A thing of beauty, one of the 8 wonders of the new world. It sure makes things easier, not stacking. I wish I had an open field. White oak splits so nice. That wood is really seasoned.
G’morning Chris. The binnàge is looking most sweet. We prefer red over white for oak in our stove. MN state fair for us today !! Of course I’m wearing my Woodyard shirt. GoodNightIrene
You got a pretty good eye for spotting the difference between white and red Oak when most of it is barkless! I can definitely tell when it’s got bark on it, but once the red Oak dries the color lightens up it’s a little difficult until you split it open. The smell is a dead giveaway! See ya tomorrow 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
On the next episode of spending Chris's money, he'll discuss the pros and cons of people saying he needs a dozen firewood conveyors to split from the concrete and pile it up in the bins without using the tractor.
I ran into some Rock oak in Pennsylvania. Had uprooted on the side of the log road. Well it looked half dry so I cut it up. Everything down to inch and a half. I'd like the small stuff too. I got that dried out and it burned like coal beautiful.
Hello Chris. You have been using the single wedge rather than the four-way wedge quite a bit in your videos as of late. Is that because of the wood you are splitting, or is it to limit the amount of scrap generated? Keep up the great work!
How about putting the logs that you know you are going to chainsaw next to the bin? Then you can split into the elevator again. I will have my pom poms tomorrow morning!!
I live in Grand Mesa National Forest in Colorado. I've found permits for personal fuel wood harvesting, but can't find one for business. Any help or insight would be amazing.
My guess is that it is only for personal, so be a person and cut all you can personally, and if limited, have a family member and a few friends get a permits too???
@@InTheWoodyard If a person personally cut split and delivered the firewood to a business personally wonder if said business owner put the wood in a pizza oven him/her self if that would still be personal use. 🤔🤪🤣😉 🐪eze
If your customers could tell the difference between white and red oak they would be ranked as genius'. Even the best of us can't always determine the species of oaks. Besides, the BTU's are close anyhow. I am dismissed. 😵💫😵💫
Yup, I agree but the ones that want it really want it for their smoking of meat for their business and I want to get the right product to them so I separate it for them.
I gotta lot the same deal here in TN,most people here can tell to a degree,so I separate so I get business of those few people that want their wood even that specific ,it's more work but worth it,to me anyway
If you've ever smelled fresh cut "green" red oak you'll know why you don't want to use it for smoking. Once the wood is split it's pretty easy to tell red from white.
The nose knows...I forgot. Forgive please. Yes, the snorting works when wood is fresh or split. I often will step outside to stand and snort the stacks ( she threatens to call our friend the county Sheriff down the road ). For you jokesters, offer a White Spruce to a "friend" (sic) for their indoor Christmas tree. Details will come.
Chris the wife have a hard time see your legs split firewood 🪵. She yes 👍 to tell you some of the firewood is to dead there NO BTU left into it almost like rotten firewood 🪵 for heat . 😮

Yup and yes it is dry dry!
Ran my new Ultra for about 20 minutes yesterday, splitting a few larger splits down to more manageable sizes. Totally therapeutic 👍
Awesome, more therapy ahead!
Loving these videos chris especially these longer vids lately, with splitters and saws,i love all the vids,i just apriciate these lately ones
Thanks, lots more to come!
Awesome vid that day Chris! 🔥💯👍. See you soon! Andrew from NB :)
Thanks as always!
Another beautiful bin has been built, to be filled in no time at all! GNI

Great job reducing the enemy - handling!
Thanks!
Love the bowling pins sound!never gets old
I think that was actual wood sounds??? Not sure I used the bowling pins sound on that one!
@InTheWoodyard i know. Dry wood sounds like that!! Its a fantastic thing to hear..never gets old
Good morning Chris and friends it’s a beautiful morning to be alive. Thanks Chris for another great video. Keep on cutting
Good morning! Yup, every day is a good morning to be alive!
hi there i like white oak as well . best to you john
Thanks, you too!

Yup, it is harder for sure! When it is split it is easy with the smell and color.
A work of art, the Woodyard Picasso.😊
Yup, I agree!!! Ha!
Bless you!!
Thanks!

Ya, I get a lot of "spending advice"
😂😂
I think cargo net and helicopter
Those rounds looked mint for the 4 way!
I guess, I will try the white oak again for smoking meat. I've tried it in the past, but came to the red oak. Great video Chris.
Thanks!!
Good morning!
Morning/ evening!
Hi Chris!!😀😀
Good morning and evening Al!
Good morning all!
Hello Kurt!
Getting it done. Was nice to go to my friend's equipment yard. I was able to cut and split a load on the way home
Awesome!!
Relaxing day in woodyard!! Chris wearing shorts!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
You got that right! A hot day! Thanks!
Chriss has to show his legs off for the ladies!
@@InTheWoodyard come down South if you want heat!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Morning everyone
Hello!!
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
Good morning everyone have a good day Chris nice video ( Ty Ron
Thanks Ron!
Chris, well you got a little bit done ✅ a little bit is better then nothing but you got a hour of workout 😮😊❤
True!!
I ran into some Rock oak in Pennsylvania. Had uprooted on the side of the log road. Well it looked half dry so I cut it up. Everything down to inch and a half. I'd like the small stuff too. I got that dried out and it burned like coal beautiful.
Nice!!!
11:32 God bless you!
Thanks!
Chris what are your thoughts on doubling the pallets on the bottom to allow for more airflow and faster drying ?
Good thoughts! Good idea.... more air is better! Try it!
Splitting into a dump trailer is hard hard work when you don't have a conveyor. But I'll have one soon!
Nice!
Good Morning Chris,Ed from Vermont
Hello Ed!
Nice video Chris. Very little oak near me. I have planted nursery grown but unsuccessfully. They just don’t seem to like my property. GNI
Sorry to hear that....must be a reason...soil, water, bugs, mice, deer???
Like the wedge on that splitter. Most come with an 8" , not high enough.
Yup, and the new Ultras have an even taller wedge ...about 2" more now.
Chris, have I missed a video of you using the 16 way wedge in the processor? I thought that you had received one from Eastonmade. Thanks.
You did not miss it, I will be using it soon. I have been busy doing other things lately!
Don't see Chris wearing shorts in The Woodyard very often! 😅!
Trip to the emergency room starts at 5,500$ here in Central Ohio.... even with good insurance it's a 2500$ deductible..... preparation =success
He figured his thong wouldn't get soaked as fast.😂
Nope, I usually do not wear shorts...it was hot!
I was hot, lots of people wear shorts at work.
yup!
Good evening guys n girls
Hello Kirk!
Hello Chris. You have been using the single wedge rather than the four-way wedge quite a bit in your videos as of late. Is that because of the wood you are splitting, or is it to limit the amount of scrap generated? Keep up the great work!
The single does a better job for clean splits and it is better for nasty knotty stuff too.
@@InTheWoodyard Hi Chris, thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your insight. Keep up the great work.
I sometimes have a hard time telling the difference between white and red oak. Definitely smells different between the two👍👍
Once it is cut It is easy to see and smell. Or if there is bark on it is easy too.
How about putting the logs that you know you are going to chainsaw next to the bin? Then you can split into the elevator again. I will have my pom poms tomorrow morning!!
Okay, sounds good thanks!
Still surprised you don't use a 4 way splitter on that unit. Not trying to split hairs👍👍👍
I will next time when I have the best wood for it size wise. The single wedge is very clean.
Hi Chris
Any reason why you couldn’t stack around the bin instead of using pallets?
Paul
Time. Stacking is a waste of time and it dries better and faster loose!
Just for fun ..did check the moisture with your fancy meter on that oak? I'm not sure how often you do that.
Yes I did it was all 15-18% ....When I split it I could clearly see it was dry.
Chris when you built the new bin beside the corn field was it because you heard a voice say " If you build it they (customers) will come "
Yup, customers always come! Firewood in bins is like money in the bank but better , it is worth more.
I just buy 562 xp and i love it 😜
Yes! Very nice saw!!
I can get free wood rounds unlimited dropped at my farm, so today I bought a wood splitter and I’m gettin to business, already have 20 cords or so
Awesome, get to it!
Have you done a Timelapse from the roll bar splitting wood? You may have just haven’t notice if you have I apologize but if not be cool spot to.
Maybe, I might have?? I will do one some time for you! Thanks!
Wife be back tmw to Chris to cheer you on 😊.

Chris, did you put an hour meter on your ultra when you 1st got it?? I bet you have close to 1,000 hrs on that little beast!!
No but it has one now thanks to Mike! Ya, more than one thousand!
The engine will probably last another 2000hrs before it is ready to be rebuilt or replaced.
What are all the white buckets for at 22:05
Water buckets for pumpkins that where planted there but the deer ate most of them!
Good Morning Woodhounds!!(-; 50° F and fantastic here in Ashville Ohio this morning! In August!!!!! What a break this year!
Yup, nice and cool here too!
Chris, if you are thinking about selling your photography business. Doesn't your wife work with you ? What is she going to do then?
I am not just thinking about selling my building...I am going to. We have been in the photography business full time for over 42 years can she retire?
Hey. Chris. Baby
Hello there Sir Ralphy Baby! Good to see you here again!
