    After seeing the wired expert criticism of conlangs and knowing from a fan of the show that this conlang is supposed to come from American slang it has a lot of sounds that sound wildly unamerican and is very hard for Americans to integrate.
    Things like the reflexive D sound and CH sound are not normal among Americans and probably wouldn’t be integrated into our English or this version of English. It seems to take a lot of inspiration from African phonetics when, with the way our culture is headed now, we would actually expect some more Spanish integration. Things like janitor or jump would probably turn that hard ‘j’ from the German influence into a softer yuh sound so ‘yan-na-tor’ Or ‘Yumped’ perhaps with a more forward yuh in the southern US. Guh and Kuh might also be intermixed with a more explosive G. So ‘Good’ and ‘Grocery’ would sound more like, “Kuh-ood” and “Kohsary” another thing to note is also the SJW lisp that might be integrated as well so S sounds might get elongated slightly so get ‘shhhhut’ and ‘shhhhadow’.
    A lot of the conlang is really well made but I think the best way for these actors and to establish this as an America language is to essentially Americanize the sounds from other languages. Basically butchering them.
    But that’s just what I think.

    • @grzegorzw424
      @grzegorzw424 10 месяцев назад

      What is very interesting to me, is that this language sound kind of like Old English, at least i percive it like that (i'm not a linguist and my knowladge of Old English is very limited). Mind you i'm only talking about phonetic, not about grammar or vocabulary.

    • @kimmiewise1044
      @kimmiewise1044 10 месяцев назад

      @@Patches_0001 I understand that which is why I was projecting how the language would evolve more realistically than the way the show portrayed it using current events (which would technically be their history) to suggest what would be more accurate. Again, if this was based on American slang we would expect a Spanglish-AAVE (Which draws roots from western English dialects with little to no influence from African dialects by the way)- perhaps slightly French mesh. Again things like softening the "j" to a yuh sound, more double negatives, and long s sounds. African dialects are much harder for Americans to adopt and aren't very popular compared to south American Spanish which is becoming more and more common in the US as time goes on. We might also start expecting a few Japanese or korean words or phrases as the western fascination with the far east gains prominence. So maybe the soft R being adopted from these languages. Just trying to piece together the linguistics of it.

    Like, instead of saying "pencil" I say "line stick"
    They also replace the word _"tunnel"_ with _"sobwe"_ or _"subway"_
