:30:51. I didn’t think that saying was a thing back then.
This was my 13th birthday. Excellent birthday gift!
Maybe Volsky is one of those time travelers. If he can show us the 1962 Packers, I'll be convinced. Thanks for these NFL games. Especially the ones with holiday commercials. The only thing I didn't like back then was the artificial turf.
1962 Packers? Hell, I'll show you the 1920 Akron Pros and where it all started :)
@davevolskysbackdoor5673 LOL, the 62 Packers were the best. If they had played in Super Bowls I and II, it would've been a huge blow out.
I wonder if there's a game out there with the "Punt, Pass, Kick" competition from Philadelphia? It'd be great to hear an 8 year old get booed cuz he could only throw for 20 yards.
Washington started out 6-0 and ended up 8-8. 😩
love the ads!
The NFL Today on sight for the Thanksgiving Day game.
I laugh every time I see Theisman's old school punter's helmet
The 1978 Cowboys entered the season as defending SB champions. They struggled during the first half of the season & were 6-4 at one point. They would finish the rest of the regular season undefeated including this victory over the R*skins that avenged an earlier loss to them. They would make it back it back to the SB where, unfortunately, they would lose to their nemesis, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in SB XIII. That was the fifth & final SB of-the Landry era.
18:54 ...the birth of the phrase, "that baby is uglier than Jack Whitaker's sportcoat." 😂
The Cowboys couldn’t wait for this game, the Redskins won the first meeting on MNF 9-5, Theismann took a safety on the final play and spiked the ball in the end zone, Cowboys players didn’t like that, Harvey Martin in particular didn’t like it and said we’ll see them again
@ 1:02:45, Cowboys also got Pat Donovan and Randy Hughes in the 4th round of the 1975 draft. Cowboys used the 44th pick in the second round on guard Burton Lawless who never became a regular but started when others had suffered injuries.
Takes me back… football real football CBS Style..
Pat Summerall w/o Madden, but still greatest football play by play broadcaster of all time.
You should consider uploading the to the Interner Archive
Does anyone know where that music starting at 29:03 comes from? I always thought it was kind of hokey. CBS had pretty random music and graphics packages in that era, which was a contrast to NBC-and to CBS itself from fall 1981 onward.
Shout out to Wang Computers and Word Processors
I just could never get over how silly Theismann looked in the single-bar helmet.
Midseason slump over, Cowboys peaking.
thanks
As a cowboy fan I always feared George Allen that was a great rivalry
Wow. I was just a toddler in 78. lol
Jane!!!
John Madden replaced Brookshire the following season.
Every one from the studio to the announcers are gone except Musburger and Kennedy
George Allen was the high mark that Bill Bellichek aspires to.
BB will be shuffled off a little bit slower?
What happened to Washington that year? I remember they started out 6-0 looking really good and then a complete collapse….
6:40 to 9:40 F@$!#in Awsome
Jayne Kennedy was so beautiful and sexy 🔥🔥😍😍.
My first Thanksgiving. I was not quite three months old.
What the heck was wrong with McDaniel, the Redskins receiver? He didn’t look like he was really trying much at all. I saw him drop at least two balls that were catchable.
Would you happen to have the November 9, 1970 Monday Night Football Game between the Baltimore Colts and Green Bay Packers with the Halftime Highlights?
No. That one doesn't seem to have survived.
Rumor has it pop drives a tank to the stadium
@1:12:15 what about Jackie Smith, Septien and many free agents including, Cliff Harris, Drew Pearson and Benny Barnes.
I'm not even American but this is football at its best. When the Redskins were the Redskins not whatever nonsense they are now
Pre game shows only a half hour long back then
at 1.33 dorsett did fumble 100% however , they ruled him down
Jayne Kennedy > Phyllis George
They were both good at what they did but I always enjoyed looking at Jayne!
I wasn't watching football back in the '70s (born in '72), but I like them both. Definitely easy on the eyes :)
Kennedy appeared to be more professional (objective, no hint of any favorites) and down-to-earth. She was much more natural than George.
@@JosePerez-vz1qq When comparing Jayne's career from her CBS days to the occasional guest starring roles she had in movies and TV dramas, she appeared to be much more at ease being herself on live TV than she was playing a character in movies and TV.
To think less than a year after this broadcast ESPN was about to be born and revolutionize sports. Many female broadcasters started out at a ESPN. They have pioneers in Phyllis and Jayne to thank for paving the way.
6:10 this is cute #NFLfilms
Jayne Kennedy was far better than Phyllis George. I don't get how so many people were enamored with George.
Phyllis George was skewered at times when she worked on the CBS Morning News, where accounts of her [figuratively] stumblings can be found online.
One infamous gaff came when she was interviewing Billy Crystal, where Crystal had an on-going skit segment of "Fernando's Hideaway" on Saturday Night Live; whereupon George asked Crystal if he had heard any feedback from Fernando Lamas, whom was the inspiration of Crystal's SNL character. A slightly bewildered Crystal pointed out to George that Lamas had passed away years before.
@@bloqk16 It's almost as if the media and entertainment industry gives opportunities based on connections and "the casting couch", as opposed to talent, especially when it comes to women.

Yes
@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 I thought so, because I remember watching my Lions beat the Broncos before watching this at 7 years of age.

What? Are they from Oklahoma/Indian Country?
This is a Redskins game, right? CBS should have their sh!t together?
I wonder how many championships the Redskins would have won if Lombardi had not died.
Damn shame we never got a chance to find out.
