Assam Current Affairs || Bhaskarabda calendar || new calendar system in Assam || Important for APSC

Recently, the Assam Government has announced that Bhaskarabda, a Luni-Solar Calendar will be used as an official calendar. The word Bhaskarabda is derived from the name of the king Bhaskaravarman(600-650AD), one of the most successful kings who belonged to the mighty Varman dynasty. The Varmans ruled over Kamrupa Kingdom, the ancient name of Assam.
Bhaskarabda is the era counted from the date of the ascension of the king Bhaskaravarman to the throne. The timeline of the rule was around 7th century AD
