- On this episode, I get out on the beautiful Colorado River for a little trout fishing on Labor Day! I got to use my new Helios 3D 6wt while my Recon is out of service. Yup, I was wondering when the rafts were going to start rolling by. Nice fish! That section has a few good ones! I hooked a fat 18” rainbow one time right as a raft was going by. It jumped about five feet out of the water and almost landed in the boat as they went by. They were loosing their marbles…..I felt like such a boss!
It was such a cool feeling!! Loved getting to show those folks a couple hooks sets and a nice brown trout. Sounds like a pretty epic catch you had too!

Nope this was near Glenwood!
What section was that. I fished the hwy 9 crossover north up toward grandby around marshall. Were you below the gorge south of hwy 9. Loves those colorado browns. You were nailing them . Huge population of fish on Colorado but they can shut down completely sometimes but you were on the whole time. Great job.
This was a few miles above Glenwood! Normally this area holds some bigger ones but I’ve heard the heavy sediment pushed a lot of the big fish out or killed them unfortunately. Thanks for watching!!

What flies and how were you rigged up?
Caddis nymph varieties using a bright green and some sparkle on the outside they seemed to like those 👍🏼 I was fishing the new Orvis Nymph indicator line that has colored line markers and sinks fast so you just watch for the line to jolt, pause, or bow oddly and set the hook! It’s definitely trickier than a regular surface indicator but I thought it was a lot of fun. That went directly to my 5wt WF Orvis Pro floating line
