Soooo beautiful. I have owned lots of old cars, always driven. That's what they're made for! Your Jag is just indescribable.

Grace, pace, and space! That was the advertising slogan for these cars back the the day. One could add race also. The Mark VII saloons, the earlier versions of this car, were raced extensively and claimed many victories including the Monte Carlo Rally and a NASCAR race. I drove a 1953 Mark VII daily for many years, beginning in High School. It would indeed do the ton (100 mph), and was a favorite ride with the ladies. Mine was fitted with a custom pony keg in the trunk plumbed to a beer tap secured just below the burled maple dash. We drag raced the Jaguar at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle in 1970, then a famous meet up scene on Friday nights. Of course we lost, but the Mark VII was a crowd favorite. Good Times gone by..

One of our neighbors had a Mark IX when I was a boy. She was in dark gray and light gray... and I dreamed about her.
    Thanks for showing this one.

Tachometers on British cars generally do turn clockwise. There are exceptions.

I wish I knew how tall you guys were. It's really hard to scale a car that age when it's not parked to a modern car and you don't know how big the people are.

Hi Carter! Thanks for watching! The Lambo belongs to Sea to Sky Exotic Car Rentals; it's also part of Club Turismo. If I end up joining the club, I guess it will be! :D

dunno if youre ever gonna read this but today i found a similar car in a barn in ireland. there since about 87. the only difference is there are indicators over driver and passenger doors. which i havent found anywhere else since ive been checking. it used to belong to lord donoghmore who was kidnapped by the IRA in 1974. its got history. Id love to buy it. I havent seen the underside but its a true barnfind. cant stop thinking about it....

@Greg Bloomfield Thanks for your reply. I believe it does have regular rear indicators also and am intrigued at these "semiphores" (never heard of them before) ill do more digging, he wanted to sell it then kinda changed his mind but then i kinda changed it back again but dont know where i stand now.... if its mean to be etc. Thanks again!

Semaphores were used on the early Mk 7's (Not just UK models) and replaced by indicators when the 'M' spec model was introduced in 1955.

Gasoline and petrol are the same fuel. Petrol is short for petroleum spirit.

I bought my MKIX in Seattle in 1989. That deep "purrr" of the engine sounds like the contented big cat that it is. I've sold my collector cars, but not that one. I just couldn't do it. Its understated elegance, smooth ride, and deceptive power/speed still make me smile.
