  • This is a 35 minute segment of a longer video on this channel highlighting the single crown design using CAD software by Glidewell.
Dr Bob Dee and Dr Justin Chi, Director of Clinical Technologies at Glidewell Laboratories, discuss providing same-day crowns in a dental practice. This has never been easier and more affordable. Glidewell's technology will allow you to mill a fully sintered zirconia and deliver it in 30-45 minutes, without needing an oven and the firing stage. This video will discuss the design software and the material available for this industry disrupting solution. Your patients will be expecting this of every dental practice in a few years.

I make Bruxzir NOW crowns with this software and Fastmill and I can assure you that the -350 setting will take the crown out of occlusion. Better to have light occlusal contact on a molar than no contact. Natural teeth will supra-erupt into occlusion eventually but the result is not predictable. The -350 could make sense for an implant crown, an RCT treated tooth, or an ankylosed tooth, since these teeth don't compress like normal, healthy teeth. The healthy teeth have a proprioceptive ligament around them (PDL) to handle compression and give feedback. Also, it's better to adjust the occlusion of the crown until balanced and comfortable vs giving more work to the adjacent teeth. I would recommend recording your patients occlusion with occlusal ribbon/paper and an intraoral photo prior to starting a crown preparation, then trying to get a near identical occlusion (including adjacent teeth) when designing the crown. The software should show the occlusal contact measurements of the adjacent teeth so that you can design the crown to have a similar amount of contact.
This DOES NOT APPLY if you are planning to do occlusal adjustment of the arch due to an existing malocclusion.

All Ill say is this machine is in the infant stage right now. My office has had Primemill for 3 years and Fastmill for almost 2, and the final results for both are night and day. Main problem with Fastmill is the accuracy of software propsal-final milled restoration fit and also the esthetic of the materials are very shiny and the unmovable sprue location is annoying because its always placed Buccal(Post Crowns)/Facial(Ant Crowns or Veneer). We are currently in the process of sending the Fastmill back for a refund.
And this isnt a smear campaign but a testament from someone who has actual hands on use of both machines.

So does new in office milling machine from Glidewell which can mill Bruxzir requires oven or not?

It does NOT require an oven. They mentioned that the Bruxzir NOW milling blocks are supposed to be pre-sintered and ready to cement right after milling and polishing them.

Man this machine only has a oven for their Obsidian material. Everything else is cut and ready without cooking or glazing system. My office has had the Fastmill for almost 2 years and the main problem is the accuracy of the software proposal and the final milled restoration fit wise once in patient mouth. Plus all restorations are very shiny and have a unmovable Sprue
