Huey sitting down on The Big Interview with Dan Rather brought me here. Awesome interview. Damn I love that show...has brought me so much beautifully undiscovered music and joy.
I saw the concert of this band many years ago on TV. When this piece played, in the end the three saxophonists of the band alternated, each with its own solo. As I listened, I read the newspaper without watching the video. The winds alternated each with their own improvisation ..... good, nothing to say, but I kept reading. Suddenly he started his solo another sax. After three or four notes, I felt the night becoming day. I lowered the paper and saw Stan Getz. I did not know that he had recorded with Huey Lewis ..... three notes were enough
I like the Single edit of both part 1 and 2 mixed but just part 2 is wow!!!! If ur not a jazz fan but wanting to try it something like this is a good start!
Heard this song back in the day in a movie theatre waiting for the show to start. Loved it. Hunted until I found it. Lost it over the years. Thought about it a couple months ago, hunted and found it again and am loving it all over. Yep...back when great music was played by great musicians on musical instruments.
Huey Lewis X Stan Getz = Smooth Jazz. Wouldja believe!
Beautiful!!! 🤟
I wore out my cassette listening to this album over and over.

Same here. Watching now.
Thanks Dan... and Huey and Stan.
Same!
Hope he's gotten better one of the best groups of the 80s
Saw Huey being interviewed and he told the story of how Stan Getz wound up on the album. Giving it a spin; incredible!
Tower Of Power horns are fabulous!
Huey has a LOT of great songs but please rank this with them
The sax sends me ...

The Tower of Power horn section are playing with HL's band on this album along with Stan Getz.
Wow, that really is sweet. Just like Huey said it was. The Great Stan Getz, RIP.
Stan Getz AND the Tower of Power horns?? This is by far the best song that Huey Lewis and The News ever did.
It's great, to be sure, but they had a ton of great ones. I love the artistry of this album. Perfect World is one of their best songs ever, too.
And yet, Rolling Stone Magazine declared "Small World," its "Worst Album of the Year." Just shows how much RS knows.
@Michele Wheldon Saw the "Big Interview with Dan Rather.. Sad that Huey has lost so much of his hearing.
@Michele Wheldon Great interview
My fav all time sax solo RIP Stan Getz .. ROCK ON! Dynamite album !!!
Stan Getz's tenor saxophone solo reminds me of Charles Lloyd.
Dude goes nuts on the guitar. Seriously underrated song.
+Jonathan Del Castillo yep. Chris Hayes could really play some killer licks on this and other Huey and the News tunes he played on.
I have always thought this song would be a great theme song for a late night talk show or epic movie.
One of the most underrated songs ever
Stan Getz had cancer and this was one of his last recordings. He blew the most beautiful solo of time!!!! not on part one but on part two....
Stan the Man! Just wonderful.
Stan Getz should have won awards for this, real music.. invest in records!!! Purchase a hi-fi.
I heard part one often on the radio but part two really blows me away!
I like the Single edit of both part 1 and 2 mixed but just part 2 is wow!!!! If ur not a jazz fan but wanting to try it something like this is a good start!
Stan Getz on sax!

STAN GETZ!!!!!!
This piece never get's tired. As other's commented awesome sax (Stan Getz) and great bass line too driving the entire scene.
So cool that now I've got both parts of 'Small World' from their great album - Thanks Muck1998!
Stan Getz!!!!!!! yeaaaaahhh!
+Stefano Profeta my mom (who has this album) had no idea Stan Getz played sax on this song. When I told her, she was genuinely shocked.
Stan Getz (but not Charles Lloyd), right.
Stan Getz - but not Charles Lloyd, right.
