- Trying out the PAA homage to the now discontinued Floid Black aftershave from Spain. Using an EJ DE89 razor with a Wilkinson sword Gillette blade.

“You see Floïd Black, now discontinued, had a short life that definitely coincides with the rise in popularity of traditional shaving over the last 15 years! This is both sad and kinda cool. I mean, after its release in Autumn of 2012 it rose in popularity within the various shaving forums of the time...and for good reason, it was good. Damn good.
Though I have been a long time fan of the scent myself, the real fella behind us releasing this legendary fragrance is none other than Christopher David Bailey. Yep, CDB struck again! Long before this frag was discontinued he'd been hounding us to make a matching shave soap! It would take it finally being cut from the Floïd line up for us to feel obligated to make his "small, achievable dream" a reality. [His words, not mine.]
In my research I noticed Floïd Black every now and then being compared to Creed Aventus. I mean, I guess I understand the comparison...but barely. It does share some similar characteristics but at the end of the day (especially during dry down), Floïd Black was/is its own scent and what a scent it is/was; Masculine, dark, floral, musky, talcy, futuristic nostalgia.”

I just tried the small sample of Droid Black aftershave that was included in a PAA purchase from a couple of months ago. Man, I'd never tried Floid Black and didn't realize it was so highly rated untill all the hype now surrounding Droid Black.
Wow, Droid Black smells SO good! It was great way to end my first shave ever with Barrister & Mann Seville. So you could say I'm late to the game on these two scents--which I am--but that was a great shave!
I had a sample included in my purchase as well as a small token of appreciation from the company. Man I’ve been saving that little sample bottle and I finally used a bit of it today. It smells amazing I might have to get myself a Droid Black
Great video, especially the beach and loved (showed) my wife the part where you had to unplug the drain (equipment check) thanks to the "ladies" we love in our lives. May have to try out the Droid scent. Have a great Holiday weekend!

Yes, all US seaports are backlogged right now; even when they stevedore the containerships, the truckers don't have enough chassis to pick the containers up at the pier! So much for the world of international logistics; great shave there, Ken! Floid Black is al alltime favorite of mine. Can't wait to see what Doug has made for us. We use to go to Newport Beach when I lived there. My #2 child was born in Newport at Hogue Memorial back in 1989. Once in a while we'd go to HB too. BUT, yes, holiday weekends can be packed !

Thanks again. Ned to ask how long does it take you ( how many shaves?) to break in your Boar Brushes? I dont shave daily - not needed, but I just don't have the patience to get passed that Scratchy stage...
I'm about to start using my Boar Brush to scrub my hands with this brush because I'm washing my hands soooo often.. LoL

I always thought Floid Black was a Aventus type scent. How far is this scent from his Doppelganger Gray which is an homage to Aventus?

Your guess is right; outside of the US and Canada, Labour Day-or International Workers' Day-is May 1st instead of being in September. I believe it's commonly celebrated on May Day to memorialize the Haymarket Martyrs.
In Europe labour day is on the 1st of May.

Just leave the brush soaking in room temperature water. It actually worked for me lol. Also what is your all time favorite shave soap/cream?

I know this will be considered blasphemy, but I like Floid Orange more than Droid Black (I never had a bottle of Floid Black to compare the Droid to)

ladies don't worry about hair down the drain because they aren't the ones to fix it. ladies are also rough on transmissions and brakes too. they just don't get it.
