I'm just realizing now that I played a game with Russian Paul one day in late October. It was late and the sun had already set when I was passing through the park. Russian Paul was sitting there by himself at a table, waiting for an opponent. I was in a rush to get to Penn Station but I couldn't help myself and stopped to talk to him. He told me I can play a game with him for $5, and I said that I wasn't that great. He said don't worry about it and I sat down and we played one game and he basically was teaching me and giving me pointers throughout the whole match. Very cool guy. I had no idea at the time that this was him, but I distinctly remember his accent and his mannerisms.

there was no reason for the time scramble at the end of the first game. A wrong colored bishop and rook pawn vs a lone king is always a draw if the defender can get his king in front of the pawn.
