Funny how rich people love it when they flash money around and "impress" the salespeople, then as soon as they leave the store the whole staff roasts them
ultra luxury items are sold easily by retailers with up to 100-150% more than the price in Hermes stores. U can go straight to a retailer after u bought a birkin and make a profit. Hermes employees know this, so they want to make sure u r rich enough to not care about the profit u would make, but u want it because u like it and u can afford it easily.
Birkins & other luxury items are about who would have guessed. BEING LUXURY ITEMS WHO SCREAM YES I SPEND A SMALL FORTUNE ON BAG. That's literally the only purpose of them, to show off you can afford it
Altho you are not wrong, with all due respect, that is their choice. I personally like luxury items and I only buy the things that I can afford + really want. I can respect people equally whether they buy or not buy based on their own taste. What I do not respect, however, are 1) those who are obsessed with luxury shits that they will overspend their budget just to own an item and 2) those who talk shit about others who spend their money on luxury shit.
I think it's so hilarious but also so sad that this is a real thing and people get so honoured that they are offered the opportunity to pay an outrageous amount of money for a bag... an ugly bag at that lol
And one indistinguishable from many bags from high street stores. I have seen many people with this style of bag including broke students. I don't believe they were all Birkins.
This is funny. As in the movie "Triangle of Sadness" an important part of the appeal of super premium brands is that the brand has contempt for you. Budget brands like you and want you to be happy. For premium brands the more they diminish you the more you want them.
I've walked into Tiffany and Cartier on many occasions. Sometimes buying sometimes just looking. Every single time I was welcomed, allowed to see and try on diamonds, given some education, and generally had a magnificent time. (even the time I ran into Tiffany a minute before closing to buy 2 charms). I understand supply and demand and they have to have some way to manage a limited supply but I don't get the attitude.
Women wanna make sure their purse gets stolen even if it has literally nothing of value in it. Meanwhile men: keep multiple laptops and smartphones in a bag that looks like it has your dirty gym clothes in it.
Even if the craftsmanship is "meticulous", Birkins kind of look boring and ordinary. The only reason why they're so expensive is because of artificial scarcity and the exaggerated marketing narrative that they're more "special" than they actually are. Diminishing returns are a thing as well: $100000 bag is *not* 1000 times as beautiful or sturdy as a $100 bag. It will be able to carry the same things all the same.
@marczhu7473 the mark-up for lux brands is like: $250 for material and labor production costs, then they sell it for around 10 as much to make them ($2500). And to make sure it's scarce and people don't get them on sale, luxury brands burn their unsold bags at the end of the season. That tells you enough about their wasteful and excessive business model. For reference, by the way, the production cost of Birkins is around $800. It's mostly a smokescreen of marketing and narrative. They profit from the fact that can make people feel that something is actually worth much, *MUCH* more than it actually is.
a lot of the time the real value is in the middle ground. cheap things will be crap. And a good thing will be expensive. But an expensive thing isn't necessarily good
Strange how I never have been treated differently at my first time shopping compared to me spending my first 100k. Not at Rolex, not at Hermés or anything.
Ha, I got this treatment in the Rolex store. I asked the girl in the AD what they had for me to buy and she said she didn’t know. I simply said “you work in a shop and don’t know what’s for sale, is it your first day?” She looked shocked and tried to sell me a small dial Explorer 2 and I just left. I’d rather pay the premium in the grey market and get what I want.
Idk what you mean by small dial explorer 2. Theres only one size of the explorer 2 currently in production. It sounds like you were disrespectful to the girl, and don’t know what you’re talking about.
Your rudeness is what makes your video funny. I only found out recently how Hermes sells. I don't pay outrageous prices for goods. I buy what i can afford and justify.
@ninawilliams1488 IT gives him free press, but Hermès makes a beautiful product, from scarves to handbags. There is no crime in its expense. If you can't afford it, so be it.
I really do believe the salespeople mean well and stuff. But can someone. Please. Put. A. Phone. Pocket. On this bag. Im not saying that I can afford it (wink wink) But I am saying I will keep buying it from local leather workers based on my family's designs until blah blah blah catches up and you know thats true because I am actually not selling anything today

Pretty sure a boomer would get the term correct
I’m confused, can someone explain why they won’t sell it? Is it actually like trying to buy a laferarri?

Why are the staff so snobs? Some rich people don't always dress as they seem, so why does it matter on the outside?
I don’t understand the hype on birkins
There isn't really much to understand
The question should be why do poor people want one. Inset here everything the poor want but can’t afford.
