@@davewills148 perhaps they will make a version of the game especially for you, with no loaders or mechs. In fact they could do away with the whole cargo thing and get rid of those silly slow ships with crap guns because they also are childish and no one wants them.
I did the starter cargo mission with it using C1. I just took it with me to Bajini . I and after aligning the ship I just stood at the forward area of the ship cargo grid and sent them to the freight elevator grid without leaving the ship. The second layer was awkward with ATLS but in retrospect I think I should do the first layer with 4’s then add the big crates.
Im going to say this here, but I've seen this take a lot, and I really don't understand it. Taking an ATLS on your ship should entail sacrificing some cargo space, for the convenience, just like taking any other ground vehicle. Some ships even have space to the side of the cargo section, to place vehicles like this, e.g the C1, and in the future the Ironclad. "I want to fit the ATLS into smaller ships" Why? Its use case in something like a vulture is bassicly non existant, moving 14, or 28 with the buffer is really not something your going to spend a long time doing, and would probably be faster with a handheld tractor beam since you dont need to deploy the ATLS, then climb into it. Anyway, just my thoughts.

Something I proposed a few years back, was a button to get your hands free, while sitting in a cockpit, so you could grab a gun without standing up, or just punch an in-game screen when mad. With no canopy, it makes even more sense. It'd also make sense, to have some kind of crawling mode on such a suit for the purpose of transportation, or to move it while it's crouching/parked, but one thing at a time.
You don't need to move if you are in sight of the cargo elevator and the back of the ship, grab, turn then click on the destination without moving. In the bigger hangar probably need to park closer to the freight elevator. The grab / deposit range is much more than you might expect.
this thing being used for cargo sorting in distribution centers would be cool literally ONLY working in the cargo area of the distribution centers to sort of prep cargo for the quanta system. Basically take box A to loading area A, Box B to Loading Area B, etc. Basically only working a warehouse job
I want to see a tractor beam mount on the left arm as well so you can lift 2 boxes at once. Being able to adjust the height the boxes idle at would also be useful.
The Argo Atlas is great as a combat drop My Org Leader dropped from 4km and no problems. He also found out that you can't bedlog in game with the Atlas on board as the Ship counts the Agro Atlas as a passenger, odd.
I like that this tractor beam alone has the functions it does. It makes a good piece of industrial specialty equipment. CIG really are delivering on their sci-fi game experience.
When the system is fully realized, there will be limits to how much each tool can move, and battery life limitations too. The Atlas might be needed for the 16-32 SCU boxes
I think its going to be a game changer with off loading but may need a some tuning to load or just get it close and then use a hand tractor beam to position
Nice. I like the tech tree power suits open up but mainly i have been wondering why we got the cargo handling functions in the update without any sort of forklifts or other means for ground loading
I got to test this last night , asked a player in chat could i have a shot . He dropped one off to my hangar . Its much quicker to load boxes . I wish it would fold up into box size to be easily transported
For now, the person in the suit is invulnerable and can not be killed. This means you can do planetfalls but you can not EVA with it. EVA causes you to be thrown out of the suit. From what I understand there are already 6 skin colors for it. If you look at the ship loadout manager you can see it has a weapon slot other than the tractor beam.
It will not go up stairs, accidently got stuck in the hanger in the area where there is a drop down floor but with stairs to get back. BUT the MaxLift does pick up the ATLS so I was able to get it out.

Yeah resource network (engineering) is coming with alpha 4.0. This will offer a lot of gameplay for crews, from managing and maintaining systems, fixing components, putting out fires and more 👌
I think a lot of any of these mechanics with the tractor beam boils down to gaining the skill, like you said. People have trouble with the tractor beams, because they're not good at it. It just takes time to learn how it works, just like anything else in game. Take the time, learn the mechanic, and take a step back before you (general public) decide to complain about how it works and demand changes.
So, this loader adds to the 'fleet' of tractoring tools, but there is no corresponding profession OFFICIALLY in game, like a Super Cargo or Stevedore to allow those who (for whatever reason) choose not to fly to have a job loading and unloading Cargo. Is the game not (yet) big enough to allow for some localized gameplay ? Stevedores, Storekeepers, Kiosk Operators, and so forth?

Whoever had the vision, to make this game, lost it a long time ago, or it got blurred with €€€ bucks.
The price I personally feel should have been $30 max. The nerf to other tractor beams is just continued balancing and I love the limitations as this creates a progression path for the tools as you delve further into the hauling career. I’d love it if they released it to buy in game but as with any sale they keep it out for one patch cycle. I hope the cycle will be shorter due to it being a mix of a suit/tool/vehicle but we will see. Great for generating sales, shame it wasn’t cheaper but the balancing is a good thing imo. By the time the nerf is in it should be available in game anyway
