  • This is hive 4, I put a new queen in here in a cage 2 weeks ago, she was released within the past 4 or 5 days and this is the first time looking for her to see if she has been accepted, well I found her, hopefully soon she will start laying eggs. they need brood.

I have a frame like that right now and I’m afraid to move it. So I’m gonna leave it in there until next spring.

I had a few frames from the previous inspection that i took to let the bees rob out so I took them away from the hives
I figure most of the honey will end up back in my hives in another frame

Congratulations! I have a colony that's driving me crazy with queen problems. From a package on March 30th the colony took off and built up like I've never seen. Sometime in late May the queen was just gone, but population was/is too big for it to have swarmed & since I wasn't into the box, I don't see how I would have rolled her or anything like that. Then they wouldn't requeen from doner egg frame, so I installed a queen in a push cage. They chewed the wax around the cage and released the queen & she laid a bit, but then is gone now too, with a few swarm cells. Because the colony is still so big I split it 3 ways using the swarm cells in the original & additional 2 boxes and now I'm waiting to see what happens, but I have little hope. I am absolutely done trying to save this colony, so if this is their last chance before I either shake out or combine.

@@theunlikelybeek I totally understand your frustration. In one of my videos ( Dying Hive ) I watched it back and saw the queen at 10 minutes in, today i looked and she is laying although i have yet to lay eyes on her. They are currently in 5 frames, so im going to leave them now till next weekend and see how they are doing
