    It's fairly easy to maintain your Golden's grooming needs at home, here's what I do!
    Equipment:
    -Master Equipment adjustable height grooming table 42” size
    -Master Equipment grooming arm with clamp 36”
    -Shernbao High Velocity 5.0HP Super Cyclone dryer
    -Slicker brush
    -Grooming rake
    -Straight shears, curved shears, and thinning shears (mine have curved tips for safety)
    -Greyhound comb
    Roxanne was freshly bathed and about halfway dry at the start of the video.
    I'm not a professional, this is just what I do to maintain my dogs at home! Constructive feedback is welcome. Thanks for watching!

    Beautiful golden. I would just love if somebody actually did their leg hair and their feathers. That’s what I need to know how to do I’ve watched about 13 videos at this point nobody has done that

      Hi! I will make an updated grooming video soon. Goldens should keep their feathers, so there isn’t much drastic grooming that happens with them, but I do trim Roxanne’s a bit though it isn’t shown in the video. I will make sure to include that in the next video! Basically, what you do for front legs is run your hand down the dog’s leg until you reach the very upper pad which is on the dog’s wrist. Any feathering left hanging down past this point is trimmed with a curved shear turned horizontal to the dog’s leg. For the back legs it’s a little harder to describe, but dampen the hock hair and brush side-to-side with a comb. Orient your curved shear pointing up from the big paw pad and cut off the excess only. Brush side to side again and repeat.

      @@FreelyMaddie thank you for that information. I really appreciate you taking your time. I like to have my dogs back feathers actually feathered. I am extra ultra when it comes to my golden. The picture I have of them here is when he was very young and probably not the best picture. My dogs feathers, kind of feather like we used to do her bangs back in the day. It is tapered kind of nice giving the illusion of layers. I like his front leg hair to be cut. It may be 2 1/2 inches long but then when it gets closer to the ankle, cut on an angle,. I still don’t understand how to cut the ears and trim down the chest, my dogs, ear hair and chest hair grow so fast I don’t know how to cut it without it looking chunky I love a golden retriever. He is my fourth in my lifetime. His parents both won awards at Westminster. My golden is absolutely gorgeous. I find that not all groomers know how to do a golden retriever. And I certainly do not have the skill of any groomer. Period I would like to be able to do this for my own dog because he did have a luxated patella at the beginning of the year. It seems to of healed. But being at the groomer for three hours is a lot.

      @@georgialee01 I’m happy to help! Your dog sounds like a wonderful companion. I’m sorry he has had issues with his patella this year. I actually just uploaded a new video that goes over all aspects of home grooming from equipment to bathing, drying, and detailed trimming instructions. It’s long, but there are timestamps in the video description to skip to which part you want to see. ruclips.net/video/xuyGbfoMP1Q/видео.htmlsi=Pf1j2KNV8Ttgi8lE

    I read a review about a table just like this, the legs gave out. The reviewer did not mention if the dog was hurt, but if the dog has the loop around it’s neck and then the table legs give out, the dog is going to be strangled.

      That’s scary! Thanks for your concern, I never want to put my dogs in jeopardy. Luckily my breeder and others I know who show their dogs use tables like this and haven’t had an issue. This table brand specifically has a good reputation for being quite sturdy and is often recommended by groomers. I’m not sure if it shows clearly in the video, but the table arm is attached to the tabletop. If the legs were to fail the table arm would also fall down. I completely take down my table between every use, so each time I use it, I have to set up the legs and while doing so I make sure the settings are secure. Luckily my dogs are pretty well behaved on the table and are never left up there unattended.

    What brand scissors and thinning shears did you buy off Amazon?

    • @FreelyMaddie
      @FreelyMaddie  2 года назад

      The straight and thinning shears are Equinox Professional razor edge shears, I bough them together as a pair. The curved shears are from a seller on Amazon called “univinlions” and the shears are called “Downward Curved Dog Grooming Scissors.” I believe all of them are 6.5 inches long.

    Hi! Roxanne is very nice looking. I'm looking for a Golden Retriever for obedience, rally, and therapy dog. Do you have contact information for your breeder and where is your breeder located? Thanks for any information that you can share with me.

    • @FreelyMaddie
      @FreelyMaddie  2 года назад

      Thank you! Roxanne is out of Graceful Golden Retrievers, a breeder located in the southeastern US. We do agility and also do therapy work with Pet Partners. She loves being a therapy dog and has the perfect temperament for it! Roxanne has her DN, TKN, and CGCA titles so far. The parents of every litter from Roxanne’s breeder receive all the genetic and health tests recommended by the GRCA prior to being bred, so they are clear of heritable diseases that are common in Goldens. They are also proven good examples of the breed in the show ring/other venues. If you need any other advice on looking for an ethically bred Golden, the Golden Retriever Club of America website is a great resource as well.
