my 91 Pontiac 6000 had the 3100 in it had exhaust intake fuel ignition port n polish bigger cam and was putting out 200 hp and 312tq at wheels. the amount of tq alone made the shock towers twist and had the replace them.
It is all about the torque my friend. The same engine that you quote (corolla XRS) makes 132 ft-lbs at the crank to my 236 ft-lbs at the wheels. My crank torque is more than 260 ft-lbs. Need I say more?
The factory ecu works fine but I used an E-PROM emulator and datalogging to retune the car. Transmission will bolt up just fine. If you search the internet, you will find all of the info that you need to know for this swap.
Can I ask why I don't see the 3.6 liter Camaro v6 engines in these? Or 3.9 liter impala v6 That are like 300 hp ##'s and n/a, stock right before turbo or supercharger I believe?
The 3.6 is a totally different motor. It is too tall to fit in the engine bay and the transmission bolt pattern and motor mounts are not in the same location. The 3.4 is a simple swap for these cars.
The 3400 heads are plenty strong. I know of people running in the 13's all motor and people into the low 12's on these heads with no problems to speak of....
Those 207 DOHC engines were good on power output, but sketchy for long term reliability. A total pain in the ass to service, unless you pull the engine out of the car. Who wants that? No wonder GM discontinued them after 1995.
@@badblackz24 no freaking way!! Thats 383 stroker motor hp. Got to remember you lose a 1/3 of your power through the trans and dyno. That would mean you have 400hp. 3.4!! I'm probably gonna do the swap in my Cavalier I'll be happy to see a 150 at the wheels
The 3.4 DOHC is way too tight of a fit in this engine bay. Few people have tried to shoe-horn one into this chassis, but noone has been able to make the car drivable.
these heads are strong this is the gasket who are not...same for the intake gasket WHE are not strong...its not bee for the iron base on aluminium head...in aftermarket pieces you find it...its the same problem for the 3.1 but the mine have been did...chek for *dramis drag*its my sunbird
Hey man i got literally the same car lol 1992 Chevy Cav RS 2dr. where did you find the 3400? i want to get one and have found alot but what kind did you use?
I still have a 1992 Cav RS coupe with the 3.1L V6, still runs great.
the best body style of the Cavalier 94 and under

agreeded, horsepower to torque ratio is sick. my olds 307 has 140 horsepower and 255 torque lol

@superchase08 don't even need forged rod and piston .. a stock 3400 can take 10 psi all day!
I got them off of a Pontiac Grand Am. Dont know what year though. I think it was a 98 or 99.
they are such large displacments and such little hp
I have a few other mods done to the car. Nothing big though.
If by SHIT, you mean THE shit, then you'd be correct
3.4L 60 degree V6

Buick Man 97
Whats your numbers?? !!😢
That was a while ago, but I think it was 192hp and 230ft-lbs at the wheels on that run

How much hp did it have with the old motor?
3.1 was 145 hp 185 ft/lbs of torque

184hp out of 3.4L ?!

I found out that you can use a 1998-1999 or 2000-2002 3400 from the pontiac grand-ams
3.4 is not econobox.....
howd you get a manual trans for the 3.4?
Mikeyssss did you ever find out? My guess he used an adaptor plate for the original transmission
General motors didn't like manual options in many vehicles and don't know of one to exist today besides Camaro I guess? Not sure
Its the same Getrag manual 5 speed transmission that came with that 3.1 in some RS and Z24 models. It bolts up the same to the 3400 block.
Can even bolt up to the lx9 3500 too. My 1995 Buick century I pulled a getrag 282 out of a junked cavalier for a 5 speed swap 3100 set up
Im getting one in black for 1500
L32 ftw :)
me too i'm french from quebec heheh
excuse me???
3.1 sounds better, you should have put a 3.8 in
Should have dropped an L67 in.....s/c ftw ;)
